Historia
Rather than providing a clear sense of purpose for our lives, popular Christian ideas about the future steal it from us by saying our work in the world, apart from ministry, has no eternal value. Is it any wonder why young adults are less interested in church, or why a culture desperate for meaning and hope dismisses our message? In Futureville, Skye Jethani offers us a vision-shifting glimpse of the world of tomorrow described in Scripture. He reveals how a biblical vision of the future can transform every person’s work with a sense of purpose and dignity today.

An Alternative View (A Better Tomorrow)
Revisado: 02-28-25
I really enjoyed the author’s tone and his analysis of the myths of modern life and the disillusionment that many of my generation experienced. By exposing the half-truths and sometimes outright lies of modernity, he helps us break free from resentful memories and focus forward with faith and hope. There’s a better world, a better land, and a greater Kingdom than the one we were sold on ( “________ Dream”). This book not only helps us shift our focus forward but also fills us with hope for a better tomorrow.

Can a simple concept shift your entire world? Bob certainly thinks so. When it comes to loving your neighbors, instead of focusing on having the “right answers” or checking the “right boxes”, what if you decide to simply do love? To shamelessly show love and grace to those around you—what would that look like? Not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings, Bob's love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

Love is a verb
Revisado: 08-31-15
I absolutely love this book. I had the opportunity to hear Bob speak at an event I attended a year ago. I never heard of him before but I was so impressed with him live that I decided to pick up his book. It was one of my best decisions I've ever made
The Book is a collection of stories of a life well lived and makes for an excellent read. The stories in this book will encourage you in, inspire you and give you the hope that your life can make a major difference in the world... If you have hope, a heart for serving others and do everything that love requires.
This book is narrated by the author. That totally makes it worth the listen. The performance does not feel like someone is reading a script but more like Bob is sitting down with us for coffee and sharing the stories. The total run time is about six hours and not one minute will be wasted. You should check this out today.

God Is Disappointed in You is for people who would like to read the Bible...if it would just cut to the chase. Stripped of its arcane language and interminable passages, every book of the Bible is condensed down to its core message, in no more than a few pages each. Written by Mark Russell with cartoons by New Yorker cartoonist Shannon Wheeler, God Is Disappointed in You is a frequently hilarious, often shocking, but always accurate retelling of the Bible, including the parts selectively left out by Sunday School teachers.

Not disappointed in this book!
Revisado: 05-28-15
While I found this book to be highly irreverent I also found it to be highly funny! It is well written and equally well narrated. It covers books from both the old and New Testament and quite ably if I'm allowed to say so.
I have a few quibbles with some of the stories and a bit of the language used to describe the overall themes of the books. As a minister I found a few inconsistencies with the biblical record in the storytelling but it is mostly accurate with only a few mistakes here and there. Since this is written as a satirical view of the Scriptures is not necessary for her to have an esoteric accuracy.
I recommend this book to those Who are interested in the Bible and are able to laugh at themselves and the foibles of ancient believers as well as modern Christians.
