Historia
I lost my parents as a kid, but a reverend and his wife took me in. They were good to me, even if there had never been many hugs. Then they started pushing me to marry a man I didn’t want, so I ran. I should have known the moment I walked through the clubhouse doors of the Devil’s Fury my life would never be the same. I just didn’t count on a bad boy biker being the one to finally make me feel wanted.

Short and action-packed
Revisado: 12-26-24
"Outlaw" by Harley Wylde is a gripping and intense romance novel that delves into the world of motorcycle clubs, danger, and redemption. As the second book in the Devil's Fury MC series, it follows the story of Outlaw, a hardened member of the Devil's Fury Motorcycle Club, who is haunted by his past and struggling to find his place in the world.
Elena ends up at the Devil’s Fury club house, after running away from home. Her parents intended to marry her off to a man much older than her. She has lived an isolated life, with little to no experience of the outside world, especially interactions with boys. Her innocence attracts Outlaw’s attention and, after she is drugged by someone in the MC entourage, he becomes her protector. He will share his house with her, until the culprit is identified and punished. There is more to the story and our main characters have to navigate, not only their feelings, but also a web of connections to dangerous men.
The dangers of living an isolated life or the unfortunate consequences of raising a child in an overprotective environment are clearly highlighted in the story. Elena kept hidden from her foster parents her attempts at finding out what is like to live outside a religious household. Still she was not ready for what she found at the MC house.
The self-discovery journey that both our characters take is described in detail, with the author doing an excellent job of expressing what they feel at every moment. We see them evolve: Elena becomes sure of herself and her desires, while Outlaw learns what is like to trust and love.
From romance perspective, what Outlaw and the heroine have is steamy and passionate, with plenty of chemistry and tension to keep readers hooked. Her lack of experience is compensated by her curiosity and desire to learn how to please him. Outlaw’s body has not been the same since an incident in his past – he’s lost part of the function in his fingers and has issues … performing (you know… “performing”). Elena wakes up this part in him and his protective side as well. She quickly learns the ins and outs of MC life and finds comfort in Outlaw’s arms.
The author does an excellent job of portraying the gritty and often brutal world of motorcycle clubs, while also highlighting the sense of brotherhood and loyalty that binds the members together. The story is action packed. There are a lot of things going on and because of the short length, it feels too fast paced. The elements from the other books in the series are added in a subtle way, enough to keep us wanting more from this world.
I’ve listened to the audio version and I must say that Umi Markkanen did an excellent job capturing our MCs’ emotions in her interpretation. I had no problem differentiating between characters, even when multiple females were in the same scene for example. Congratulations!
Overall, "Outlaw" is a thrilling and captivating read that will appeal to fans of motorcycle club romances and those who enjoy stories of redemption and second chances. Harley Wylde has crafted a compelling tale that is both heart-wrenching and exhilarating.

A great office romance
Revisado: 02-08-20
This was such an enjoyable read! Two people, one looking to move forward in his career and the other looking to begin working with the pros, meet and form an incredible team, not only during working hours.
When Melanie finds out her boyfriend (much older boyfriend) does not view their relationship as exclusive, she happens to be in the right place at the right time to meet an handsome stranger. Their connection is instant, and the attraction is mutual. The next morning, she wakes up at his place, no recollection of what happened and close to being late to her new job. I think you already know who her boss is, so I won’t mention it.
I am a romance reader. I read mostly Romance and I read a lot of Romance. Having a one-night stand with a stranger and realizing the next day that said stranger is actually your boss is not something new. It was explored in many other novels. But the way the author created these two is so heartwarming. Both are mature enough to see past their first encounter and have the good sense to start a healthy working relationship. I love how they evolve, and I love how comfortable they feel together.
But when work gets in the way, it’s difficult to keep the personal items at bay. An interesting plot, a little predictable, but with a good execution.
The narration was good. Verla Bond added a great voice to our main characters’ personalities and I did enjoy listening to her. However, I would have wanted a better interpretation of the male characters. With Melanie, she did a great job pointing out her moments of despair, but with Matthew I wanted a more decisive pronunciation or something that could give me a more “male vibe”, somehow.
All in all, I loved the book and I cannot wait to discover her other titles. I am giving 4 stars to the story mostly because of the predictability of the plot. But I had a lot of fun listening to the story and I would love to reread it. It was perfect for an evening of relaxation.

