Historia
All along the Mediterranean coast, the Roman empire’s richest citizens are relaxing in their luxurious villas, enjoying the last days of summer. The world’s largest navy lies peacefully at anchor in Misenum. The tourists are spending their money in the seaside resorts of Baiae, Herculaneum, and Pompeii. But the carefree lifestyle and gorgeous weather belie an impending cataclysm, and only one man is worried.

Robert Harris made the last days of Pompeii live again.
Revisado: 03-08-25
Harris recreates the horror of the immense power of nature and the destruction it can wreak. He intersperses fiction with historical accuracy dotted with scientific details about volcanic eruptions. For instance, scientists have calculated the explosive force of Vesuvius as 100,000 times that of the atomic bomb unleashed on Hiroshima. Being reminded of the cruelty and misogyny of men in ancient times was disturbing however, Marcus Attilius Primus stands out as a very decent fellow so maybe they weren’t all as hateful as Ampliatus.
Highly recommend this book (and his Cicero trilogy) to everyone interested in ancient history.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Rattling good story
Revisado: 07-06-24
Loved the technical information about volcanoes. I did not like how the government buried nuclear and other dangerous waste in the caves, especially after watching a documentary about the dangerous chemicals and nuclear waste that has been dumped on the ocean floors by numerous governments around the world. Just like Crichton and Patterson wrote about their fictitious time bomb we are literally sitting on one ourselves. But the story is well worth listening to.

Historia
When a remote camera on a large, rugged expanse held by the Land Trust for Wildlife Conservation picks up a blurry image of what could be a mountain caribou, they contact Alex Carter to investigate. After all, mountain caribou went extinct in the contiguous U.S. years ago, and if one has wandered down from Canada, it’s monumental.

Alice Henderson is a Superstar
Revisado: 01-11-23
Having now finished all three of the Alex Carter books I am completely hooked. Fast paced and full of action the books keep you listening but it is the wildlife descriptions that fascinate me. Passionate about the preservation of wildlife and wild spaces, these books inspire me to do more to help fight climate change and save wildlife for future generations. Thank you Alice Henderson. Eva Kaminsky is a terrific narrator too. Eager for the next book.

A Must Read.
Revisado: 08-02-21
I had never heard about Elizabeth Packard but thanks to Kate Moore I now know what an amazing woman she was. Everyone should read this book. Kate Moore did a wonderful job of researching her material and did an excellent job reading her book. British accent or not.
I would be interested to know why no American author had chosen to write about Elizabeth’s life and her fight for the rights of women. My blood was boiling from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Things aren't going well for Grayson Hernandez. He just graduated from a fourth-tier law school, he's drowning in student debt, and the only job he can find is as a messenger.

Revisado: 09-16-17
I loved this book from the first page. Beautifully written, wonderful story, and the narrator could not have been better. The fact that this is a true story makes the book even more special.
If you don't fall in love with Pino Lella then you have no heart.
Recommend this most highly. I hear a film is being made. I think it is essential that you read the book first.

Get Ready For A Great Listen
Revisado: 06-21-17
I loved this book. Told in the first person by Karen the story reveals how mistakes made in youth can come back to haunt you with dire consequences. The narrator, Jennifer Ikeda, did a great job with the English accent and only a few words led me to believe she wasn't English herself. I looked her up and found she is American. Still an excellent job done with a brilliant story. Just bought Erin Kelly's He Said- She Said because I enjoyed The Poison Tree so much.

Historia
Tim Cornish thought he'd gotten away with murder. For months after he'd killed his lover off the Alaskan coast, there hadn't been a word. But then the letters started to arrive. It seems that someone knows what Tim has done.... This compelling thriller delivers such a dark picture of romantic love that murder seems its natural mate. Frightening, suspenseful, and deeply unsettling, No Night Is Too Long is a modern crime masterpiece and will be enjoyed by readers of P. D. James and Ian Rankin.
