Wonderful story
Revisado: 01-12-23
What a wonderful story. I wondered, yet doubted it could have been true all the way through this intriguing tale. Listening to the epilogue made the story even better. We’ll written, we’ll read.

Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Well done!
Revisado: 09-11-21
I read this book years ago. So much was familiar, but this was so much better. The writing is pure bliss. That hasn’t changed. The narration is beyond wonderful. So many male narrators do a wretched job on female characters. Not here my friend. He does a great job. The cadence of his reading could not be better. Enjoyed every word.

Historia
People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

Brought to life!!!
Revisado: 08-27-21
I want a sequel! I’ve read these stories but you brought each one to life. You ignited in me a fire to reread them. And I have been doing so as I listened. I bought this book for my daughter in law. Please please write a sequel. I grew in listening. I want to grow more. What a blessing this book has been to me!!! Thank you.

Disappointed
Revisado: 06-11-20
I read quite a few reviews prior to purchasing it. I just can’t agree. I fount the author over described everything to the point where I started skipping chapters just to get through. It dragged and was depressing almost in it’s entirety.

I agree with the earlier I got tremendously tired of that of that pronunciation. But other than that the narrator was great. I liked the story, but I agree with the previous review too many he said, she said. And it dragged some.

Awful narration
Revisado: 10-16-19
I trudged through this book but it was hard. That narrator was stiff, jerky and seemed like he was trying to imitate how someone from how Netherlands would speak (but not well done). The author was opinionated and a little preachy. I was quite disappointed in this book overall.

I enjoyed the drama, kept my attention throughout. All the Russian history was way outside what you generally get with books based in WWII. Good character development that made me care about the different characters with empathy & understanding.
