What another amazing book by Davis!! I love this series to pieces and am so glad I decided to pick up the first book. It captivated me and took my breath away. Davis's writing and even pacing was spectacular and such a thrilling ride of ups and downs!

The characters were so awesome, I instantly connected with Rema from the first book. And I really don't know why because in she wasn't my normal protagonist. In the first book she wasn't a bad-ass chick on a mission, she was a big sweet softy. Naive and unaware of the reality of the world around her, but yet still a feisty, determined, strong willed, and all around good person. So I guess all those qualities allowed me see the fierce fighter inside Rema.

But in this book, Rema was the opposite of her soft demeanor from book one. She was a girl who went through something that changed her. Unwilling to be the trusting, sweet, naive girl she once was, but still unsure of what her role is and where her life was heading, and if she ultimately had it within her to fight back. But by the end of this book she built herself up to the understanding of what she needed to be: A girl on a mission, with a vendetta to seek justice for her family and all the ones in her kingdom who have been wronged and suffered at the hands of the king and is evil son Prince Lennek. And I loved watching her tremendous character growth from book one. And how she took the injustice done on herself, and turned it into a beacon of will and determination to see all the wrongs done to those on the island righted, and as a path to reclaiming the kingdom and ending all the suffering!

And Darmik was another great character that I just loved! Like Rema, I instantly connected with him also. And though he was the son of the evil king, and also the commander ruling the kings army, and leader of the ones causing the people suffering, I still seen that he was a good person underneath his preside. But was just mislead by his desires of wanting to be apart of his family that he's always been neglected from. And I think that blindsided him to the actual wrongs he was inflicting on his people by doing the kings bidding. But in this book Darmik was battling with what was right and what was wrong, and Rema was the turning point for him. An eye opener for all the wrongs that he's been causing on the Island for a long time. And he ultimately turned his allegiances to the rebels to fight against his father. And that just further proved I was right for putting my faith into his character. ;)

THE PLOT

REMA:

Barely escaped her public execution, Rema is now coping and trying to understand who saved her and why. She was rescued by rebel forces, the same rebel forces that king Barjon and the man she's come to care for, Prince Darmik are hunting down and eliminating one by one. Unsure of what's going on and who can be trusted, Rema has no choice but to remain at the rebels fortress, because she's now a wanted woman all over the Kingdom, and their out for blood—her blood.

Crown Prince Lennek and the evil king want the noose around Rema's neck so badly she can taste it. But thanks to the rebels who rescued her, she was able to escape with her life, at least for the time being. But the question still remains why did these rebels help her, and what do they ultimately want from her?

Allied with the rebels, Rema trains daily, building her strength and learning the skill to protect herself when the kings army closes-in. But within the rebel fortress, Rema finds answers she didn't even know their were questions too. She was saved for a reason, a very good reason at that. And the rebels want her to commit to their cause not because she's another able body, but because she is The Key to the corrupt kingdoms undoing. She's the only one able to bring the kingdom to it's knees, and then rebuild it beyond it's once glory...

DARMIK:

Shunned by his father, the King of Greenwood Island, tortured by his brother, the Crown Prince, and betrayed by the girl he's fallen in love with. All that and Darmik is barley holding onto his sanity. But one thing that he does have above all else is his army. Commander and loyal leader to his solders, Darmik must find the rebels responsible for inciting the spark of rebellion in the hearts of his people. He must find the ones he secretly appreciates for saving Rema from her demise that fateful day of her failed execution. But most important, he must find the truth of Rema's true heritage, and if she knows who she really is, and how much power she holds, if she chooses to wield it...

But one things for certain, Darmik knows his people have been mistreated. He knows his father is turning him into a monster—making him do evil things to his kingdom. He knows when his brother Lennek becomes ruler of Greenwood Island, he will become even more vindictive and evil then his father, and he will make everyone under his rule pay, simply because he can. And Darmik knows he cannot let that happen, but is uncertain what he should do about it...

But finding Rema will come at the

ultimate price...

His father and brother want Rema's head on a stick, but even worse, the Emperor has gotten news of Rema's heritage, and has sent in his own reinforcements, and their hunting for the kill. He knows Rema betrayed him by not telling him who she really was, but is that betrayal really worth standing by and watching her be murdered? But the more he digs deeper, the more he starts to think that maybe she hasn't betrayed him, maybe she's unaware of who's blood pulses through her veins. And then the realization that he may of just lost everything he loves, for nothing.

So now the question remains...

Is Darmik willing to fight for Rema, and by fighting for her, is he willing to take on her cause—a cause that just may bring the end of the king's tyranny, and the kingdom to it's rightful place?

Yes, YES, YESSSSS!!!! The RED was a fantastic sequel that I just loved! With action and adventure, twist and turns, allegiances and betrayals, obedience and rebellion, evil and benevolent, and a romance so bitter sweet, that it will literally be the last hope of saving a kingdom...

Overall, RED was so awesome, with just the right amount of everything I love! This series has quickly become one of my all time favorites, and these characters will always hold a dear place in my heart! And the author is writing a spin-off series with Rema and Darmik's daughter, the future empress as the main protagonist. And I CAN'T WAIT to jump back into this EPIC world. If you enjoy this type of genre with an awesome cast of charters, and plenty of action and adventure, with betrayals and defiance, and a romance so sweet, then you should definitely check out this series!

I loved THE KEY so much! I was actually very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Not because it didn't sound fantastic, because it did, but I kept putting it off for years, thinking it was one of those books that sounded fantastic, but turn out to be a load of junk. But I am so happy to say that was NOT the case here with THE KEY! Not at all, the complete opposite to be exact!

The world-building is what captivated me from the very beginning. I love a thick-plotted world with evil kings and a kingdom of the verge of self destruction. And then you throw in conspiracies and political intrigue, with a forbidden romance and a hot love interest, and a determined heroine, and you have one hell of a book. And that's exactly what I found here! So I was instantly drawn into this world and the outcome of their situation. Davis created a thrilling plot to go along with her epic world building! BRAVO Jennifer Davis, BRAVO!!

