Banter is classic Scott Meyer. Each character has a personality that is complete. No two- dimensional characters here!

I love the way Meyer lets you peek behind the curtain without ruining the story

Just repeat any lesson until you can remember at least 80% of it before moving along. Really helped my pronunciation.

Great performance! Each character comes alive and is consistent. Much better as an audio performance than it was a a book.

This would be a good story if about thirty to forty percent of it were cut. If you want an excruciatingly detailed war tactics description then go for it. If you want a story then move along. Because this story doesn't.

I loved the first book even though it was a little wordy too. The second one made me start to doubt as paragraph after paragraph went by with no real progression of the story and quite a bit of description of things that should be obvious or left to the reader's imagination. This one put me off the whole series. A good writer needs an even better editor. Kill your darlings. Second draft = 80% or less than first draft.

The author seems unable to write a single sentence about the main character without the word "fat." Spoils what could be a great story. Every time a part of his body is mentioned, it's "his fat shoulder" or "his fat brain."

Great story by one of Britain's best authors. If you enjoy Sandman this will be a close second.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It's a pleasant production but the story is written in a right-wing slant that can be a little disturbing. Imagine Ayn Rand writing 1984. Terrorism is a huge threat in the book but Galveston still exists in 100 years. Want to bet?

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm looking forward to the next installment in the Off to Be the Wizard Series. Fight and Flight.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the great descriptions of the difference in the protagonist's view of time and the other characters. I was also glad so many issues were dealt with such as dry eyes, etc. I also really liked the two daughters' different personalities.

Do you think Syncing Forward needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I'm not sure. I stopped when there was about 10% left so perhaps. If it's not too preachy about capitalism saving us all.

Any additional comments?

Great story idea but disappointed with the right-wing manifesto woven through it. Seems to have been written for that more so than to tell what could have been an awesome story.

Our friends get to fight dragons and get a better grip on their place in the world of 12th century England as they learn with Honor. Scott Meyer has not forgotten what works best and this 4th novel is true to the characters we love while fresh with new adventure and continued character growth. Luke Daniels continues to bring everything to life with just the right amount of acting to keep us engaged and focused on the story. It was great to visit with the folks again.

If you could sum up Off to Be the Wizard in three words, what would they be?

Nerds. Magic. Computers.

What other book might you compare Off to Be the Wizard to and why?

We Are Legion: We Are Bob - because both books involve nerdy guys using technology in a way we haven't seen among the usual SciFi tropes. (Even if in We Are Legion, it's technically all the same guy.)

Which scene was your favorite?

Martin's first arrival in oldy timey days.

Any additional comments?

I came to say how much I enjoy this reader. At first I was a little jarred by his interpretation of Phillip but soon I began to realize that it's a much better voice than I had in my head when reading it myself. Now I am loving this book all over again and enjoying the voices of the characters. It's like reading it for the first time again.
