Historia
Guy Kawasaki has been a fixture in the tech world since he was part of Apple's original Macintosh team in the 1980s. He's widely respected as a source of wisdom about entrepreneurship, venture capital, marketing, and business evangelism, which he's shared in best-selling books such as The Art of the Start and Enchantment. But before all that, he was just a middle-class kid in Hawaii, a grandson of Japanese immigrants, who loved football and got a C+ in ninth-grade English. Wise Guy, his most personal book, is about his surprising journey.

Power is changing. Private corner offices and management by decree are out, as is unquestioned trust in the government and media. These former pillars of traditional power have been replaced by networks of informed citizens who collectively wield more power over their personal lives, employers, and worlds than ever before. So how do you navigate this new landscape and come out on top? Adam Grant, Wharton organizational psychologist, went to the World Economic Forum in Davos, the epicenter of power, and sat down with thought leaders from around the world, to find out.

The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One, and the White House residence.

Leadership requires a moral code. one other than one's own preservation. We're missing that. and combined with Trump's outdated, fear-tinged views...we'll be lucky if he doesn't screw us all. I got no comfort from this book. Only Fear.

Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

I'm better for reading this book
Revisado: 08-10-18
I'll let the many reviews of this wonderful book tackle how well it's written...how skillfully it's delivered in audio form.
Instead, I'll focus on what it did for me. I entered this world of "Other Suns" with a distinct view of myself, in relation to my Southern Family Roots, as a detached being with not so much in common. and it left me wanting and disconnected.
I leave this book in tears. I imagine those tears are the same as a lost person who's just been found. I recognize myself in the lives of my parents (who stayed) and the time-folding effect of realizing that my motivation for leaving the south at 16 in 1983 was no different than those who left decades before.
I've come to see myself as a branch of a very old, powerful and noble tree. My children are the next stages of growth on that same tree. I am rooted in a new, old way. and it feels good. I've had a reunion between my heart, mind and soul. I am better for this.

Historia
Explore the power of the underdog in Malcolm Gladwell's dazzling examination of success, motivation, and the role of adversity in shaping our lives, from the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia. Three thousand years ago on a battlefield in ancient Palestine, a shepherd boy felled a mighty warrior with nothing more than a stone and a sling, and ever since then the names of David and Goliath have stood for battles between underdogs and giants. David's victory was improbable and miraculous. He shouldn't have won. Or should he have?

Everything we now know about the universe - from the behavior of quarks to the birth of galaxies - has come from people who've been willing to ponder the unanswerable. And with the advent of modern science, great minds have turned to testing and experimentation rather than mere thought as a way of grappling with some of the universe's most vexing dilemmas. So what is our latest picture of some of the most inexplicable features of the universe? What still remains to be uncovered and explored by today's scientists?

Great conversations, great people
Revisado: 11-10-17
Listening to an assortment of smart, focused, curious people, from all walks of life, talk about how they think is amazing. It humanizes the genius in ways that, for me, makes it clear that we all have much to give. I'm not sure of the mission or if this series accomplished what was intended. I am sure that it has paid me back tenfold in sparking optimism and positive thinking.