The characters were just as amazing as the world-building. The story was told in dual POV's, with Rema and her love interest Prince Darmik as the main characters. And they were both developed and fun characters for their own reasons. Rema was the mystery of the novel, and though we knew her true identity, she didn't, and that made for a thrilling ride to watch her discover all the little hints along the way to revealing the truth behind it all. She was spunky, and I really liked that about Rema's character. She wasn't quickly knocked down, and I don't mean physically I mean mentally. She could take whatever was thrown at her and turn it into not as bad of a situation as it really was. She was also smart and tough, even though she really didn't know how to physically fight, she still wouldn't let that defer her from standing up for herself. She was just a well-rounded, awesome protagonist that I just loved.

And Darmik, the other main POV was so dam hot!!! He drove me crazy when it was his POV! I loved him to pieces for many reasons. And though he was doing the evil kings bidding's, he knew it was wrong and did not take pleasure like his brother, the Crown Prince did. He was strong, skilled, loyal, determined, and viciously lethal when he need to be. Yet he was gentle, sweet, compassionate, and just wanted the best thing for his people. And he was slowly starting to see that it was not his father and brother that the people needed. I thought Rema and Darmik were awesome protagonist, and together they would be unstoppable...

THE PLOT

SEVENTEEN YEARS IN THE PAST:

Greenwood Island is ruled by a just king and queen, with two sons and one daughter. All is well in the land, citizens are feed and treated fairly, and though their not the riches kingdom, their content and happy with their Monarch and the lives they provide.

But all that changes when Emperor Hamen, ruler of Emperion on the mainlands wants to open up trade with Greenwood Island. But the king and queen of Greenwood refuse the Emperor for their own good reasons, and thus sentenced Greenwood to their deaths at the hands of the Emperion army. An army vastly larger and highly more skilled then Greenwood's soldiers. And on one eerie, blood-filled night, the Emperion army invades Greenwood Island, and slaughtered the Royal family, killing anyone who gets in their way. Royals, civilians, guards, woman, children-babies, anyone who posed a threat was executed on site. But the Commander of Greenwood Island manged to slip the castle undetected, taking with him the only remaining heir to the Greenwood throne.

So hiding within Greenwood Island, the legitimate heir grows strong and healthy everyday, and is unknowingly the only hope Greenwood has of ridding itself of the false royal family, taking them from power and saving the people from a horrifying life, or death.

And this is how their story begins...

SEVENTEEN YEARS LATER:

Rema is just a commoner in a kingdom ruled by brutality at the hands of a viscus king and his two sons. She has been shielded from the harsh reality of what really lies in the kingdom. She's content with raising horses and thrillingly riding them with her best friend Bren. Until one day all that changes, and Rema is quickly pulled into a viscus game she knows nothing about, and becomes the pawn in her ultimate downfall.

While out on one of her runs through the forest, Rema meets Darmik, one of the kings sons and commander of the kings lethal army. And what she sees in him is not a brutal, arrogant, blood thirsty prince like she thought him to be, but as a sweet, caring, and very handsome man, who seems to want the best for his people, but is forced by the king to do his evil bidding's. But the other prince, Crown Prince Lennek is the one she has to worry about. He is the opposite of Prince Darmik. He's evil, conning, vindictive, and is very quick to shed blood if it pleases him. And Rema has just unknowingly caught his eye and sealed her fate...

Rema is forced to marry the vile Prince Lennek, becoming the princess and future queen of Greenwood Island. Something Rema would rather die then become. But with no other option if she wants to save her family from a torturous death at the hands of Prince Lennek, she has to obey, and look pleased about it.

The kingdom of Greenwood Island is on the brink of civil war.

With the king rapidly increasing taxes, and quick to kill anyone he pleases, and the people quickly starving from the increase, and not having the means to support themselves, death has become a for sure thing on Greenwood Island. But their are some people who are fighting for peace and freedom, fighting for a new way of life, fighting to overthrow the king and his sons, and they claim the have just the key to do it...

The Key is coming...

That's the whispers in the streets, the hope that swells in peoples hearts, that's the words the rebels spread. The rebels are fiercely rousing the people to stand up for themselves and fight for their freedom. But with little hope of defeating the kings army, the people are quickly knocked down. But what if The Key to their salvation has been right in front of them all along? And what if their really is a rebel force that may just be strong enough to stand up to the kings army? What then?

Doesn't that sound fantastic? It was, it truly was!! I've never read anything by Davis, but she's quickly climbing the ladder into my favorite authors! THE KEY was an amazing start to an absolutely wonderful series that I'm actually almost finished reading, and loving! While writing this review I'm already reading the third and final book in this series! THE KEY was just that good that I instantly had to pick up it's sequel and see what happened after that terrifyingly wonderful cliffhanger Davis threw at us with full force! And book two and three is just as good, if not better then THE KEY!

Overall, I am highly satisfied with this book and the way it all played out. Davis has a way to grab the reader from the very beginning and keep hold until the very end. If you enjoy a spunky, quick-witted main character, with a hot love interest, and a kingdom on the brink of civil war, with evil kings and princes, and a great drama with plenty of action and adventure, then THE KEY is definitely one book you should check out!!

THE VANISHING GIRL was a fantastic book that I absolutely loved! I enjoyed this book so much that I instantly dived into book two, and am reading it now as I write this review. But after hearing book three wont be released until 18 months after book twos release date, I think my heart just shattered into a million pieces. This series is just so much fun that I can't imagine having to wait a whole 18 months until book three is in my need little hands!

The world-building was interesting. I loved the world set-up and teleportation aspect, but at the same time a lot of it didn't make sense and wasn't explained enough in detail to make it plausible and believable in my mind. Their were just too many layers of the teleportation that was not elaborated on and didn't fit with the reality of common sense. But their were aspects that did and was thrilling to endure. Each teleportation only lasted 10 minutes, so whatever they had to do had to be done quick. And that made it fun and thrilling to watch unfold. But nevertheless, even with it's faults this book was still so good. I was able to easily push some of the annoying stuff that didn't sit well with me aside, and dived head first into all the juicy, fun stuff.

