I was initially happy to hear there would be two narrators. I naively thought she would do all of Margarita's lines/POV and he would do for Zacharias. Instead, they switched back and forth sometimes for no reason. That being said Dark Predator is one of my favorite books in the series. I love it.

This book claims to set out a balanced view of the West and the rest. Unfortunately, the book is nothing but arrogance and an over estimation of the values of the Western system. I found the accents used by the narrator to be Annoying and at times almost offensive. I often don't actually review books but this by far was the biggest disappointment I've had in a while. There are much better books on the subject.

I am pretty reliably liberal in my views and a firm believer in hard science over opinion. That being said, this is a book of pure opinion. Jacoby spends much of this book insulting those that might otherwise agree with her and preaching to the converted. I'm forcing myself to finish, but she doesn't have any of the academic credentials to back up some of her analysis and falls into the same traps that she rails against in this book. Its not her atheism that turns me off, I was able to digest Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens without any problem. I wanted to agree with her on many points, but I couldn't get past her arrogance and opinions passed off as analysis. There are plenty of other books out there that treat this information with an even hand. The War on Science by Shawn Otto was a much better read.

A Scary Indictment of My Parents Generation

I've long said the Boomers have bankrupted the United States with their shenanigans in the 80s and their obsession with Voodoo Economics, but this book takes it even farther. When discussing this book with my Mother, she immediately got defensive. As a younger boomer from an impoverished area, I'm inclined to be a little softer on her, but the generation as a whole are pretty much to blame for our current situation. I once saw a statement about my own generation, Gen X, we're paying for our parents and our kids can't afford to move out. That seems to be the future of this country as our parents retire footing us with the bill for their malfeasance and our kids will not be financially able to pick up the significant slack.

As a science lover, mother, and human being, I can't recommend this book enough. I'll be tracking down a physical copy for my library.
