Historia
Fifteen years ago, a murder/suicide in room 712 rocked the grand old Bellweather Hotel and the young bridesmaid who witnessed it. Now hundreds of high school musicians, including quiet bassoonist Rabbit Hatmaker and his brassy diva twin, Alice, have gathered in its cavernous, crumbling halls for the annual Statewide festival; the grown-up bridesmaid has returned to face her demons; and a snowstorm is forecast that will trap everyone on the grounds. Then one of the orchestra’s stars disappears—from room 712.

What A Ride!
Revisado: 06-23-22
This book reminded me why I love the mystery genre! The characters and setting are so vivid, and the story pulled me in right from the start. I binged the whole thing in a few days. Highly recommend and will definitely be checking out more from this author!

Historia
Iris and Will have been married for seven years, and their marriage is as close to perfect as it can be. But on the morning Will leaves for a business trip to Florida, Iris' happy world comes to an abrupt halt. Another plane headed for Seattle has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board, and, according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers. Grief stricken and confused, Iris is convinced it all must be a huge misunderstanding. Why did Will lie about where he was going? What is in Seattle? And what else had he lied about?

Tired Stereotypes and Insufferable Main Character
Revisado: 09-28-21
My first big gripe about this book is that it overtly perpetuates racial stereotypes and at times is downright racist. Unfortunately, I can't say much more without spoiling major plot points, but there are plenty of reviews on Goodreads that detail what I'm talking about. Clearly the author has never had any kind of sensitivity training.
Also, the main character is absolutely the worst. She is obtuse, and doesn't seem to have much motivation for doing the things that she does except that she "loves her husband". For goodness' sake, she's supposed to be a trained psychologist but the only hints we get that she ever went to grad school is her telling us that she did. She rarely uses her psychology training in any meaningful way, and she could have easily just been a housewife without changing the story at all.
Finally, the story is jarring and lacks details. It feels like Kimberly Belle wrote this in about a month and didn't bother to make any of the characters seem like real people. And for pete's sake, please stop with the racist overtones!