I LOVED the main characters, they were all kinds of fun. Going into this book I thought I was reading a Young Adult novel, which is my usual genre. But as the book progressed and it got to the intensely intimate parts, I quickly learned that is was most definitely NOT a Young Adult book liked I once thought. This book was HOT, I loved the interaction that the main characters had with each other!!! They had this chemistry that swooned and stole my breath away whenever they were within distance of each other. It had some very heated scene that literally made me want to run and jump on my husband...lol!! But at the same time it wasn't overloaded with sex or all that overdoing of affection, but it did have it's fair amount that was definitely fun. But that was positively okay with me. The sex scene weren't that graphic or overdone, and had just the right amount of it all to give you a visual that was definitely satisfying and hard to put down!

But anyways, back to their actual characters traits not just their sexual relationship...lol! They were both great main characters. I had such a blast being inside Ember's head. She was defiant, quick to judge and long to trust, hard to open up and put faith in others. But smart, strong, determined, and definitely a survivor no matter the circumstance. Ember was hard to figure out, but fun to puzzle together and see where all the pieces fit. She was just an interesting and fun characters to explore.

And Caden, oh boy where do I even start with him! He was sooo incredibly HOT!! I mean all kinds of SEXY! The way Laura Thalassa describe him would get any girl all hot and bothered. But that wasn't the only thing I loved about Caden. He was so strong, I mean physically and mentally. But also cocky and arrogant, yet he was skilled and very intelligent, even if he tried to play that bad boy card. The boy had brains and mad skills that could get the job done and some! But none of that was done in a bad way and came of as very cute and was wonderfully done.

THE PLOT

Ember Pierce has been secretly Teleporting since she hit puberty, she doesn't know how or why, just that she can't let anyone know about her secret ability, or bad things might happen. Keeping it hidden from everyone in her life, Ember goes on like normal, but at night when she falls asleep she teleports anywhere in the world her mind takes her. She has no control over where or how she teleports, just that sometimes she finds herself waking up naked or in the weirdest predicament at her teleportation destination. But all that changes when she teleports somewhere someone else directed her too, and she just so happens to be dressed seductively with a gun and a piece a paper telling her to kill someone. Yeah, that's when Ember's secret teleportation world intertwines with her reality, and it all starts to unravel...

Kidnapped for her ability and taken to a facility for people like her, Ember is thrust into a world of the unknown, where nothing seems like it should be, and the one person who pulled her into this mess may be the only one to get her out, if she can stay alive long enough to find out...

Ember finds with a horrifying realization, that she has be mutated to teleport, and that the government is going to collect their property—her. Ember is a fighter, and she isn't going down without taking the Project down with her. But in order to escape and expose the life she's been forced into, Ember must bide her time and play by the rules, at least until she has the means to escape.

Ember is paired with the last person she wants to be around, Caden Hawthorne, the same arrogant, sarcastic, and insanely hot boy that kidnapped her and brought her into this terrible life, and she has no choice but to deal with it. But as the days drag on and Ember is still stuck in the facility, she starts to understand that pairing means a lot more then just your partner helping you around. And then the realization of what that means for her and her "enemy" hits her like a thousand bricks, and she must find a way out of it before she ends up like some of the other girls—pregnant, love-sick, and doomed. But then Caden comes to her aid in more ways then one, and makes her feel things she didn't even know was possible. And then she starts to rethink everything she once thought about Caden and his motives, and realizes she just may be starting to see the real side of him—a side she is starting to like, a lot...

Forced to go on high operative missions with barely any training, Ember has no choice but to step up her game if she wants to survive long enough to save herself. With her life in danger Ember is forced to take her missions more seriously. She becomes strong, faster, and a skilled fighter, but not just that, she does the one thing she was hoping not too, accidentally reveals her true strengths—strengths that the Project would love to exploit if ever discover.

With her life coming undone at the seams, Ember is forced to become someone she's not, a distractor. One of the Projects best distractors at that. Her job? Using her body, mind, and profiling talents to distract her targets. But Ember is quickly learning the hard way, that her so called "talent" may just be her downfall, and ultimately cost her her life...

THE VANISHING GIRL hit me by surprise and stole my breath and heart away! I did not think I would like this book as much as I did. At first I wasn't too keen on the whole teleporting aspect, it's definitely new to me, but the secretive opps missions, highly skilled spies, corrupted government, and the promise of hot romance caught my attention and lured me to this world. But I am so happy that it did, because I found myself eating it all up and falling head first into this world!! The teleporting was actually a fun aspect of THE VANISHING GIRL, even with it's lack of believability, it was still fun to see where Ember popped up next, and if she would be naked or in any other awkward situation.

Overall, THE VANISHING GIRL was a fun ride with loads of everything I love. Action, adventure, conspires, spies, combat training, aggressive missions, betrayal, suspicion, plotting, corruption, evil governments, romance, HOT sexual scenes, and one of my new favorites, Teleportation!! So if any of that sounds liked something you'd enjoy, then I definitely say to give THE VANISHING GIRL it's fair shot, it did not disappoint me!!

THE DEATH CODE was a fantastic sequel that kept me invested and on my toes the entire book. I LOVED this sequel as it takes us beyond the barrier and into the unknown. There was a lot going on in this novel, lots of secrets, trust issues, loyalty uncertainties, shocking reveals and revelations that were utterly heart wrenching and epically thrilling! I just couldn't get enough of it all, and then when it was over, I was SCREAMING for book three!!

Cummings really steps up her game in this sequel. Everything is more intense, more thrilling, more heart wrenching, and more shocking then the first time around. And I loved that about this book! Not many second installments that I've read surpassed its predecessor, but THE DEATH CODE did and some!!

I listened to book one and two on audio, and the narrator Caitlin Davies, one of my all time favorites narrators really gives this sequel it's well deserved voice. And Josh Hurley, the other narrator in THE DEATH CODE is almost as good as Davies, but not quite on her level just yet. But nevertheless, they make a great team together and bring this dark world to life, with just the right voice and superb acting to have the reader falling in love with book two all over again.

One downside to this book is my strong dislike for the main character Zephyr! And when you hate the main character, it makes it hard to get immersed into the story and really enjoy it. But luckily their was two main characters with dual POV's. And I LOVED Meadow to death, so it was easy to fall into the story regardless of my hate for Zephyr!

