Historia
A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good - but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected. First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a low-profile existence - until she’s recruited to advocate for a cause that’s dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven’s assistance, sparks fly - especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.

Consistently good stories
Revisado: 05-03-25
This author is prolific with wholesome family and romance stories. Steven the sniper veteran and Holly the pacifist grade school teacher with spina bifida. Opposite points of view came together. Plus Steven’s brother facing his addiction and neighbor Pete facing his suicide contemplation. All’s well that ends well.

Historia
Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: To write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the 20th Century.

Compete to author a bio & fall in love
Revisado: 05-01-25
I enjoyed the set up for Alice and Hayden competing for the same book writing job, it gave the love story of natural reason to go very slow. I often feel in romance novels can very forced, with all kinds of miscommunication. This one felt mostly natural. I thought Margaret’s story going back to the 1800’s was a bit overly complicated and that storyline kinda lost my attention. But generally I like Emily Henry’s stories and I’m glad I read it.

Really enjoyed this
Revisado: 04-29-25
I’m surprised not as many people have read this one. It was the perfect balance of characters and circumstances. Just simple mentions of God, not over the top. Really enjoyed the main couple and how he forgave earlier hurts. Loved how she helped out with being a nanny as he was a single dad and his daughter Hannah had so much to adjust too. Also enjoyed the secondary couple where the wife got over past hurts and they got to have an artistic adopted son after having lost their genetic artistic son.

But when her ex-husband suddenly dies, she gets custody of her kids again - and a chance to start over. Dixie McPherson, on the other hand, has had way too much love. She has 11 tennis bracelets, dozens of trinkets, piles of sexy lingerie, and a tarnished reputation when all she ever wanted was true love, a partner, and a family. Carlisle Bartlett is loyal, kindhearted, and the funniest guy slinging drinks in the back of an airplane. But he has an ugly little secret. The only kind of love he's used to comes with bruises.

Enjoyed but not my fav
Revisado: 04-27-25
This was my first Robyn Carr book that was not part of a series. It took me more time to get to know all the players since I didn’t know them from a previous book. For whatever reason that caused me be somewhat less engaged in the first part of the story about the female airline exec & her family.

Another cute story
Revisado: 04-23-25
Another cute story by this author. The narrator is also excellent great at differentiating the voice of different characters so you know who’s speaking at any point. This was the story of Ginger and Matt Lacumet. They met at a wedding for Ginger‘s friend and Matt‘s sister. They both had some trauma, both having lost a baby in different ways. I really like that these are just positive family stories, however, I could really do without the graphic sex scenes, they are really not necessary.

Painful story and narration
Revisado: 04-21-25
This book was literally painful both story and narration. These two have been best friends and passionately attracted to each other since being teenagers and she is afraid to touch him because it’s gonna ruin the friendship. I’m sorry, but if I feel passionate and like someone is my best friend And I’m a teenager I don’t get afraid of touching him. And then it goes on into adulthood? Then they have parties and invite others that might make the other one jealous? There’s just nothing redeeming about the relationships in this book. If they’re really best friends, then they know the status of these other people in their lives and they know each other’s friends. I’m just beyond irritated. Can’t believe I listened to the end because of the great reviews. The erudite literary porn, felt clinical and stupid, not hot. I will not read this author again. Suspense till the end, unfortunately not interesting suspense. I’m sure it was just friends making these fake ratings. Very unpleasant.

Enjoyed at the end but some parts far fetched
Revisado: 04-20-25
How does a woman who is dying from cancer treatments, surgery, chemo, suppositories, opiates for pain, etc travel for months throughout Europe and Asia? She was unstoppable, for a month in Asia biking through Vietnam, hiking the Great Wall, exploring museums, her husband couldn’t even keep up. Secondly, I hate stories about cancer. It glorifies the bane of American existence. Cancer tumors are encapsulated until you stick a needle in it and spread it. Our bodies are smart and they know to encapsulate toxins. Where is the study to show that people live longer without the treatment than with it? Because I can promise you, I know thousands who have done it, including myself, still here 8 years later. Next is the main characters obsession with controlling her brothers life. I stuck with it and came to that feeling that alls well that ends well but I really appreciate when the premise of a story is not so far fetched or psychologically off balance.
On the good side it didn’t have explicit sex scenes which I really appreciate, no f-bombs and ends with an upbeat resolution.

Mike Cavanaugh was a firefighter; it was his job to rescue people. Though inviting them home wasn't usually part of the job description. But when he pulled Christine Palmer out of her burning house, something about the gutsy single mom made him want to protect her, to make her life a little better.

Revisado: 04-20-25
I enjoy this author, pleasant stories, prolific writing. This was Chris & Mike, writer & firefighter. Chris and her kids lost everything and her house burned down and Mike rescued her. Mikes wife & daughter died 10 years ago and his heart was open for Chris and kids. The introduction of Chris’s aunt Flo and inheritance was the rocky road they had to cross.

Completely unlikable main character
Revisado: 04-17-25
I don’t at all see what Blake saw in Lin Sue, he was beyond patient and I don’t understand what she ever provided to deserve that patience and love. She was really infuriating, insufferable and vindictive to both Blake and her loving son Charlie. I get why Blake liked Charlie but not his mom, she was a horror.
Lin Sue tells her son Charlie that if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t stop communicating online with a long lost loving aunt that she will pack them up and move. The aunt doesn’t even live in that town. What does moving have to do with anything other than spite, making her child leave all of his great friends? I don’t have the first clue how this book got so many great reviews.
