Love this author and the narrator :)
Revisado: 12-30-20
Love these stories and the narrator is superb. His voice and accents and performance are great. Very soothing to listen to.
I love legal thrillers that have great characters, a quaint town, and believable story lines. Al Macy has done a great job! I can picture the town as he describes going here or there. All of the main characters are people you wish you knew in real life. During these uncertain times, these stories are a nice escape.

Historia
When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, approximately 160,000 Jews called Berlin home. By 1943 less than 5,000 remained in the nation's capital, the epicenter of Nazism, and by the end of the war, that number had dwindled to 1,000. All the others had died in air raids, starved to death, committed suicide, or been shipped off to the death camps. In this captivating and harrowing book, Leonard Gross details the real-life stories of a dozen Jewish men and women who spent the final 27 months of World War II underground, hiding in plain sight.

Gives new insight into a terrible time in history
Revisado: 07-17-19
This book tells the story of people surviving against unimaginable odds during a terrible time in history. I am not finished with the book, but so far it has been a very interesting read... Rather than a depressing rehash of the horrors of the Nazis and wartime in general, it tells the personal efforts of those who risked everything to help the many Jews who decided to (or were forced to) stay in Berlin. It is uplifting to hear of the selfless bravery of the characters...engrossing and very well narrated.

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Felt like the story was by a reporter
Revisado: 02-19-17
It's hard for me to get into a story when most of it and especially the climax of it is told in third person.

Historia
At last recovered from a near-fatal gunshot wound, Lieutenant Abe Glitsky is back at work.
