Maybe I'm being harsh however...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who likes obnoxious spoiled women. I haven't read/listened to any other books in the series and if the characters are 1/2 as annoying as the main female in this book I just don't want to know.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I listened to Jude Deveraux's "Ever After" once this books was completed. That story was wonderful, both the story and narration.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christina Traister?
Anybody, why is it so many female narrators can not narrate male voices without them sounding stupid and slow? The main male voice displays no emotion and the female sounds superior.

Historia
Life is anything but perfect for Hallie Hartley, a young physical therapist who has given up nearly everything - even her love life - for her beautiful blonde stepsister, Shelly. Though Shelly's acting career has never taken off, she has certainly perfected the crocodile tears to get what she wants - which all too often means Hallie's boyfriends. When Hallie arrives home early from work one fateful day, she makes two startling discoveries that will turn her life upside down.

As always, Ms. Deveraux delivers
Revisado: 08-08-15
What other book might you compare Ever After to and why?
This is a romance without the explicit intimacy you find in many books today and follows the footsteps of all the other excellent Deveraux books.
Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't recall reading any other performances of Kirsten Potter however, I would be willing to if other books sound interesting. She delivers an excellent performance even with the male characters which I sometimes find sub-par with female narrators.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
Any additional comments?
It is sometimes difficult to listen to non-suspense romances simply because the move slow and while not bad less engaging than suspense or mystery romances. This book, along with every other Jude Deveraux book seems to be an exception because I am truly engaged through the whole story and do not want to miss a word narrated the entire book.

Historia
Nestled on the Oregon coast is a small town of rocky beaches and rugged charm. Locals love the land’s unspoiled beauty. Developers see it as a potential gold mine. When newcomer Hank Cooper learns he’s been left an old friend’s entire beachfront property, he finds himself with a community’s destiny in his hands. Cooper has never been a man to settle in one place, and Thunder Point was supposed to be just another quick stop. But Cooper finds himself getting involved with the town. And with Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful.

A bit slow for a listen.
Revisado: 04-14-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not time well spent. The book while not bad was definitely slow. It felt more like an introduction to the town and the individuals rather than the "romance" it claims in the description. In fact, the two protagonists do not meet until well into the book. Also, the mysterious death being investigated felt like it was an afterthought, written by someone not used to writing the details of a mystery or suspense.
What aspect of Therese Plummer’s performance would you have changed?
I had difficulty discerning the different male characters. If I skipped ahead 30 seconds (which I admit to doing upon occasion) I would be lost in determining the male character(s) in the scene since everyone from the 16 yr old boy to the 37 yr old man sounded the same.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Nope
Any additional comments?
I read a later book in this series before listening to this book, it's what made me want to read this book. However, it was a disappointment. I would read additional books from this author/series, just not listen to it.

Secrets rule Lana’s life. Her father’s death brought some out into the open, but she has a few of her own: 1) she’s been married to Blake for nearly a year - and trying to get a divorce for most of that time. 2) A moment of emotional weakness and too much champagne ended with her in her husband’s arms - and now she’s pregnant.

A different narrator may help, but I'm not sure.
Revisado: 01-12-15
Would you try another book from Heather Tullis and/or Valerie Gilbert?
If I try another book by this author it would be so I can find out what happens to the rest of the sisters in the series but in a format where I don't have to listen to Valerie Gilbert talk and I can skip pages at a time.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I found the ending expected but I was not disappointed at all.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Valerie Gilbert?
Just about anyone. The first book I listened to by this narrator I thought she was annoying but bearable. The second book I partially blamed on the page after page of whining and woe is me attitude of the MC. However, it turns out this narrator makes all females sound whiney, obnoxious and snobbish.
