The story and narration were superb. Typical simple people just wanting to live a quiet life but the government is filled with all the bad seeds who want nothing more than control. I’m on pins and needles for a sequel!!

This was definitely a fun listen. It has everything from love to hate and all the crazy in between. I couldn’t even begin to guess how it would end, but I listened straight through. Worthy of the credit.

Jae!

I’m a huge fan of Jae! To pair this wonderful writer with the phenomenal Abby is a no brainer 5 star for me. Even though this may be thought of as a typical F/F romantic HEA, there is always more meaning to Jae’s writing. Always worth a credit where either writer or narrator are concerned. If you enjoy typical romantic drama - girl meets/loses/gets back scenarios, which is honestly one of my biggest pet peeves of this genre - then you may score this a little lower as this doesn’t have that. Definitely a slow burner.

One of the best books about LGBTQIA famous and not so famous characters in the film industry I’ve heard in a long time. The character development and storyline had me entertained for hours. Can’t wait to see another book available by this author. Definitely was worth the credit for me.

Thought provoking

It took me a couple of chapters to grasp the fundamentals of this book. I’m glad I didn’t put it down. By the time I finished I was already wondering all the what if’s in this world vs other’s. Did all the ones that got away in this one also get away on any other world? I also liked that the romantic portion of the story was always on the periphery. I enjoy a good sci-fi story and this didn’t disappoint for me. It’s also nice to see a good story tastefully written with same sex characterizations.

Don’t listen while driving

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. First let me start with, yes I can’t wait for the next book. This is a very complex and emotionally challenging book. I almost feel like I’m in an abusive relationship with it. One moment we’re going through the “nice to meet you and learn more about you” phase and you sound a little beaten down and here let me help you carry your baggage to the “meet and greet the friends and family” and now I know why you’re so messed up but you still have that je ne sais quois about you. Then the abuse begins and you’re starting to piss me off. Next is the drowning. There are moments of reprieve but those are far and few between. By the end I’m so immersed I stop breathing until I realize there’s a second book on the horizon. The water recedes, my hope is back and I think maybe 🤔 we can make it.
Honestly the author did such a fabulous job of “authoring” and the narrator did a wonderful job of helping her flesh out the characters that half the time I wanted to pull the protagonist turned antagonist straight from the proverbial pages and slam her on the table! Okay it was all the characters at one time or another. I was so angry through most of this book that it’s good I wasn’t driving or I’m sure there would have been serious road rage on my part. I’m a huge fan of HEAs and hate cliffhangers but here we are. One cliffhanger (check), HEA (?) who knows but as I stated earlier I’m hopeful.

I will simply say “Wow”. I won’t go into a diatribe on this forum as I have already placed all of my opinions on the other two books that go along with this story. As you can already guess I loved this book. Kyra without a doubt is a superb author (jealous!). If you enjoy this book as much as I did listen/read the next two books that go along with it..in order of course. No, I do not know the author, no I wasn’t given a *free* copy to review, I gave honest money to this author who worked hard to get a great book out to us. I simply love lesfic authors who willingly go against the grain to get books out to those who get lost in the heteronormativity of life and need there to be a safe place to escape. Thanks again Kyra.

I was hoping for some more in depth look into the relationship between Isa and Kailynn and here it was. Not technically a sequel but *spoiler alert* there is a little more to the story within these pages! This is not the first time I had “read” The Significant as I had done so when it was first on kindle and thought I had mis-remembered it but as I learned from the author, it was simply re-masterfully edited. (Thank you for explaining this Kyra because I was thinking early onset dementia-whew what a relief!) I won’t lie and say I don’t prefer this version as I absolutely do, It’s just a little unsettling that as an artist we sometimes must cave to the demands of others to put forth a product that wasn’t true to our imagination in the first place. I will say the darker version of this story was just as masterfully written and unsettling as it was I was still just as willing to purchase the audible version when it came out. I’m happy I was able to experience this version as well. I want to also point out that Kyra does an amazing job at narrating simply because most authors don’t. Thank you for an awesome ride on Taos, I feel completely sated now...One more thing - don’t think about reading/listening to these books out of order!
