Historia
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

After seven years of bitter war, the end has come at last for the conflict known infamously as the Horus Heresy. Terra now lies within the Warmaster’s sights, the Throneworld and the seat of his father’s rule. But the way to the Throne will be hard as the primarch Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian and protector of Terra, marshals the defences.

Powerful And Relatable
Revisado: 08-21-22
Wow! Prey Without Ceasing by Andrew Franks is an intense Southern Horror! Well written, powerfully told, this story reached out of the pages and grabbed my heart with how much I identified with the horrors the young protagonist faced from my own childhood experiences! The horror built into the religious experience is shown so powerfully and effectively, but what also shows is the honest struggle a child faces in trying to makes sense of the world as one progresses into the world of adults. And without spoiling anything I have to say this book has one of the BEST closing lines in a book! Really relatable and an excellent read, ALSO an excellent listen if you enjoy audiobooks! Highly recommend and hope you give this book a read!

Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

All my life I’ve heard so much about Malcolm X but opinions very wildly. It was enlightening to hear from Malcolm X’s own words on who he is. The reader did an incredible job of bringing this book to life.

Historia
We know the universe had a beginning. With the Big Bang, it expanded from a state of unimaginable density to an all-encompassing cosmic fireball to a simmering fluid of matter and energy, laying down the seeds for everything from black holes to one rocky planet orbiting a star near the edge of a spiral galaxy that happened to develop life as we know it. But what happens to the universe at the end of the story? And what does it mean for us now?

Amazingly well presented. Helps break down the science so that I can understand it. A lot still went over my head but that means I need to listen again and put some personal study into it, but the author really does a great job of relaying the info in a way you can understand and gives you not only a foundation to stand upon but also steps to climb.

“If I were God, what would you want for Christmas?” With a thousand-yard stare, a haggard and bloodied marine looked incredulously at the war correspondent who asked him this question. In an answer that took “almost forever,” the marine responded, “Give me tomorrow." After nearly four months of continuous and bloody combat in Korea, such a wish seemed impossible.

Good And Bad Mixed In Together
Revisado: 12-11-20
This is a good book and 90% of it is superb and thoughtful and quite forward thinking, while 10% is backwards thinking sexism with a dash of homophobia for good measure and this makes me so incredibly sad.
The good: The author pulls heavily from his personal experience in war while also referencing millennia of writings on warriors and is incredibly detailed. This is useful for all who are considering military service, have had military service, are related to anyone with military service, or in fact have (or know others who have) experienced great trauma in life. The insightfulness with which the author examines this topic helps bring about several suggestions which if implemented would greatly assist any of the above people, or help others wanting to relate to them.
The bad: The author drops into unscientific personal allegorical opinions on gender roles and (briefly) sexuality, in a way that tries to put forth his outdated models of gender norms as a fact that we need to return to.
The balance: Overall this is a good and useful book which is quite forward thinking in many ways that is unfortunately marred with backwards thinking on gender roles.

Historia
In American Rule, Jared Yates Sexton upends those convenient fictions by laying bare the foundational myths at the heart of our collective American imagination. From the very origins of this nation, Americans in power have abused and subjugated others; enabling that corruption are the many myths of American exceptionalism and steadfast values, which are fed to the public and repeated across generations.

You may not agree with everything in this book, but this book will challenge your preconceived notions on American History and cause you to truly take stock in where we (The USA) are at a nation, how we came to be here, and where we need to go from here.
