Historia
1860: As the clash between the states rolls slowly to a boil, Elizabeth Packard, housewife and mother of six, is facing her own battle. The enemy sits across the table and sleeps in the next room. Her husband of 21 years is plotting against her because he feels increasingly threatened - by Elizabeth’s intellect, independence, and unwillingness to stifle her own thoughts. So Theophilus makes a plan to put his wife back in her place. One summer morning, he has her committed to an insane asylum.

Inspiring!

What an inspiring account of one woman’s fight for justice and equality! And how unfortunate that there is still work to be done.

Historia
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill 12 students and a teacher and wound 24 others before taking their own lives. For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong?

Wow. Just wow.

This book really made me stop and think about automatically jumping to conclusions and judgment when we hear of horrific things that most of us can’t fathom.
What heart, strength, and bravery this woman has to explore her own experience, diligently search for answers from professionals, and work toward real changes and intervention.
Finally, the title was perfect. While I can only imagine how difficult her journey to reckoning must have been, I mourned with her as a mother as I listened.
