Detective from which agency?!
Revisado: 02-26-24
This story's detective comes from an unexpected agency, it's set across more than one generation and in both a location and amid 2 cultures not often seen in such novels. The ending was not altogether unpredictable, but included a minor surprise or 2. Narration/performance was smooth and made the listen pleasant and engaging.

Historia
Charles L. Grant's town of Oxrun Station became real to horror fans (much like Lovecraft's Arkham and King's Castle Rock). While most of Grant's stories were contemporary, he did write a trilogy of "historical" novels placed in an earlier Oxrun. The Dark Cry of the Moon is a classic werewolf tale for fans of the old Universal and Hammer horror films. The emphasis is on character and atmosphere, not on gore. It is the second volume in Grant's acclaimed "historical horror" trilogy.

I completely enjoyed this unusual and intriguing storyline. The characters were well developed and the events were definitely not run of the mill. Expect the unexpected! The narrator is very listenable; expressive without blowing out my eardrums and a smooth delivery.

Can't recommend highly enough. Complex, highly disparate characters, intertwined story lines, plot twists and exceedingly well researched scientific material come together in a completely believable foretelling of one possible collective future.
Markley's scope and vision are remarkable.

Loving the Nick LaBonte series
Revisado: 10-12-22
I'm quite a fan of historical fiction and this second in the series certainly scratched my itch. With a linking thread, LaBarge deftly connects a modern mystery to both ancient civilizations and a legend just as old. Complete with cultural and geologic details and an exciting twist at the end.
Mr Hoke's vocal talents made the listen completely enjoyable.

An interesting murder mystery
Revisado: 08-01-22
Loved the premise upon which the story is based. Characters are well-developed and remain true throughout. The plot proceeds apace, includes some nice twists and leaves no outstanding threads hanging.
Narration was well done, particularly the idiosyncracies of the autistic character.
Overall, a worthy listen that I quite enjoyed.

The Haunted Victorian
Revisado: 07-27-22
A real life ghost story for those who believe, and for those who don't. I found the tale fascinating in the psychological sense, as well as the fact that numerous paranormal "experts" have investigated this house and these events.
Narration by Samuel Hoke was excellent. His tone is smooth and expressive, striking just the right chord. Would love to have him 'round a campfire, telling more ghost stories long into the night.

Classic cinema and monsters - a fun listen!
Revisado: 08-02-21
Fans of both classic cinema and its monster crew will love this one! The author's done a great job of blending the old with the modern, bringing the famous monsters of the age into the current timeframe. The narrator is easy to listen to, with good pacing and characterizations.
