Not a great performance
Revisado: 02-02-21
The accent of the narrator sounds put on and out of place but it could just be that it doesn’t match the story. The actual reading is done well enough though. There’s a flow that fits the poetic nature of the story and they aren’t stilted or monotone.

Historia
By the time Umberto Eco published his best-selling novel The Name of the Rose, he was one of Italy's most celebrated intellectuals, a distinguished academic and the author of influential works on semiotics. Some years before that, in 1977, Eco published a little book for his students, How to Write a Thesis, in which he offered useful advice on all the steps involved in researching and writing a thesis.

Practical and funny
Revisado: 01-30-20
“How to write a thesis” is filled with practical advice. The pacing of the book is easy to follow and the content is easy to grasp. I definitely recommend it. The physical book is useful for referring to the many examples so I ended up buying that as well though this audio version does come with a PDF of those images.

Historia
An undeniable masterpiece of Western Civilization, The Metamorphoses is a continuous narrative that covers all the Olympian legends, seamlessly moving from one story to another in a splendid panorama of savage beauty, charm, and wit. All of the gods and heroes familiar to us are represented. Such familiar legends as Hercules, Perseus and Medusa, Daedelus and Icarus, Diana and Actaeon, and many others, are breathtakingly recreated.

No translator credited
Revisado: 01-16-20
With a work like this it’s good to know who the translator was because it’s so different version to version. The translator adds in their own experience of language and that can shift things pretty drastically. The fact that no translator is credited at all makes me not trust this version.

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 05-24-19
I was skeptical because this book revives well loved characters but it was an enjoyable book and I think Walsh does a good job capturing them and their environment.
The narration is not great but not awful. Some words are mispronounced (can’t tell if this person is putting on an English accent) or stilted. That said it didn’t distract from the story too often.

Historia
When Douglas B. Douglas - leading light of the London theatre - premiers his new musical extravaganza, Blue Music, he is sure the packed house will be dazzled by the performance. What he couldn't predict is the death of his star, Brandon Baker, onstage in the middle of act two. Soon another member of the cast is found dead, and it seems to be a straightforward case of murder followed by suicide.

Not terrible
Revisado: 03-17-18
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. It is funny and the characters and scenes are enjoyable. It isn’t a great story though.
(Spoilers!)
This story breaks the standard formula. The inspector is not a genius and both he and his son are rather bumbling. Like in life the stage manager is the only person of any intelligence or ability.