Like in book one, Zephyr drove me insane for numerous reasons, but I was happy that Cummings did mange to make him a tad less annoying, though not by much! I never liked him from the first time I read his POV in book one, and book two was not any better. I don't really know why I dislike him so much, but he just drives me crazy and makes me cringe whenever it's time to read his POV. Since trying to kill himself in book one, he seemed weak and unstable. And his puppy dog love for a girl he just met made me dislike him even more.

THE PLOT

~ MEADOW ~

Captured, tortured, alone, and betrayed, Meadow Woodson has lost it all in the name of survival. But she's not giving up, and she's determined not to let the Initiative win. No matter the obstacles, no matter the hardships, no matter the pain, she will endure it all to free her family, and she will make the Initiative pay once and for all, even if she has to die for it...

Weeks after being captured by the Initiative, Meadow endures daily torture sessions trying to breaker her into submission, and give up the whereabouts of her mother the trader, and Zephyr, AKA Patient Zero and the boy she's come to love. And also info about the rebellion, and who's behind it and where it's being housed. But Meadow is not giving in, no matter how much pain they inflict on her, and that only makes her torture sessions that much more painful. Until she finally gains the upper hand and escapes Initiative custody, determined to find and free her family from the worst place a human can possibly be, The Ridge, a place even more insane and deadly then within her own perimeter area. But that won't stop Meadow, and she's prepared to keep going until she either finds them ALL, or it kills her first...

~ ZEPHYR ~

Separated, controlled, vengeful, and determined, Zephyr has one goal in mind, find Lark Woodson, the mother of the girl he loves, and the woman who has controlled him since his creation.

His plan is simple:

Find Lark Woodson and either trade her for Meadow, or, if all else fails, kill her and finally get his revenge, and set the patients on a war path of blood and destruction on the same people who have turned them all into unknowing monsters. Lark Woodson ruined his life, she is the creator of all the evil and joy in his world. She has molded him into a complacent animal, controlled him to unknowingly kill for The Murder Complex. But she also created the only girl he's ever loved, Meadow. Lark has hurt enough people, and now it's time to even the score.

But as much as he wants Lark dead, he wants Meadow even more, and he's prepared to do the unthinkable to get her out the Initiative, alive. But fate is finally on their side when Meadow is able to escape her captivity from the Initiative. But their reunion is cut short when Meadow reveals her plan that could prove to be even more deadlier then staying with the Initiative. If Zephyr wants to stay with the girl he loves, then he will have to follow her into the unknown, and straight into the worst hell imaginable, The Ridge, where humans are being housed like lab rats and die faster then they blink.

It comes down to this:

If he wants to be with Meadow, the girl he loves, then he must give up everything he's been fighting for, his FREEDOM...

THE DEATH CODE was an epic blast full of action and adventure, pain and death, love and hate, but also betrayal and forgiveness. I loved that Cummings has grown in her writing, and that her plots only get more thicker and more intense with each book, and that the characters go throw this flip flop in development. And I like that they are definitely flawed, but also fiercely developed with an awesome set of character traits that makes them more fleshed out and realistic. I am so excited for the conclusion, and can't wait to see what Cummings comes up with next!!!

Overall, THE DEATH CODE was more thrilling and addicting then I ever anticipated it would be. I enjoyed this sequel even more then book one, and if Cummings keeps stepping up her game like this, then book three is going to blow me out of the water!! And though I did have my qualms about Zephyr, the plot was driven and fast paced enough that I didn't have much time to dwell on my hate for Zephyr. If you enjoy dark dystopian worlds, with thrilling plot twist, and shocking revelations, and a fairly good cast characters (Excluding Zephyr), then THE DEATH CODE is one EPIC sequel you DON'T want to miss!!

DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE was the most fascinating, most original, most thrilling, and most intriguing book I have read in a very long time! I've read so many great book this year, but DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE was so different then any of them that it made it stand out from the crowd, and made me see it in a different point view.

The concept of DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE was fascinating, and the more I read, the more I wondered how I would feel and what I would do if I was put in the same situation as Frances. And every angle I looked at it, their was no good outcome! And I could fiercely understand why Frances dedicated her life for revenge. And the way she devised her viscus plan was not only devious and conniving, but also down right brilliant and fabulous. And though some may not find the justice in the vengeance and revenge that Frances dished out, but I surly did. I guess that's why I connected with this book the way I did. Like Libby AKA Frances said:

"There's no better feeling than the deliciousness of a well-crafted plan executed perfectly."

I think that says it perfectly...

Carrie Ryan is absolutely brilliant!! This is my first revenge story, and though the whole vowing vengeance on someone is not a plot that I particularly love, but not one I hate either. But something about DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE drew me in and had me desperately craving it's vindictive adventure. Although I still don't think revenge stories will become one of my favorite genres, but if their as fierce, plot driven, and skillfully written as Ryan's, then I would jump at the chance for another good revenge story like this!

I loved the world-building of the DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE! It intrigued me from the minute I read the synopsis. And I'm not just talking about the revenge perspective of it either. I'm talking about the whole idea about a ship of people being murdered and it twisted to be a natural disaster. And the aspect of falling in love on a dazzling ship, and then having it all ripped away by a vicious event that changed their lives forever. And I LOVED the idea of a Titanic-like novel, but with the revenge twist!!

But I have to admit, as much as I loved this book I still found certain parts to be a little absurd, and over the top. I can't say what these issues were without spoiling it for you, and trust me, you don't want me to do that. But their wasn't too many of those parts, but the ones that were made me want to scream at Frances/Libby and say "Girl, what the heck are you doing????"

THE PLOT:

~ FOUR YEARS AGO ~

Frances Mace just wanted to enjoy a luxury's cruise with her family. Just wanted to reap the perks of young love found adrift a beautiful ship. To cherish the bounds of newly formed friendship discovered in the beauties of the ocean sea. To feel alive as she spreads her wings and sails the oceans vast body. Feeling the soft caress of water spraying up and flying in the air like the promise of true freedom.

