Would you try another book from Reza Aslan and/or Reza Aslan?

Aslan states in his preface that the new testament is not a historical account, yet he uses it almost exclusively as a historical source. There is nothing here to prove or disprove anything historical about Jesus of Nazareth.

Not too bad

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

for anyone who likes King, this is an entertaining story. It kept my interest, but there were too many predictable events. it's far from his best, but not his worst.

I had to laugh at some of the voices that Esparza used. The female voices were terrible. And the story's villain, supposedly a lifetime resident of a small Maine town, had a southern accent. LOL.

Steve does a better job narrating his books than Raul did on this one.

I haven't finished listening yet, but I just had to comment on the poor narration in this book. I grew up in Bayonne, NJ, so I'm enjoying hearing about familiar places (despite the mispronunciations) and the story is generally good.

However, the narration by Joe P really takes away from the enjoyment of this audiobook. The Jersey accents are not even close, and the Italian accents are extremely exaggerated and cartoon-like. (Mel Blanc would have done a much better job.) The main character's mother sounds EXACTLY like Joe Pesci. I have to keep rewinding the book because it's extremely hard to understand the "Italian" accents.

Still worth listening to, except that it will take a lot longer than expected, because if you want to understand everything, you'll need to listen to some parts twice (or more).

I would have given this book five stars for the story, but the narration detracts, rather than enhances, my enjoyment.

What a waste of time

This book goes on and on and on. Cronin must have gotten paid by the word, because there's plenty of repetition, lists of names, and rambling. I couldn't even finish it. I got to within the last two hours and gave up. Don't waste your time like I did.

Too much O'Nan, not enough King

I'm a rabid Red Sox Fan, and also a rabid King fan, so I couldn't wait to get into this book. King is, as usual, excellent. I only wish he had done this book alone. O'Nan suffers from a malady common to many baseball fans - they think they know more about the game than anybody else, and have no problem telling you how stupid a manager or player is. He also has an annoying habit of telling you what players were thinking, as if he could read their minds. And his description of his antics at the ballpark (ie, taking a net to batting practice, and heckling opposing players) would be appropriate for a 15 year old kid, not a grown man. I finally ended up just fast forwarding through O'Nan's sections.
