Perfectly spooky and equally terrifying!
Revisado: 10-25-22
I'm rarely disappointed with Darcy Coates. I've bought everything she's ever written and liked them all save one. This one started a bit fast and the narrator was going for an emmy performance i think. Lauren Ezzo is clearly a talented actress and she was an excellent choice for this novel..... once i got over the beginning drama. I almost stopped listening because i thought the whole book was going to be breathless excitement, but it calmed down as the plot unraveled. I became much more invested in the characters about mid-way and had to listen much too late in the night to see what was around the corner. The ending was perfect without giving details and I'd like to see more of this story if Darcy decides to let it continue.

Historia
Leigh Harker’s quiet suburban home was her sanctuary for more than a decade, until things abruptly changed. Curtains open by themselves. Radios turn off and on. And a dark figure looms in the shadows of her bedroom door at night, watching her, waiting for her to finally let down her guard enough to fall asleep.

Masterful story telling
Revisado: 09-22-21
Fantastic narrator. Darcy Coates has an amazing way of getting the reader lost in the story with such great detail you feel you're there. That being said, this novel wasn't my favorite of hers but i'm glad I got to read (listen) it.

The Nightingale House is a new beginning for widower Daniel Price and his young daughter, Caitlyn. After months of grief, this will be the place where they start their life as a family of two. But something is wrong - Daniel can’t settle. There’s an odd, cold feeling in the master bedroom, and a mysterious dripping noise that seems to move from room to room. Whispers of I can’t sleep echo through the corridors, long into the night.

Just what i was looking for!
Revisado: 05-12-21
I'd never heard of this author before this novel and I'm glad I found him. He's very good about building suspense and keeping you on the edge of your seat. I loved the paranormal aspect to it - a fantastic "haunted house" listen. I'm a fan of Steve Frech now and already purchased his next audible/kindle book... and I mean BOUGHT it - i didn't use a credit. That's how happy I was with his writing. The narrator was just what the main character needed to bring him to life and you felt what the writer was intending you to (fear, excitement, anger, etc). I didn't hear a bit of background noise that another reviewer mentioned so that must've been fixed. There was just the sound of Harding's voice throughout.
A solid listen and worth every cent.

Historia
It's 1998, and for years the old First Bank of Cleveland has sat abandoned, perfectly preserved, its secrets only speculated on by the outside world. Twenty years before, amid strange staff disappearances and allegations of fraud, panicked investors sold Cleveland's largest bank in the middle of the night, locking out customers and employees and thwarting a looming federal investigation. In the confusion that followed, the keys to the vault's safe-deposit boxes were lost.

Wow!
Revisado: 02-27-20
This might be the best narration I've heard in all the books I've listened to. The story kept me listening (and it's long!) all the way thru 10 hours and then it started to get a bit slow & drawn out. Yet - I wouldn't change it as it was necessary to the ending. More than worth a credit.

Revisado: 05-13-19
This latest novel by Jennifer McMahon is my new favorite by her. The story kept me engrossed on what would happen next and I loved the performance by Amanda Carlin. Jennifer has a wonderful ability to story tell like you're right there in the middle of it.

I enjoyed this!
Revisado: 09-05-18
For some reason I went into this thinking it was non fiction, but realized half way through it was not. That was absolutely fine as it still made me think, appreciate life as it is right this minute and be grateful for the blessings I have. It was a bit cliche at times, but I actually liked that and it took me away for a while. The performance was amazing... in fact I’m looking up her other work.

Had me on the edge of my seat!
Revisado: 12-23-17
What made the experience of listening to Killman Creek the most enjoyable?
The narrators. You really got a connection to the different characters by the separate narrators. The reading and acting was flawless. A bit so much that the teenager started to annoy me lol!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Absolutely. Ms. Caine's writing style keeps you wondering what's around the corner.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Gwen - you could really feel her emotions by the narrator.

If you could sum up Stillhouse Lake in three words, what would they be?
suspenseful, riveting, chilling
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gina - she goes from shy naïve housewife to strong, determined woman
What about Emily Sutton-Smith’s performance did you like?
I've listened to Emily's voice in another book. At first I thought her a bit flat, but now I'm accustomed to her reading and actually prefer it. I'll look for another book she's narrated after this.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-04-17
I've long been a fan of Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons. I watched their show and admired their parenting style. This was like a nice conversation (one-way of course) with the same casual air as I would expect from Shannon. I could relate to a lot of her and felt she was super down to earth. I enjoyed listening to her talk most of all and hopes she does another (even if it's not about their lives).