All of those wondrous glories were found and lost the night the Persephone bleed red. When the joyous yacht that brought her to life, quickly drained it all away, taking her sanity with it. The night god turned his back on the Persephone and the 327 souls aboard. Because before the night is through, only 4 souls will remain. But before the week is out, only 3 living souls would be left to tell the tale of the night the Persephone was attacked, leaving the walls painted in crimson and screams echoing in the vast waters, replaying the horrors of the night the world ended on the Persephone. And that is the night all became silent in Frances's heart, and she became the Daughter Of Deep Silence...

~ PRESENT TIME ~

There has only been one word that has kept Frances Mace going since that blood-soaked night four years ago when her world ended, REVENGE... One penetrating thought that has fueled her heart to carry on, RETRIBUTION.... One outcome that thrives in the back of her mind, TRUTH... One way to get it all... DECEPTION....

After the agonizing seven days adrift in the ocean sea, Frances was finally rescued and pulled aboard Libby's father ship to the horrifying extent of her situation, and the devastating truth that she is absolutely and utterly alone. But somehow in the midst of all the death and destruction three survivors were left standing. But two of the three survivors are lying about that fateful night on the Persephone that ended the world she once knew. And Frances Mace knows with absolute certainty, that she was never suppose to make it off that yacht. And if she wants to live long enough to tell her tale, then she must remain silent, at least for now...

She's been bidding her time four years, lying low and remaining silent as the sea. Building her plan and researching everything possible about every pawn on her game board. Because the game is now ready to be played, the pieces are all lined up, every last detail played out in her mind, every angle mapped out to turn around in her benefit. And now it's finally time, time to put it all in motion and end this once and for all. It's time to make Senator Wells and his son and love of her life pay. Because Libby is going home, and all the unknowing pawns are going to come crashing down around her, and all will finally be revealed for the rest of the world to see...

Overall, the DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE was more then I anticipated and so much more then I ever dreamed it could be. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the atmosphere, the world-building, the plot, the revenge aspect, I LOVED IT ALL!! And though I did find certain situations a little much, and not as realistic as I would of liked. But I'm assuming you'll find that in any good revenge story as the author has to push the boundaries of what a person is capable of under the pressure of betrayal. But nevertheless, even with its minor flaws, the DAUGHTER OF DEEP SILENCE was still epic in more ways then one, and I am so happy I decided to give it its fair shot! Ryan has definitely just made my new list of favorite authors for 2015.

A tangled web of lies, deception, traitors, betrayals, all spun around a fierce loyalty, honor, determination, with an utterly sweet, and crazy sexy romance, that will get your blood pumping and chills running. ICE KISSED was a great sequel that I've been highly anticipating.

Being back into the world of THE KANIN CHRONICLES, and reliving the journey and struggles these characters endure, reminded me just how much I missed this world and the adventures it holds. Bryn and Ridley are both absolutely my favorite characters in this series. I adored them as a couple, and was thrilled to finally see them let go and give in to each other and their long suppressed desires. And theirs one part, Chapter 15, page 101-104 to be exact, where I swooned and was actually amazed by the sex scene that Hocking's threw in there. It was definitely boarding on the line of YA, and New Adult. But hey, I didn't mind one bit, I actually thought it was refreshing to see YA authors border that line, and take the romance a little step further!! But it was definitely as hot as it can get for Young Adult!!

The plot, ugh, how do I say this without making it sound like I didn't like the book, because I did, I liked it a lot actually. But it did have some flaws, just like the first book did, and the reason I gave it four stars. It felt like the plot was kinda at a standstill until the last quarter or so of the book, that's when it really started picking up and went into full blown plot.

There was a lot of the plot that I thought could of been cut out, that it just dragged and stretched to make a full length novel. The outline of the plot was amazing, I loved the ideas Hocking had, it's just the execution, and the direction she took to get to the bigger picture is what I struggled with. Some parts were boring, where others were just mildly interesting, and some were full blown thrilling. And that made me have mixed feelings and it was really hard to connect to the novel.

But nevertheless, even with it's flaws I still did thoroughly enjoy ICE KISSED, and fell hard for the ending. And I have a feeling the next book, CRYSTAL KINGDOM is going to blow this series out of the water, and be as explosive as I hope it will be.

THE PLOT

Bryn Aven is finally being accepted into the Kanin world where she's always been an outcast. Fair skin, blond hair, and blue eyes have always set her apart from the other dark haired, olive skin Kanin. But Bryn's fine tracking skills, sharp instincts, and fierce determination have always gotten her through whatever obstacle she's challenged with. But being different from the rest of her tribe always pushed Bryn to fight harder, longer, and aim higher then the rest. And finally that eager determination payed off as it slowly drove her up the latter to where she is now known as an excellent tracker with a great record. But what Bryn really craves is to become an official member of the Kings Elite Guard, better known as the Högdragen. And she will do anything to prove her worth, to prove she is just as good as the rest, to prove they are all equal...

But all the training in the world couldn't of prepared Bryn Aven for what she's about to face...

After the incident that left her knocked out unconscious on the Skojare palace prison cell floor, Bryn Aven is feeling like a failure. Letting Doldastam's two most famous criminals, Viktor Dålig and Konstantin Black slip through her fingers is no easy feat. But with the fate of her kingdom hanging in the balance, Bryn won't be beaten down that easy. She's determined to get to the bottom of everything threatening to tear the troll kingdoms apart...

Eager to help and determined to find answers, Bryn finds herself back at the Skojare palace, picking up where she left off with the queens disappearance. But just as Bryn felt it last time she was in the sparkling Skojare palace, she feels it now too. Something here is amiss, something is not right with the Skojare people, their up to something, at least some of them are. And Bryn Aven has just dug herself into a conspiracy so deep, she may not be able to pull herself out, alive...

This book had it's ups and downs for me. On one hand I really enjoyed it, but on the other, I felt it lacked depth, lacked a real plot. I mean the bigger picture was there, but the path getting to the main purpose and outcome of the plot was lacking. If that makes any sense?

I guess I would say the plot was a little bland. I mean almost the whole book was focusing around protecting a juvenile queen that didn't have a backbone to save her life, and won't stand her ground when needed. And after a while it just got to be annoying, and I felt like screaming "Move on already, bring on some different drama, some purpose, some action," in which it definitely lacked until about the last quarter or so.

