Outstanding & uplifting

Jazmine’s confessions will inspire many girls/women. I love her rawness & the musical performances in between. I WILL be listening again :)

Historia
Twenty-four months ago: Neon gets chased by a dog all around the parking lot of a church. Not his finest moment. And definitely one he would have loved to forget if it weren’t for the dog’s owner: Aria. Dressed in sweats, a t-shirt, hair in a ponytail. Aria. Way more than fine. Twenty-four weeks ago: Neon’s dad insists on talking to him about tenderness and intimacy. Neon and Aria are definitely in love, and while they haven’t taken that next big step…yet, they’ve starting talking about…that.

Poetic Perfection
Revisado: 10-15-24
Jason Reynolds never disappoints. I love that this story takes you through time with rhythm in every sentence. I love the pathos that’s woven between Neon and his loved ones (especially his grandparents). The story being told completely from the male POV was necessary and impactful. I love the vulnerability that is at times rare with male characters in YA novels/reality. It’s the perfect layered love story :)

Historia
Sharp-tongued (and secretly soft-hearted) Kiki Banjo has just made a huge mistake. As an expert in relationship-evasion and the host of the popular student radio show Brown Sugar, she’s made it her mission to make sure the women of the African-Caribbean Society at Whitewell University do not fall into the mess of “situationships”, players, and heartbreak. But when the Queen of the Unbothered kisses Malakai Korede, the guy she just publicly denounced as “The Wastemen of Whitewell,” in front of every Blackwellian on campus, she finds her show on the brink.

Masterfully written novel!
Revisado: 01-23-24
Must read! Kennedy Ryan has taken a subject matter that everyone might not relate to and makes them relate to it. And you’re not forced or pressured either rather, the writing and description and the thousand tiny details that humanize us as a people, gradually reels you in. You will be invested in each character, even the dog: Otis. This novel has made it to my Top 5 Best Books of All Time list. Thank you, Kennedy Ryan for producing this masterpiece. You’ve got a fan in me :)
