Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
Nine months ago Sara Adams awoke with no memory. The man holding her hand told her she's a member of The Light, a tight-knit religious group led by the terrifying and charismatic Father Gabriel. As a woman in the community of The Light, her duty is to be unquestionably obedient and to submit to the will of her husband. But as Sara's memory starts to return and she remembers her past, she sees that everything she's been told is a lie. The Light is an insidious and dangerous organization.

Dylan has a cold?
Revisado: 03-24-17
The nasal delivery of Dylan just ruined it for me. Jacob's narrator had the same voice for all of his characters. Tolerable but barely so.

Historia
In President Me, Carolla shares his vision for a different, better America free from big issues like big government down to small problems like hotel alarm clock placement. Running on an anti-narcissism platform, President Carolla calls for a return to the values of an earlier time when stew and casserole were on every dinner table and there were no “service dogs” on airplanes. President Me hits right at the heart of what makes our country really annoying, and offers a plan to make all of our lives, but mostly Adam’s, much better.

Same Old Stuff
Revisado: 05-19-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
If you have read his other books, this one just doesn't live up to my expectations. I loved Adam's anecdotal stories far more than his rambling "political" ambitions. I just didn't find this book as funny as his other two.
Have you listened to any of Adam Carolla’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The performance is great. He definitely knows how to deliver a joke.
Do you think President Me needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No.

I loved this story!
Revisado: 05-08-14
What made the experience of listening to Ready Player One the most enjoyable?
Wil Wheaton does an excellent job narrating. The story brought back so many memories from my childhood. It was something that I looked forward to listening to every day.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ready Player One?
There were a few. The murderous plots of the sixers. The final battle. The moment they all met in person.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the big mega robot battle scene.

Historia
He's the seventh son of a seventh son. He's the only one who can stop the greatest evil. Tom Ward, the Spook's last apprentice, has everything he needs to vanquish the Fiend, once and for all: the three blades recovered from the dark, the gifts from his witch mother, and the skills he's learned from Master Gregory. And Alice, the one he loves most, is willing to sacrifice herself to fulfill the spell. Or is she? Racing against time, all of Tom's old allies - and old enemies - return. They will clash in a final battle more epic than any he has fought before.

Loose ends not tied up, not enough detail.
Revisado: 05-08-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Fury of the Seventh Son to be better than the print version?
I always enjoy the audio versions of these books more than the print version.
If you’ve listened to books by Joseph Delaney and Patrick Arrasmith before, how does this one compare?
With the exception of the Alice and Grimalkin books, this one is right up there with Christopher Evan Welch's performances. I was a bit concerned after listening to the boring droll of the last 2 books. Alexander Cendese does a great job and pays tribute to (but doesn't copy) Welsh's characterizations.
Any additional comments?
I felt overall the story was entertaining, but there were so many loose ends that were not tied up. I was also led to believe that this would be the final book in the series. I suppose that might technically be correct, but there will definitely be more of Tom Ward, Grimalkin and the Kabalos in the future. I was expecting a tidy end to this charming series, but was just left with questions and a sense of "that's it?"

I must be brave. I must do what has to be done. I am Alice. Alice is the most powerful witch the county has ever seen. She may one day be the most evil. But Alice is also the best friend - and true love - of Tom Ward. Together they work to defeat the Fiend - the world's greatest evil - once and for all. They have nearly everything they need, all except a blade hidden in the Dark, the Fiend's domain. So Alice ventures there to find it. She faces the most terrifying creatures in existence. And she once again battles old enemies who bear grudges: Bony Lizzie, Bloodeye, and more.

The dark is full of terrifying creatures. And Tom Ward - the seventh son of a seventh son, and the Spook's last apprentice - hasn't seen all of them. Far from the county, one named Slither has lived for hundreds of years, hunting blood. But a dying father binds the monster to a bargain. If Slither will take his two youngest daughters safely to their family in the south, then the eldest daughter, Nessa, is his.

What they said
Revisado: 11-05-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story itself was almost outside the Last Apprentice universe. I have a feeling that Slither and Nessa will tie in to the later books, but while listening I couldn't help but think "How does this relate to Tom Ward?" You could almost read this book as a stand alone in the series. The latter half of the book, after Grimalkin enters to story, is faster paced and more exciting than the first half.
If you’ve listened to books by Joseph Delaney before, how does this one compare?
I agree with everyone else. Welch's characters are better and I am used to hearing him characterize their voices. Alternating between Welsh and Goethals disconnected me from the story. I didn't enjoy this story as much as the others.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christopher Evan Welch and Angela Goethals ?
Him, yes. Her, no.
Any additional comments?
Pro Tip: Set Angela to 1.25 or 1.5 speed in your Audible app. It speeds her up to normal.

I have a hard time getting into this series
Revisado: 01-02-13
What did you like best about The Arctic Incident? What did you like least?
When I reviewed the first Artemis Fowl, the audio quality was bad. Maybe I downloaded a low quality mp3 on accident. This book was so much better.
That being said, I just can't seem to get into the series. I wasn't a huge fan of the first, but the story went along reasonably well and was generally entertaining. After listening to this book, I realized what it was that I didn't like. To me, it was unbelievable. What I mean to say is that Artemis Fowl is a child. Even with him being a super genius, the way that he gets out of situations seems completely unreal. I have a hard time believing the story.
I have read other fantasy books, i.e. Harry Potter, The Last Apprentice, etc. and while set in a fantasy setting, they were very believable. I think it might have to do with the way that Artemis gets out of trouble. There seems to be no lead in or any indication of how he will escape situations and then you are presented with a completely out of left park solution. It seems like it was just made up on the spot in the same way kids make up rules to playground games.
This is only my opinion. Others seem to really enjoy the series. The performance was great. The characters were well defined and distinctive. I just can't get over the story.

Tom has heard it will be a bleak, forbidding place, and that menacing creatures are starting to stir somewhere on the moors nearby.

Entertaining read for the family
Revisado: 11-05-12
Where does Artemis Fowl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was the first audiobook I listened to, so I didn't have a baseline. But I have since listened to Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delany. Artemis Fowl is entertaining, but in my opinion, it seems to be a little unbelievable. I know this is fiction, but as a 12 year old, he has a masterful sense of strategy and foresight that no 12 year old would ever have. Not even a boy genius.
What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?
He did a great job on creating unique voices for the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Not really.
Any additional comments?
The quality of the audio was "tinny" and "noisy". If it would have been clear, I would have rated this title better.
