Great story and well told in an easy and comfortable cadence. Enjoyed the various contributors and perspectives presented. I would recommend this to anyone interested in both the history and entertainment aspects of a good spy story.

Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

very nice listen

The author does a nice job of transferring the reader back in time and introducing the main character. An elegant prose in story telling and highlighting an important history of our country. I recommended this book to my mother who was near the same age of the main character at that time. Great read and highly recommended.

Excellent Read
Revisado: 06-18-22
I loved the story narrative of not finding the path in life attractive where you slog away in a boring and dreadful job for moments of joy only found on some packaged vacation. The best part and always so true is travel around the world is not just for rich people but frugal people with courage and a sense of adventure combined with a savvy interest in many things equals an interesting life worth reading about. Well done!

Historia
Chinatown is the Holy Grail of 1970s cinema. Its twist ending is the most notorious in American film and its closing line of dialogue the most haunting. Here for the first time is the incredible true story of its making. In Sam Wasson's telling, it becomes the defining story of the most colorful characters in the most colorful period of Hollywood history. Here is Jack Nicholson at the height of his powers, as compelling a movie star as there has ever been, embarking on his great, doomed love affair with Anjelica Huston.

This was a very enjoyable listen and really captured an era. I will buy this hardcover as a gift for a family member. The writing is easy to listen to and very much can be appreciated. I watched the movie half way through the book for context and was not dissatisfied in doing so as I could appreciate the author and his story telling more so.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Changed me....awesome listen. Everyone must read. This puts the current pandemic in perspective and teaches us both how far we have come and how much farther we have to go.
