Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
Maddy is a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, host of excellent parties, giver of thoughtful gifts, and bestower of a searingly perceptive piece of advice or two. She is the cornerstone of her family, a true matriarch...until she commits suicide, leaving her husband Brady and teenage daughter Eve heartbroken and reeling, wondering what happened. How could the exuberant, exacting woman they loved disappear so abruptly, seemingly without reason, from their lives? How they can possibly continue without her?

Beautiful and engaging
Revisado: 09-12-18
I write only good reviews, not because all of the books are worthy, or that I feel I have to say something nice, but because I don’t stay will bad stories - life is too short. Beautifully written and performed 5/5/5 : )

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

I don’t write reviews

... but I loved this on so many levels! I’m ordering the print copy to go in my “favorite” library which I will leave to my family when my time with words ends.

Historia
Plum Kettle does her best not to be noticed because when you're fat, to be noticed is to be judged. She is biding her time at a job answering fan mail for a popular teen girls' magazine until she can afford weight-loss surgery. But lately she is being followed by a girl in outlandish clothes and combat boots.

From "I Diet" to "I watch what I eat"
Revisado: 08-06-18
I would love to say “screw it all I want to eat and drink what I want to eat and drink!” But I can’t. No wheat, no wine, few eggs, no dairy. And when I’m carrying 20 extra pounds, like I am now, I feel like sh-t. But what I loved about this book is that it made me realize WHY I need to focus on what I eat. It’s not because I want a body that everyone desires (which is a good thing since I’m pushing 60), it’s because I want to feel good physically so I can live the life I want to live.
This book is engaging and empowering, and sad, and funny, and articulate, and true.