But nevertheless, even with it's faults, ICE KISSED was a good sequel that I did enjoy. Especially the one VERY hot romance scene with Ridley, in which I was thrilled to finally see them showing each other some real love!! I ship them so hard and really hope Hocking's doesn't decide to through a love triangle in the mix now with Konstantin Black coming back into the main plot of book three, because that would absolutely ruin it for me.

ICE KISSED end on an thrilling cliffhanger and I'm so eager to pick up the last book CRYSTAL KINGDOM and see how it all plays out. Because I have a feeling the next book will be an unforgettable conclusion that will put book two and three to shame...

Overall, ICE KISSED was an interesting sequel with it's faults, but also it's perks too. The ending alone was well worth reading the whole book just to get to it. I loved the characters and their fierce determination, and the romance was definitely hot too. Either way, ICE KISSED was a great addition to THE KANIN CHRONICLES, and I'm very excited to see how Hocking's will bring this series to a close, and all the struggles Bryn will have to endure to save her people. If you like fantasy with paranormal aspects, with low action and adventure, but with court intrigue, and mystery, topped with betrayals, lies , conspiracies, and a slow burning, HOT romance, then ICE KISSED may be right up your ally!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

4.5 STARS

THE LOVELY AND THE LOST was a bombshell of a sequel!! Filled with everything imaginable, it made for a epic adventure that I absolutely loved exploring! Page Morgan steps her game up in this thrilling second installment, that had my heart-racing, hands-shaking, and fingers turning the pages faster then I could read them in awe and anticipation. Everything is more intense, more raw, more dangerous, and more suspenseful as ever, as the Waverly's explore their otherworldly gifts, their demon hunting talents, and face-off against the evil hunting them!!

The writing yet again was breathtaking... Truly heart-pounding and suspenseful from beginning to end!! The audiobook is DEFINITELY the way to go for this sequel, as the narrator Mary Jane Wells amply's Morgan's gifts of storytelling, and blows your audio app alive!!

The characters once again were fantastic. Every single one of them were developed and had their own distinct voice that separated them from each other. I loved them all for their own special reasons. They had such growth, yet were still learning about themselves and the world around them. And it was such an adventure watching it all unfold as they got stronger, wiser, and more prepared to battle the evil hunting them.

THE PLOT...

~ INGRID ~

In the short time since arriving in Paris, Ingrid's life has change drastically. Switching from her glittering gowns and ballroom parities, to taking up learning how to conjure lightening at will, and directing it from her finger tips. Oh, and slaying a demon or two while running from the fallen angle/demon Axia, and her plot to overtake the Angelic Order with her angel blood she stored within Ingrid's blood when she was a baby.

But Axia and her demon lackeys are not the only ones hunting Ingrid, their are others, humans who want her blood just as bad, if not more, and are determined to go to any length necessary to get it. But Ingrid's protector gargoyle Luc, would rather die then let that happen to her. And then theirs the hardest obstacle of all, the forbidden affection she feels for her protector gargoyle, and the serve punishment of death that follows if ever discovered it was acted upon. But with each passing day, Ingrid's love only grows stronger, but what hurts most of all, she's not even sure he feels the same way anymore, if ever...

~ GABBY ~

After attacked by a hellhound, Gabby is left forever scarred. Feeling self-conscious about her appearance, Gabby goes to great length to coverup her ruined face, especially from the love of her life, Nolan Quinn. Though Nolan doesn't seem to notice or even care about her scars, or what they look like. But their are others who think her scars are hideous, that they should be covered and surgically removed. But that is something Gabby is unsure of, even if she does hate those wretch marks raking down the side of her face. They are hers, and proof that she survived, that she is strong enough to become a demon hunter, that she can overcome anything short of death...

But nevertheless, scars aside, Gabby has never felt more alive since arriving in Paris and secretly taking up her calling on demon hunting. She loves it more then anything she's ever experienced, and wants to become a true member of the Alliance, a secret demon fighting organization that rids the streets of demons. But the Alliance has other plans for Gabby, plans that she is not ready to face, plans that she is determined not to fulfill...

~ GRAYSON ~

Now back home with his family in Paris, and fully exposed of what he truly is, Grayson battles his inner-demons day-in and day-out, and rivals with his thirst for the one thing he despises most, blood, and the urge to shift into what he truly is, a hellhound...

But when his father makes a surprise visit to Paris, and shuns him as he always does, demanding he stay away from "his" family, Grayson can't help but to want to give in and give up. But just when all seems to be lost, Grayson runs into something unexpected that may be worth fighting for, or should I say, someone worth fighting for...

I LOVED just about everything from this sequel. The romance, the action, the evened out pace, the paranormal aspects, the experimental side, the evil villains, ALL OF IT!! It was just the second installment I was hoping for and some!!

Overall, THE LOVELY AND THE LOST was truly breathtaking, enchanting me from the very first page, and leaving me yearning for the explosive finale that was sure to come. I really can't name anything that I found lacking, I loved just about everything in this thrilling sequel!! I would HIGHLY recommend this complete series to ANY paranormal/fantasy fan out there, I don't think you'll be disappointed!! Trust me, THE LOVELY AND THE LOST is one sequel you don't want to miss!!

What did you like best about this story?

4.5 Stars

Beautifully enchanting, and wickedly thrilling, CHANTRESS FURY has brought a whole new evil to this complex world, that was engrossing and addicting from start to finish!! With twist and turns, and a whole new plot line, CHANTRESS FURY was full of surprises and adventures that will keep you engaged and second guessing yourself until the very end!!!

The CHANTRESS Trilogy was epic, truly wonderful in just about every way! But I have to admit, I did have my doubts that I would like this trilogy at first for numerous reasons, and was reluctant to pick it up. But when I started to get into to the fantasy genre last year in 2014, I decided it was high-time I gave the CHANTRESS trilogy it's fair shot!! And let me tell you, the complete trilogy exceeded my exceptions and found it's way into that special category for books that I absolutely loved, and will read again and again for many years to come!

