Flat, annoying characters, totally lame plot. Character motivations are confusing or missing.

Questionned about a murder by a suspicious cop who assumes guilt, but you didn't demand a lawyer? Really?

And the narration made it worse: Emphasis on enunciation but little emotion or separation between characters (except for the very annoying ditzy, whiny best friend).

Not my normal read, but an excellent story!

I tend to read more action adventure and fantasy so I wasn't sure I would like this. But this was wonderful! I would hardly recommend it to book lovers everywhere.

The Best Performance!

I've loved this story since I first read it in the 1970s. I have tried several audio versions but could never listen for long. This one is amazing! If you enjoy Tolkein, you owe it to yourself to listen to these.

Great potential but quickly tired of her

At first, the heroine just seemed like an airhead - always so very excited about new adventures but rarely seemed to think deeply about anything.

The character continued to annoy me by never thinking to herself, "Gosh, I'm in a different universe now. Maybe people have a different culture here. Maybe I should have different expectations of their behavior."

I finally gave up on the story when she got angry at her husband for bedding a serving girl in the past (no cause for upset no matter where she's from), then talked about having dinner with her parents as if they were the same people who were her parents back on Earth.

All in all, a big disappointment.

Female narrator is a great addition!

Cherise Sinclair's stories and characters are strong and well developed. Having a female narrator is a great addition to an always fabulous performance.

Moves way too slowly

If you are looking for a gentle and romantic love story, here it is. But if you want to characters to have some oomph behind them, this one is not for you. I made it through ten chapters before I finally gave up. I'm being saccharined to death. Can't take any more. That said, the performances were good. There's just no "there" there.

I made it though half the book before I shut it off in disgust. Really? An "Alpha Dom" who punishes while enraged? A sadist who is an accepted member of the dungeon yet he is pathological and abusive? A "submissive" whose only response is to be mouthy and rebellious, even while on the spanking bench of said sadist? A Dom who must publicly "claim" a sub who's only under his training collar via public anal sex (and the character implies that is the only accepted way to claim a submissive)?

I cringe to think that readers will believe this is what the Lifestyle is really like.

Favorite author, great book
