Excellent narration

PG Woodhouse is generally a well known quantity. He's often very amusing, and occasionally a little off-putting, as a creature of his time. But I find him mostly the former.

This review is mainly to praise BJ Harrison, the reader. He is highly skilled and a very pleasant voice to listen to. He distinguishes the characters clearly. His reading is well paced. I find him an excellent performer. I highly recommend his work.

Excellent updating of the movie Witness

Impressive full cast remake of Witness in an audio format. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I used headphones to enjoy the surround sound design.

In depth story of sheep to yarn

This is an in depth but listenable story of how wool moves from a living animal to yarn. It has a strong historical component, moving through the phases of industrial handling of wool. I give it four stars instead of five because it's such a specialized field. If you're a knitter or have a specific interest in the history of fiber milling in this country, I would expect you to consider it a five star work. I recognize and appreciate the talent that brought this to life, but my interest is more academic than personal - I'm not a knitter. But I did find it worth my time.

Fatherhood for today

I'm actually a patron of this show because patreon benefits rule and I love the extra stories and bonus content. I'm not a father, not a parent of any kind. But I love this show because it helps me put my own father into better perspective and learn about the new parental values of today. This show is extremely funny, touching, and relatable. Highly recommended.

Garbage not worthy of anyone's attention

This is an incoherent pile of garbage. The writing varies between poor and absolutely incoherent. Good meditations are soothing and allow one to follow along without any effort. These meditations keep jumping around and requiring mental effort to keep placing oneself in the right moment or frame of mind. The instructional sections are endless repeating bundles of assertions with no logical backup or proof. That's when they aren't absolutely incoherent. I'm not exaggerating when I say that. There are parts of this book that are strings of words with no sentence structure that makes sense in English. The best I can say about some of this is that it sounds like it was translated by Google through at least three non-romance languages and the result simply copied and pasted into the manuscript. In addition, there is one chapter that is literally duplicated, and at least two that are nothing but music.

The narrator is terrible. Her voice quality is fine, nothing special. But she is a lousy reader. She regularly inserts pauses in the middle of phrases that interrupt the flow and change the meaning of sentences. She mispronounces words regularly. Truly, the worst reader I've ever listened to.

TL:DR This is garbage not worthy of anyone's time, attention, or money.

Weird and unbalanced

Starts fine, moderately interesting, then becomes over the top. I wouldn't mind over the top if a foundation had been set, but this came out of the blue. Technically well produced and acted.

Beautiful performance

Persuasion is my favorite JA novel. No criticism of it is possible from me. This is a review of the performance of Juliette Stevenson. She is a brilliant actor with a wonderful voice. I absolutely loved this performance.

A good solid production

Mansfield Park has always been my least favorite Jane Austin novel. Which is to say, I only read it every two or three years. This production is a good solid one, perfectly satisfactory. I know that sounds like tepid praise at best, but what I mean is that there's not the brilliance of some stellar readers, but it's a very good and very listenable production. If you want to listen to this book, don't hesitate to get this version.

A love story

This is the story of two brothers, one of whom gets a horrible terminal illness. He leaves a bucket list for his brother to complete on his behalf. It's sometimes quite sad, but also beautiful and sometimes funny. I found it well worth my time.

Very entertaining adaptation

These are pretty faithful adaptations of all six of JA's published novels. There is a little more dialog, but it generally uses her own words in a different form and doesn't take many liberties. The performances are mostly excellent, and occasionally simply good. They aren't precisely the books, but are the stories. As such, I recommend them as an entertaining supplement to reading the actual books.
