Much better than the movie, and the movie was terr
Revisado: 04-18-21
The book opens with the internal dialogue of "The Angel of Verdun" rather than the weaselly Public Information Officer that you may have been familiar with, from the movie. Suddenly, you realize you're listening to a woman's view, and a badass, at that. From that point on, imagine what a difference that makes, in your perspective. Highly recommended.

We are not alone. On Ganymede, breadbasket of the outer planets, a Martian marine watches as her platoon is slaughtered by a monstrous supersoldier. Historia
Before his trip to the stars, before the Rocinante, Timmy was confined to a Baltimore where crime paid you or killed you. Unless the authorities got to you first. On a future Earth beset by overpopulation, pollution, and poverty, people do what they must to survive. The Churn follows a crime boss named Burton as his organization is threatened by a new private security force tasked with cleaning up the city. When the police start cracking down, Burton and his footsoldiers become increasingly desperate to find a way out.

The Amos Burton "Origin Story"
Revisado: 02-26-21
Not very good as a standalone story. It's illuminating and makes a lot more sense if you've first read or listened to (at the very least) "Leviathan Wakes" or watched a few episodes of "The Expanse." Arguably, the best sci-fi show ever, foundon Amazon Video. And that is probably what brought you here...this is worth getting for the motivations of "Timmy" in the show, and his dark and creepy relationship with Lydia. And yet, that relationship steels him for the fateful journey he embarks on for all hjmanity on The Rocinante.
Someone has to be the unstoppable soldier.

Historia
Ragle Gumm has a unique job: Every day he wins a newspaper contest. And when he isn’t consulting his charts and tables, he enjoys his life in a small town, in 1959. At least, that’s what he thinks. But then strange things start happening. He finds a phone book where all the numbers have been disconnected, and a magazine article about a famous starlet named Marilyn Monroe, whom he’s never heard of. Plus, everyday objects are beginning to disappear and are replaced by strips of paper with words written on them, like "bowl of flowers" and "soft-drink stand".

amazing book. He got the political persuasions reversed for the 21st century, however, which is a fascinating political science subtext.

Debate of SIGINT vs HUMINT
Revisado: 05-27-17
As an early reader of James Bamford, this book is an excellent evaluation of the current state (and misstate) of the grey boundaries that define defense and liberty.
