Historia
After experiencing a terrible loss, New York City psychiatrist Meredith McCall feels painfully adrift. When she crosses paths with a man with whom she has a tragic connection, she follows him, sparking an unhealthy obsession with Gabriel Wright. How is he doing so well while her life is in shambles? But when Gabriel walks into her office as a patient, seemingly unaware of who she is, she knows it crosses all ethical and moral bounds to treat him. Yet, Meredith can’t bring herself to turn him away and becomes further entangled.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing and hooked. I almost didn’t get it due to the lower reviews but am glad I did.

Historia
Meet Laszlo, eight-hundred-year-old demon and Hell’s least productive Curse Keeper. From his office beneath Midtown, he oversees the Drakeford Curse, which involves a pathetic family upstate and a mysterious black monolith. It’s a sexy enough assignment—colonial origins, mutating victims, et cetera—but Laszlo has no interest in maximizing the curse’s potential; he’d rather sunbathe in Ibiza, quaff martinis, and hustle the hustlers on Manhattan’s subway.

Always on the periphery, looking on, young Frankie Howe was never quite sure enough of herself to take center stage—after all, life had already judged her harshly. A memory is sparked, and the past crackles into life as Damian listens to the story Frankie has kept stored away all these years.

I can’t even finish this book.
Revisado: 09-13-23
This book is so bad. I don’t understand all the positive reviews. I read the reviews and purchased this book and the next 3 during a big sale event based on the reviews. 10 minutes into this first book I was sorry but decided to stick it out thinking it would get better. I have 12 hours left to go on the first one and I can’t finish which is very rare for me. This book has the cheesiest lines and dialogue and is so ridiculous. I just can’t get through it. I’ll be out a bit of cash since I paid for these on a sale and you are no longer able to return titles unless you’ve used credit. I honestly just can’t find out what happens later since I just don’t care to continue. I just don’t understand all the rave reviews for sure.

Snooze Worthy and Religious
Revisado: 07-17-23
I wasn’t expecting so much God and religious stuff in this book. If I had known I would have not purchased this. I don’t listen to books for a church lesson and feel that should be disclosed in title details. The story itself was odd and tiring. I have a few hours to go and not sure I’ll make it.

Shallow, selfish 40 something
Revisado: 06-07-23
I only got this book as a daily deal. If you are a shallow, self obsessed 40-something year old woman who smokes and drinks too much and can’t imagine your life without a man in your bed and believes in astrology and wants to hear the word “soulmate” a million times this book is probably perfect for you.

Historia
Cyril Avery is not a real Avery - or at least that's what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn't a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead.

I hated every minute: spoilers
Revisado: 10-25-22
Spoilers!!
I didn’t get one single part of this book. I don’t understand the good reviews at all. It was a book club reading and I hated every minute. I only finished it because of book club. One reviewer said it “sucked the life out of them” and I agree. I’ve never played video games and can’t imagine wasting my life that way - all of these characters were awful. I couldn’t stand any of them. The fights between the main two characters were like kindergarten children and then I felt super dumb with all the giant words thrown around. I just didn’t get it. On top of the main story line, you have an inappropriate teacher student relationship that was demeaning and borderline abusive which can be a trigger to some listening.
