Historia
Heather is a single mom who has always done what's best for her daughter, Chloe. From birth up to the age of seventeen, Chloe has never been any trouble, until one night when she calls her mother with some shocking news. There's been an accident. And now there's a dead body. As always, Heather puts her daughter's safety before all else, but this is one time when she goes too far. Instead of calling the emergency services, Heather hides the body, saving her child from police interviews and public outcry.

Another stupid woman book
Revisado: 09-28-24
I usually find this author entertaining , but this book is ridiculous. Near the beginning of this book a police woman receives a call from her daughter telling her she left a party with a boy, they went to a park and he fell hitting his head and died. So what does the mother do? She speeds to the park and buries the body. The story never improves, just gets more preposterous.

Historia
Mum passed recently. It was sudden and unexpected. On the cusp of adulthood, my twin sister, Skye, and I are left with decisions to make that will change our lives forever. As identical twins, we’d normally stick together like glue, but anger and grief gets the better of us and we push and pull in different directions. At an impasse, each of us stubbornly gets our wish. Finding myself alone and without the other half of me, I’m desperately lonely. I need a friend. But, when I find that special someone, I know I’ve made a terrible mistake and trusted the wrong person.

Irritating
Revisado: 09-25-24
Near the beginning of this book there is a phone call regarding a woman who disappeared seven years ago, the phone is answered by the missing woman’s twin who decides against informing the police. This stupidity continues and grows throughout the book. I really dislike books that portray women as totally incompetent and dumb. I felt like I was watching a horror film where the audience is screaming “don’t go down the basement” as a woman descends a dark staircase.

I really disliked this book. Ridiculous plot, torture, murder, stupid people, and totally unbelievable. Most of all, this book is boring.

Historia
Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo - he's just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn't absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

Wear it out, use it up, and quit shopping
Revisado: 07-22-23
I don’t really understand much of the minimalist mindset. Yes, I agree we have too much stuff, but throwing it into a landfill is not very rewarding. Even donated goods tend to end up as garbage. I’m trying to simply buy less and use what I already own. My minimalism would be to ask myself if I really need an item before purchasing.

I just want to hear a story, not listen to condescending explanations of human behavior. If it wasn’t for all the educational sidebars I might enjoy the book, I may be too annoyed to finish.

Jessica, Stephanie and Priyanka are complete strangers, but they have one thing in common: they’ve each received a letter accusing their husbands of committing a sexual assault more than two decades prior. Is the accusation true or is there more to the story? It was a secret that remained buried for years. With their worlds suddenly turned upside down, they don’t know who to trust—a complete stranger or the men they love and built their lives with.

30 years later
Revisado: 01-28-23
3 wives with “good husbands” (men who were loving, good fathers and providers), discover their husbands had raped a girl 30 years ago. The story is their response to this news, I found their resulting behavior to be totally unrealistic. Book did hold my interest and the narrator did a good job.

Struggled to hear
Revisado: 01-24-23
Imogen Church is my favorite narrator but this book was a disappointment. I listened through Alexa, perhaps a headset would have been better. I was constantly telling Alexa “volume up”, “volume down”, “go back 3 minutes “, etc. The problem was all the important parts were spoken in a very soft voice which was difficult to hear. The story was interesting, farfetched, but that’s ok, it’s fiction. It was just such a painful listen. I’m not sure who’s responsible, Ms. Church, a sound engineer, Alexa? Whatever the problem, it spoiled the book for me.

Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

Love it or hate it.
Revisado: 09-17-22
I loved every word of this story. The narration is incredible, it’s extremely moving. I cry very easily but didn’t actually shed tears till the end. I found it suspenseful and heartwarming. I loved that it was written in first person, in letters written by different people. I listened to this book in two days, I think this book is best listened to in long stretches of time.
If you like action rather than emotion, if you don’t like accents, and you listen in bits and spurts, you will probably dislike this book.

A must read for dog lovers
Revisado: 09-10-22
I’m a dog fanatic and listen a lot of dog stories, this is one of my all time favorites. It is read by the author and he’s the perfect reader. His gravelly voice and southern drawl are delightful. His living situation is not what you expect from a Harvard educated writer/journalist. I found everything about this book amazing, from the opening quote “Who wants a perfect dog?” to the final line “ No cats were harmed in the making of this book”. I listened to it in one sitting, spent six hours going through a range of emotions - lots of laughter, some tears. The best thing is Soeck makes my little pug seem well behaved.

Groan
Revisado: 07-30-22
This is a terrible book. I think the main character is supposed to be a strong woman, but I found her lies, duplicity, and venomous man-hating to be stupid and tiresome. Why does she never confide in her saintlike husband? And let’s not forget the misogynist professor dabbling in mind control in order to send women back to the Dark Ages. Too much, too much, too much.
