While his answers to her questions finally bring clarity, they also usher in danger. But that's not all her elusive father brings into Sylvia's life. His treasured gift of an ancient journal passed down through the generations, connects her to the past with its mystical spells and captivating stories.

It draws to a close
Revisado: 04-02-25
I enjoyed these books, both sets, this book being my least favorite. It was still a fun ride. Spoilers: I was looking forward to hearing about Sylvia and Gabe’s relationship, but this final book lacks that. It’s very disappointing. The book also has far too much angst. I felt like I was reading about a middle-school girl making very poor decisions most of the time. Sylvia didn’t learn throughout the books. She kept making the same mistakes over and over. Those mistakes could’ve gotten people killed. I prefer characters that learn and grow. I also like happy endings that aren’t rushed. And I definitely could’ve done without Willie.

When a palace maid is attacked, Josie and the captain of the guards investigate together. Since one of the suspects is a foreign diplomat and magic expert, they use the opportunity to learn more about sorcery. Reconsider this writing trope
Revisado: 10-15-24
I’m enjoying the books for the most part, but notice a very frustrating pattern with the main character. We’re to believe she’s smart yet continually puts herself in situations where she’s physically harmed, and if it weren’t for dumb luck, she’d have been raped, murdered or both. This writing trope is infuriating. It’s happened repeatedly already and we’re only two books in.

I did not order the extra slice of Armageddon to go with my midlife crisis. Apparently, if you’re an Immortal, it comes free of charge. I have until sundown tomorrow to get to a parallel plane of existence, save my family, and kick bad-guy butt all before the world ends. Impossible, right? Not according to my posse of whackado buddies. They like to remind me that nothing is impossible as long as I believe. Well, I’m about to be the mother of all believers.

Too Many Now - Time to Stop
Revisado: 01-17-24
I really enjoyed these in the past. There are too many now. I find myself fast-forwarding to get to the end. I’m barely focused on the stories anymore because they feel like they’re being written just to have another “episode” available for financial gain. Don’t get me wrong, financial gain away, but this story should’ve ended a while ago. I won’t be purchasing anymore.

Queen Elizabeth II’s death ruptured the already-fractured foundations of the House of Windsor—and dismantled the protective shield around it. With an institution long plagued by antiquated ideas around race, class and money, the monarchy and those who prop it up are now exposed and at odds with a rapidly modernizing world.

Shouldn’t be surprised
Revisado: 12-04-23
This is bittersweet for me. Although not necessarily a royal watcher, I absolutely loved Diana. She would be so disappointed at the level of hate and manipulation thrown at Harry (and Meghan) from his brother and Kate, with full complicity of the media. It’s vile. They’re vile. May the Monarchy come to an end quickly. The corruption within the institution itself is disgusting.

Mom, Dad, ex-boyfriend….to be honest, I got to a point where I didn’t care who committed the murder, I just wanted her to stand up for herself. VERY frustrating.

Very Enjoyable
Revisado: 05-27-23
These audiobooks were very enjoyable. The story kept good pace and was low on angst. It’s hard to find 43 hours of story and not speed up the narration in spots just to get through it. I can happily say, that didn’t happen here. And the narrator did a great job!👍

I Prefer Less Angst
Revisado: 09-20-22
My rating of 3 stars is because I’m not a fan of angst and emotional immaturity. Too many of the characters had these same issues. If you are ok with angst-filled stories, this is worth a credit.

Historia
The bride is a doll. The groom is the perfect gentleman. But the rest of the wedding party? They're the stuff of nightmares. Rich? Check. Vapid? Double check. Entitled? Not enough checks in the world. And the best man? More like the worst man. But maid of honor Franchesca takes her duties seriously. Kidnapped groom? She's got this. Rude attendees? You just watch her handle them. So a best man with a big attitude and an even bigger...checkbook? Yeah, there's no way she's going to let that pretentious, judgmental jackhole ruin her best friend's wedding. No matter how sexy he is.

Couldn’t Finish
Revisado: 05-07-22
I was enjoying this book until the kidnapping nonsense. It was such a turn-off, I couldn’t finish. It’s beyond difficult to read/listen to stories where all is forgiven if the proper goo goo eyes are thrown a female’s way. Or his package is just too glorious. Seriously?! There is no relating to the world written about here. This is so degrading to women. And it’s written by a woman. Even worse. I never got past chapter 21. I have no idea if it improved. Wasn’t willing to spend the time, even at twice the speed.

Exhausting Characters
Revisado: 03-28-22
I’m glad I started reading Penny’s books with the Winston Brothers series instead. They were very enjoyable. So far, with the Knitting in the City books, I’ve listened to books 1, 1.5 and 2 and the one word that fits for me is exhausting. The books could’ve been 8 hours shorter, each. The neuroticism of the characters really detracts from the stories and lengthens them unnecessarily. Had I started reading Penny Reid with this series, I may not have read any others. Don’t know if I’ll finish the series at this point.

Historia
"Hi Monty. Wanna see my python?" That's how I ended up in the bathroom of some dive bar with a stranger. Me, Monty Andrews, the quintessential virgin girl next door. I was so out of my element, but there was no denying our explosive attraction, even via text. Commence Operation Bang Each Other Out of Our Systems, because that was all it was - unfinished business. I had no intention of falling back into the sheets with the tattooed, muscly, dirty-in-the-best-kind-of-way single dad over and over... but I did. Everything was going great - until we discovered I was his son's teacher.