The world building in this conclusion was unlike the first two, and totally the best out of all of them!! I LOVE the idea about otherworldly creatures surfacing and attacking the human world. And the water turning against them, flooding their city and killing their people, and becoming the ultimate weapon instead of the trusted ally it's been. And Lucy finally finding her match in power. I just loved the whole plot idea and the way it was executed was beyond perfect!! Well done Amy Butler Greenfield, I applaud you!! ;)

One issue I did have in this one though was the romance. Don't get me wrong, I love Lucy and Nat, I think they're a great match and compliment each others personality. But what I didn't like and the whole reason I knocked off a half of a star was because Lucy and Nat were still fighting, still at each others throats, still neglecting the love that they grew and formed from book one. And they were doing it the entire book, right up until the very last chapter. And that was a HUGEEEEE let down for me. I mean it was okay in the first book, even in the second, but come on, I want the third book to be full of passion, and love, and acting desire. I want them to be building their relationship, and watching the romance blossom and bloom. Not suffering through them hurting each other, and determined not to be with each other but still have the love and desire burning at full force.

THE PLOT

After conquering evil at every turn, Lucy has come to accept that her life will never be easy, that she may have to always fight for her life and the peace of her kingdom. Being the last remaining Chantress left, she knows it comes with a heavy burden. But what Lucy doesn't know is that the real storm is coming, that all she's ever faced in the past is nothing compared to what she's about to face in the future...

THE SEA IS COMING. WE ARE COMING. AND WE WILL DROWN YOU ALL...

First theirs sightings of creatures in the sea, then a mermaid attack, then the waters rebel, fighting Lucy at every turn. Then serpents appear, killing men by the hundreds, then the waters come, flooding their city and drowning their people, then the music starts... Whispering of vengeance, and vowing to take it in blood, singing songs so similar to a Chantress, yet so different. Raging power so strong it surpasses Lucy's own. But that can't be right, can it?? Lucy is the last remaining Chantress alive, or is she...???

With the weight of her world on Lucy's shoulders, and her power at a standstill against the evil force driving their city to it's knees, Lucy knows she should be focusing only on the issue at hand, but she can't, her heart won't allow her...

It's been over a year since Nat walked out of Lucy's life, taking her heart and soul with him. And now that he's come back, and they're finally face to face again, all though's feelings come rushing back at once, bombarding her with the love she lost, and feelings she yearns to explore all over again. But time has not been on their side, and the unfamiliarity they feel for each other only strengthens the gap, and wears on their relationship until their left feeling more alone then ever, and more like strangers then lovers.

Lucy must untangle the web of deception and reveal the evil power unraveling their kingdom from the inside out. All while determining who—or what is behind it all, and what they hope to accomplish by turning the water, her most trusted ally, into her most feared enemy...

CHANTRESS FURY rocked the pages and had me fully engrossed until the very end!! I liked book one and two, but I LOVED book three!! This conclusion tied up a lot of questions that has been nagging at me since book one. And I am more then pleased with the way it all ended, minus my issue with the romance it was perfect.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommended this conclusion and the rest of the trilogy, as I'm sure you can tell with all my blabbering I LOVED IT...lol!! Each book in this trilogy had it's own special adventure that was thrilling and heartwarming to explore!! 4.5 Stars to this EXPLOSIVE conclusion of CHANTRESS FURY that you don't want to miss!! And 5 huge stars to the author, Amy Butler Greenfield for her creativity, suspense, and wonderful cast of characters that have made their way into my heart for years to come!! I can't WAIT to see what else Amy comes up with next, because I will DEFINITELY be reading it!!

What did you like best about this story?

4 Stars

A spiraling, dark historical paranormal, that has just about everything you could possibly crave in a Young Adult book. THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED was absolutely stunning and immensely addicting, I loved it for so many reasons!!

Wow, WOW, WOOWWW!!! That's how THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED left me feeling!! It had everything, I mean EVERYTHING!!! From it's historical background, and Paris setting, with a touch of fantasy, to it's terrifying supernatural creatures, and fierce powers, to it's many different POV's (But was totally done right), and hot French men, with one Scottish blood to entice any girls darkest desires, and it's thrilling vengeful demons out for blood, literally!! There was so much going on, but wasn't over done in the least! I loved that there was always something different going on in each POV, but still intertwined with each character and the overall plot of the story. It was just fascinating to be inside the dark, dazzling, murderous streets of Paris, where anything can happen, even in daylight...

THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED took a direction I usually try to steer clear of. It had multiple POV's, I mean A LOT of them. It had four steady POV's, but also some side characters got in a few chapters here and there too. Usually I get overwhelmed and feel the lack of connection towards the main characters when a book is written like this, but Page Morgan pulled it off and some!!! I can honestly say that I enjoyed every POV that Morgan threw at us. They all had their own distinct voice, and depth and character development, that made me want to pull back the layers and examine each of them and their hidden secrets.

But even though I did love them all, I did like some POV's more then others, but didn't dislike any at all. And that's how I know Page Morgan did these POV's just right. Because usually I can only handle two POV's in book at a time, and sometimes two is even too many without me getting irritated, and feeling the lack of connection to the characters and their struggles. But that did not happen here in THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED!! Nope, I felt the pull towards each and every character for their own special reasons. And I loved seeing the different angles of this world, and what each character felt and how it all connected and intertwined with each other. But out of all the characters, I would have to say Ingrid and Luc were my favorites. Though Gabby and Nolan ran neck and neck. But I also thought Vander was pretty hot too, in his own sexy/geeky kinda way. But nevertheless, Ingrid DEFINITELY belongs with Luc, even with his lack of being human, and it being forbidden with the vow of a death threat shall it be broken. If anything, that makes it even more enticing and desirable... ;)

The writing was absolutely spellbinding!! I alternated between audiobook and hardback, and OMG, the audiobook brought this story to life. The narrator, Mary Jane Wells worked her magic and portrayed the accents down for each culture and character, and brought a different spark of life to each POV with her wicked narrating!! But still, the true praise goes to the author Page Morgan, for not for her epic storytelling, fierce characters, and darkly thrilling world, this book would not be what it is, BREATHTAKING....

THE PLOT...

