A book that approaches slimming from a different perspective, namely that of the mind. It is a fact that mind/brain and body work and act in harmony, in a continuous interchange of information. So why not 'program' your brain into slimming mode? This guide explains exactly how to do it. With great simplicity and clarity, the right strategies are provided to set our brains into the right mindset that will enable us women to lose weight in a gradual and stress-free way. Hypnosis, meditation, yoga for example, are excellent vectors for reducing what is termed nervous or emotional hunger. Reading this book has helped me a lot to perceive my body with different eyes, perhaps even with a little more elasticity. I was a bit skeptical about the subject of hypnosis for weight loss but I want to try it anyway. I find the subject matter very seriously and professionally treated and I think it is an excellent guide to changing our relationship with food.

An Honest and Empathetic View of BPD

I really appreciated the following points especially:
"One way to look at it from the sufferer's point of view is by thinking of it as having nerve endings that are constantly exposed and vulnerable."
"Misunderstanding the difference between mood disorders and personality disorders" (I was guilty of this)
"Life for them is emotionally painful, like living with untreated burns."

This is an incredibly helpful guide if you have a loved one with BPD or just want to learn more about the topic. Not only did I not know much going in, but I realized afterward what I did "know" was incorrect. I have people in my family with mental health issues. This is a really impressive and comprehensive guide that gives you straightforward advice on how to help loved ones—and really importantly, something that a lot of people forget: how to help ourselves through it. It's so easy to get absolutely lost and overwhelmed when you're trying to help someone you love, and it's so helpful to have advice about the best ways to help from someone who has the experience of borderline personality disorder. I wish I had heard this book long ago.

There are times where some times we know what's best for us, but don't know how to begin making those positive choices for ourselves. Enter this book. Listening to this audio book was listening to a friend giving me good advice and a pep talk. There are parts where certain topics aren't sugarcoated-- but the reality is that it's exhausting to be a person in this world, and even more so to be a woman of color in this society. Black women empowerment is so necessary for us to progress and also to take care of ourselves. I like to think this book helps with that, I know I came away feeling inspired. I recommend it to any interested to black women self-care.

I had been wanting to practice meditation for awhile, but have had trouble getting started and staying focused on my own. I thought guided meditation would be a helpful tool and this audiobook really helped to keep me grounded when I practiced. I also really liked how it's specifically geared toward ending anxiety and general panic you may feel in everyday or specific situations. Even the opening of this book put me at ease, reminding me that we attach meaning or project our fears onto otherwise neutral happenings. I have to say the narrator's performance was great as well, during various chapters I felt like I was in a calm state of hypnosis. Would highly recommend if you're trying to get into meditation.

I picked up this title to help me as a professional who works in Special Education, but after listening to it, I realize this book could help everyone, not just those who know people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I liked how accessible, straightforward, and simple this book and its language was. It clearly explained what ADHD is and how it uniquely affects women. Despite the challenges this population faces, there are many ways to manage symptoms for them to lead a fulfilling lives, and this audiobook outlined important aspects on how to do just that, from interpersonal relationships to financial literacy. Some of the information contained in this title was so useful, I think I even learned a thing or two for myself! Either way, I think anyone could benefit from hearing this book, either for self-help, to better understand how to support women with ADHD, or just for those curious.