Funny, with a beautiful romance
Revisado: 12-24-19
“Starfish” brings us Marin and Brad’s story. She is focused on landing her dream job, he is a computer geek, with a rockstar career. Marin has learned the hard way never to fall for someone she works with, so she keeps her feelings for Brad in the friend zone. He has other intentions. Their relationship starts beautifully and evolves slowly, but in a nice way. They get to know each other and Brad even stands by her side in time of need.
Traveling with a rock band is not easy, especially because Marin was not very happy to do it in the first place. However, she takes her job seriously and she earns the support of the other guys. I liked her a lot, she is intelligent, funny, a good friend and the best PR assistant. Brad has always wanted a career in IT, but growing up next to his brother, he learned to love the life of a musician.
Lisa did such an amazing job with this book. By now, is the second one I’ve read by her and I can say I am a fan. She has a unique style and her characters have strong personalities, that go hand in hand with a nicely built plot.
I had a ton of fun reading the book, but listening to it is twice as fun. The narrators are fantastic. They easily got into the characters’ personalities and they just sound as they would in my mind! Erin Mallon and Sebastian York make a great couple and do it right! I adored the narration!
So whichever way you decide to go, it will be a great experience. “Starfish” is a book that will make you feel good, that will make your heart beat faster and even listen to some nice rock music! I loved it and I love Lisa Becker!

Absolutely Amazing
Revisado: 03-02-19
Oh, hello Vampire! I am loving the series so so much! I have just finished with book one and I already want to see more. I was so captivated I didn’t realize when time flew by. Because it’s action and then more action. And later something happens and … yes, more action!
I am a sucker for vampires (haha!), so give me one bloody (literary) story and I am all yours. And our Alexis with her crowd of helpers and enemies is so amazing. She has fighting in her, she has strength and one hell of a vampire to back her up. I liked her resolution to do what it takes to get back her humanity and how firm she is in keeping away from blood.
Refreshing and intense, we have a gathering of beings, each with a special personality. The characters are not alike at all. People, actually beings, from opposite sides must work together to defeat a common enemy. There is so much action, you actually cannot spare a minute. There is something happening all the time… I love it !
I loved the narration as well. Chelsea Stephens is amazing! Her voice acting is superb! She kept me all the way with the characters and her way of being sarcastic, funny, enraged, a vampire, a ghost and all the other personalities, incorporating so many emotions… she does it flawlessly, in my opinion at least! (but others think the same, so … )
Suffice to say I have found a new favorite series and a new favorite author. I do encourage you to read this one, audio is even better. It has a little bit of everything you want. It’s entertaining and awesome. What more can you need? Happy Reading!

Action and political intreague
Revisado: 11-17-18
What a book full of action! That’s the main thing and the main item that would describe it. We have tons and tons of action and a hard fight against the system. It takes one apparently insignificant foe to open one’s eyes and see the bigger picture.
I was so captured by the action and by the fighting scenes! The author does a great job at constructing them, but especially we have a great political system. We have fighters with superpowers and fighters willing to do what it takes to win, or to protect family and friends. With all these elements, I was thrown into a story that made me curious to see what would happen next.
The characters are quite all right. I liked their personalities and their will to survive and face the Federacy, but I also liked the relationship between them. However, I must admit I wanted a little bit more attention to their growth. We know they are fighters, but it looks like that’s all they are. Small scenes and quick lines may show a glimpse into their deeper selves, but that’s about it.
The narration was great, Audra Cook managed to capture the fights in her interpretation and also the panic, the strength and determination. Every scene she navigates with certainty and her voice is clear and easy to understand.
All in all, I liked the story quite a lot. Probably too much fighting made me decrease 1 star. I wanted a bit more from the story, I wanted to see more vulnerable sides of the characters. But I liked it and I’ll follow the author to see what other surprises she has for us J Happy Reading!

it gets better and better
Revisado: 10-20-18
How can I review such an incredible book without revealing what happens in book 1? I will limit myself to describing how amazing this world is, even if I have already mentioned that in my review for Intangible . A beautiful story that has geographical, physical and historical aspects that mix together in this explosive sequel.
Things are clear now, everybody has a purpose and everybody knows what they have to do. If they like it or not, that’s a different story. The fight against evil is starting and heroes will rise. I was not expecting the events in the story. I mean, from the first book to this second one, the characters evolve so much. Peter was a nonbeliever. He needed a scientific explanation for anything. Well, prove this! Lily, who in Intangible was as lost as a needle in a haystack now knows exactly where she belongs and how she fits in the legend.
There are so many elements that will keep you captivated and that will push you one chapter forward and then another, and then another… until unfortunately it ends. And that makes you wish for more. I love it and I have no other words to say it better! I MUST HAVE the conclusion now please?
The narration was amazing! I loved the emotions, I loved how she acted every scene and I loved the accent! I don’t know, I loved everything and so much about this audiobook.
This is a C.A. Grey month for me. I am also in the middle of another series by the same author and I am now a prisoner of her writing. Lucky for me, this is a high class prison and I feel so so good! Thank you J 5 stars!