~ INGRID ~

After a terrible accident, Ingrid's life is forever changed. She's more then ready to leave her friends and life behind in London, and move back to her birth Country of Paris, France. She hopes she can put the past and the shameful scandal that sent her running behind her, and start anew with her twin brother Grayson, and baby sister Gabby. But then when they arrive in Paris to find Grayson missing, and not only that, but numerous girls have also disappeared, some even turning up dead and dismembered in pieces, scattered all around Paris. Ingrid's imagination starts to runs rampant, and she is perplexed at what could of possibly happened to her twin. Something sinister is at play, and Ingrid knows there's more to her brothers disappearance then what meets the eye, and she's determined to find out just what that is.

Searching for answers leads Ingrid out after dark, and strait into the horrifying truth, monsters really do exist... After almost being devoured by a hellhound, Ingrid is saved by a winged creature that she finds later to be Luc, her gargoyle protector. And even knowing he's her protector, and that he can't harm her, she knows she should still be scared, she should be repulsed by him, find him hideous, but she doesn't. She's drawn to him in more ways then she can fathom, but human/gargoyle relations are against the rules, and come with dire reprimand's if caught abused. But Ingrid can't find it in herself to care. Her heart wants what her heart wants...

But all that becomes an after thought when she herself starts to change, and she finds herself with a power she did know she had, a powerful gift, or curse depending on how you looked upon it, but it's just made her a target, and she's being hunted...

~ GABBY ~

Being the baby sister out of her sibling has never really made life easy for Gabby. And not being one of the twins as Ingrid and Grayson are, is a double blow to Gabby. Already feeling like an outcast within her own family, Gabby hopes that'll change when they move to Paris. But what Gabby doesn't except to find on the Paris streets, is a whole new world that will change her life forever...

Swept into the supernatural world, Gabby grips at with all she has. Joining forces with the Alliance, a secret demon fighting organization that rids the streets of demons, Gabby can't help but to be excited, and want to make herself useful. She tired of being little Gabby, she wants to earn her own place, become her own person, she wants to train to fight, and she's ready to start slaying some demons...

~ GRAYSON ~

After a horrifying secret is revealed, Grayson is sent to Paris months before his families arrival with the excuse of locating a livable residents for their family to shortly follow. But the truth is, Grayson's other half is starting to surface, weighing him down as something inside is fighting to be let loose, wanting to be feed and urging him to do things he would never normally do. But then before he can act on this impulse, he's kidnapped by a hellhound and taken to the underneath where monsters reside, feasting on humans and devouring their blood. And Grayson has just become their next human blood-bag...

Tortured and injected with hellhound blood, Grayson is subject to excruciating pain as his body starts to change, slowly giving into his inner-self he's been fighting. Something wants Grayson stronger, wants him bloodthirsty, wants him to feed an succumb to the impulse and fest on human blood, something wants him to become a monster, to become a hellhound...

These three siblings world collide, and ignite the supernatural world they've become entangled in. They will all have to rely on themselves and even their inner demon to make it through the horrifying monsters hunting them, and inside of them...

In this explosive debut, lives are forever changed, identities are exposed, inner demons are surfaced, betrayals are made, enemies strike, monsters are revealed as the supernatural and human world collide, and ignite the spark that inflames this world to the very core. And before all is said and done, it may be the ultimate downfall of humankind...

THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED was addicting from start to finish, and already has me reading the next book in the series and loving it just as much! I quickly fell in love with this world and the thrilling characters, and the dark tone that Page Morgan interweaves. I seriously cannot think of a single thing that I did not like about this book. BUT, even though I absolutely adored it, it just didn't turn out to be a 5 star read for me. There was nothing negative that jumped out at me, or deferred my rating, but my love for this book just didn't reach that level of awe and enjoyment as a 5 star read would. But nevertheless, THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED was epic, totally, addicting and swoon worthy to the very last page.

Overall, THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED was everything I hoped for and more. I loved the quick-witted writing, the enchanting world setting, the deadly creatures out for blood, the demon hunters cutting them down in the blink of an eye, the fierce character development, and the heart-breaking romance. If you like thrilling paranormal, with deadly creatures, set in the historical world in the dazzling City of Paris, with addicting characters and bitter sweet romances, then THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSE is DEFINITELY one book you DON'T wanna miss!!!

CHANTRESS ALCHEMY was a beautifully crafted, and a utterly amazing read, that I was absolutely pleased with on so many angles.

Amy Butler Greenfield breathes a breath of fresh air in this brilliantly original historical high fantasy world, of magic, music, power, lies, deception, and a sweet romance that is sure to leave you craving more!

THE PLOT...

Lucy is the last Chantress left, and with it comes the heavy burden she must bear in order to save England with her magic within. Lucy's newly developed power pulses and releases through her songs, aiming towards the hidden evil threatening to overtake what she once saved with her magic through her singing. But what she faces may prove to be far greater then any power she possess...

It's been almost a year since Lucy battled and defeated Lord Scargrave. Lucy thought the worst was over, but how wrong she was. It was just the beginning, and it's about to get worse! There's an evil hiding within the shadows, biding their time, and striking where it hurts worse, Lucy's magic...
Lucy has been filling her days with becoming one with her magic. Trying to understand the full depth in which her magic flows, when she gets the disturbing news. England has fallen under chaos and despair. Problems are arising around every turn. The king and the council has ideas on how to fix their ongoing problems in England. Their plan is to create gold from The Philosopher's Stone and the Gold Crucible. But just when they thought it couldn't get any worse, they realize the unthinkable, the crucible has been stolen, and Lucy is the only one that can get it back.

Lucy once again is need to use her magic. She is charged with locating the Crucible and discovering who was behind it. But as Lucy sets out to uncover the truth, she discovers that secrets and lies are around every corner, and not everything or everyone is as it seems!! Their is a darkness waiting, lurking, and ultimately ready to strike, and Lucy might of just met her match!

CHANTRESS ALCHEMY was an amazing second book. It did not in any way suffer from "The middle book syndrome" one bit. This book had me second guessing most, if not all of the twist, and the action and adventure kept me on my toes, While falling in love with the romance once again.

If you've read CHANTRESS, then you definitely need to read this book, because I have feeling you will NOT be disappointment. And if you haven't read the CHANTRESS, then wow, you are SOOO missing out on an EPIC series!!
