So many cringy truth bombs. I absolutely loved this book! I laughed, cried, & said WTF!? This family is crazy! I really hope she considers follow-up books. I’m sure there has to be so much more. Definitely feels like she’s holding back - A LOT! She’s still very protective of her mother (among others), but maybe that will come with time.
The only negative is that Jennette talks so fast. I literally thought my audiobook speed was on a higher setting and checked it a couple times.
I love her sarcastic sense of humor. Definitely can see it’s how she gets through tough situations though.
Wish you all the best Jennette!

A must for any HW fan. I absolutely adore “The Marge” & this book solidified why. She’s such a hard worker, compassionate & forgiving, a great friend, and above all, loving wife & mother. I listened to the audiobook version & enjoyed hearing Margaret’s own voice. However, the one critique I have is there is some repetition with words, phrases, & stories, and the book doesn’t stick with the timeline - it’s a little all over the place. But I appreciate the honesty, especially with her childhood & work experiences. I also really enjoyed hearing about her business. I had no idea it was such a successful company & Marge really started an entire industry of goods.

Such a tragic story. There were a few things I found hard to deal with. First, with the author also narrating, it was hard to get past her awkward pauses and terribly dramatic acting. Also, she tries way too hard to come off as the Madoff family victim. As the daughter-in-law, the sister-in-law, the ex-wife, the step-mother. It’s just ”poor me” throughout the entire book. She also seems to have a very hard time with jealousy. Finally, and this was the hardest for me to listen to and not physically roll my eyes, she mentions little digs that just don’t need to be said. Especially towards or about her step kids (there’s one at the end that’s particularly brutal when the son asks for and takes all the fishing reels and she wanted to keep some for her own son, which I understand, but she should’ve said something to him at that time, not in a book!).

Co-Dependent mother/daughter relationship

I was really enjoying this book when it started out, however as it went on, it’s clear that “Reni” is just as dependent on this inappropriate mother/daughter relationship as her mother is. She makes excuses for her mother’s bad behavior and allows her mother to control and influence every aspect of her life. Towards the end it was difficult to even finish the book as adult Reni continues to excuse her mother’s behaviors.