Amazing world building
Revisado: 10-20-18
I have listened to C.A. Gray’s books and probably this will be a month full of reviews for those. She brings us this time another fabulous story, with a fabulous world and great characters! I am used by now with her amazing writing and to her way of sending us exploring, to her way of capturing our attention and … blowing our minds! Oh, and the covers! All her books have such beautiful covers!
Ok, back to “Intangible”. The author takes a legend and turns it into so much! One normal girl, who can see things beyond our world (yup, normal alight) discovers things she shouldn’t. She had no way of knowing she was already one step in, because she was already different. And with Peter at her side, there are promises for so much more.
We have great characters and a great base for our plot. But what I mostly liked was the world and all that comes with it. I mean, this book is not a short one. It has 12 hours almost. But I didn’t know when the time went by. I was so captivated and I wanted to know what happened next. And I cannot wait to follow with the next books in the series.
The narration was quite ok. It was a clear narration, although I must admit I would have liked a little more voice acting and a little more depth to our characters, especially because Lily is one strong girl. But other than that, I have no complains 🙂
All in all, I cannot wait to see what happens next and I cannot wait to spend more time in this amazing world! Congratulations to the author for yet another great book!

Worlds Expanding
Revisado: 09-19-18
What we have here is … great! You know how they say that books are like a door to another realm ? Or like a mirror into someone else’s existence? Well, this is the case with this book. “Semester Aboard” is a world of magic, on a ship, where teenagers learn and experience new places and much more. It’s so complex and so gripping!
Jean has seen something that she shouldn’t have and with that, she is pushed or dragged right into this magical world she had no idea it existed. I don’t want to tell more as this book will surprise you with every chapter, every page. I’m just saying that we have a very interesting magical system, we have a lot of magical beings, for all tastes and preferences, we have a lot of twists and a lot of moments that will keep you wanting more.
The characters are all interesting, not only for their abilities but also as individuals. One is funny, another is more serious, we have a relationship that has been going on for some time, we have a relationship forming. We have friendship that builds surely, but gets stronger by the page. I love their interaction and the dialogue is very interesting and funny at times.
Another interesting fact is that, while we have a world of magic unfolding before us, we have a group of students aboard a ship, on sea, traveling from place to place and studying. So while we get to see that on board, we see a lot of the outside world. The descriptions are fantastic and I felt a part of their trips and explorations.
While I had the advantage to listen to the audiobook, this is still a 14h audio. But the narrator did a wonderful job in my opinion. The way she acts each character helped me experience their emotions better and made me even more addicted to this novel.
All in all, Elizabeth Kirke has created something that I love and I want so much more! I cannot wait to read more of this world and follow up on the characters. They evolve so much in “Semester Aboard” so I am curious to see what will happen next. Amazing!

Love and Politics United
Revisado: 09-03-18
Ok, I have listened to book 1 and 2 in the last two days and I have fallen in love with the series. I am crazy for Jex and his magic, I love Enari and her strangeness – more in book 1 than in the second – and I loved the plot a lot!
Taking into account this is the second book in the story, I agree with what other people say that it can be read without taking into account “Errant Spark”. But, as I was expecting, some aspects of the story, especially when it comes to the political aspect or even understanding Jex and Enari better, as separate individuals, may seem incomplete without reading Book 1.
Our main characters are reunited after time apart and start a new journey together. New challenges face them – family and politics always in the mix – and they have important decisions to take. I liked how well the author balanced character and plot evolution and how the romance and court discussions were wrapped around one another. And speaking about character evolution, both Enari and Jex have come a long long way since “Errant Spark”. The author took care not only about their relationship as a couple, but as well about their individual growth and I loved that. They both make mistakes, none of them is perfect and that makes them more human, more close to our lives.
Narration – it took me some time to get used to the narration, as Ginny Ross has a strong accent and for a non-native English user like me, it can be quite difficult. But her pronunciation and her voice acting were very well executed. I liked her style and I liked her! Nothing to complain here either. I liked the musical intro – I aways like musical intros, they are like an invisible invitation. If the music is aligned with the theme, it can do magic for an audiobook, even if just for a few seconds.
All on all, I loved the series, I loved the characters and I love how the author manipulated all the threads in the plot. It is a series worth reading and a story worth talking about! Congratulations and 5 stars!

An intriguing story
Revisado: 08-05-18
This was such a wonderful story! It starts from one angle and gradually turns to someplace completely different! It takes the reader to a world somewhat close to our imagination, but so far in the same time. We have a world of robots, a world where people are being replaced easily. However, some things are not what they seem .
Rebecca’s world is turned upside down once she meets Liam. She is pulled into the conspiracy theories that her father also believed. She wanted to stay away, to follow her dreams, but sometimes destiny calls us to the right path. Once she sees things as they really are, she becomes as involved as her father. Well-built and with a lot of character development, the relationship between Liam and Rebecca easily grows and becomes something more.
I loved how the author offered life to an AI – Rebecca’s best friend. This character was so well created, enough to make it human, but also not forgetting it’s still a robot. Madeline is so innocent and intriguing! Her presence gives a lot of substance to the story.
The narration was quite all right. Even if we have close to no voice acting, it was a clear narration. I had no trouble understanding the words spoken to me. I must admit, in a world of robots, I wished for a little bit of sound effects here and there. But I’m ok, no hard feelings.
All in all, I loved the world, I loved the characters and I cannot wait to read more from this series. C.A. Gray is no disappointment when it comes to her writing. I love her style and I love the way she changes her characters throughout the story. 4 out of 5 stars. Enjoy J q
