Historia
Fifth grade was the worst year of Marc's life. He stunk at gym class, math was too hard for him, the school lunch was horrible, and his class field trip was ruined because he couldn't swim. But what was the most awful thing about fifth grade? Kenny Williamson, the class bully, who called himself the "King of the Jungle". When Marc's mother tells him that his uncle Jake is coming to stay for the whole summer, Marc can't wait. Uncle Jake is a for-real super-cool Navy SEAL. And Uncle Jake has a plan.

Solid explanation for kids and motivating for adults.
Revisado: 05-21-23
I loved this at 38 and it motivated the heck out of me. It put allot into perspective that I knew but couldn’t fully put into words. This will be my kids goal to read or listen to this over the summer.

The end to a great series.
Revisado: 12-06-18
The is effectively the last book if the series as book X is just an afterthought. I am very glad I made it through the series and would definitely had done it all over again. I have listened to the entire series twice and am thinking of listening to it a third time.
This last book was one of my favorites as it actually brings everything to a close. The action is intense and it leaves you not wanting to pause. I don't want to ruin the story so I don't explain everything, but it wraps it all up in the capitol and pretty intense.
Don't give up now, yo ure almost at the end and you will not regret it.

Great Story
Revisado: 11-30-18
Despite some bad reviews, I really loved this book. I was leary going into it but thoroughly enjoyed it
The book begins as a prepper book but eventually turns into a military fiction. The authors authentic use of terminology and jargon shows some real knowledge of military weapons and workings. I don't know if he had served himself but if not, someone that had must have helped him.
The book may not have the biggest "shockers" or mysteries, but there are constantly things through the entire book that really made me think. People had complained about character development but I don't agree with it. He may not have fully developed every character as other authors might, but there is still plenty of development that keeps you in the story.
The narration was great. He is well paced and keeps you interested. I listened to this at 1.5 speed (which is about my average listening speed, if not slower), and this had no impact on how clear and thoughtful that he came across.
All in all, I loved this book and would buy it again. It is almost 25 hours long and a "good ride." I look forward to listening to more of both the Narrorator and the Author.

I love this man's drive.
Revisado: 09-30-18
I really like this book and the man's message. The book is a true inspiration that will revive your drive for success as well as your ability to "stay hungry."
I would not take this book as a "how to" but more as a collection of anecdotal stories of successful people. Many of the stories have a list of guidelines that actually contradict others. However, this actually is very interesting in its own right because it shows how people are very successful with completely different outlooks on life.
I don't know if I care for the pushing of the party scene, but this is what he had to do to make his brand successful and it worked. In general though, love the man's story, his drive and ability to burn his own path.
I bought this on a daily deal, but I would say it is worth a full credit. I would definitely had bought and listened to this book knowing what I know now.

Historia
For most of its 5,000-year existence, China has been the largest, most populous, wealthiest, and mightiest nation on Earth. And for us as Westerners, it is essential to understand where China has been in order to anticipate its future. These 36 eye-opening lectures deliver a comprehensive political and historical overview of one of the most fascinating and complex countries in world history. You'll learn about the powerful dynasties that ruled China for centuries; the philosophical and religious foundations-particularly Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism-that have influenced every iteration of Chinese thought, and the larger-than-life personalities, from both inside and outside its borders, of those who have shaped China's history. As you listen to these lectures, you'll see how China's politics, economics, and art reflect the forces of its past. From the "Mandate of Heaven," a theory of social contract in place by 1500 B.C.E., 3,000 years before Western philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, to the development of agriculture and writing independent of outside influence to the technologically-advanced Han Dynasty during the time of the Roman Empire, this course takes you on a journey across ground that has been largely unexplored in the history courses most of us in the West have taken. In guiding you through the five millennia of China's history, Professor Hammond tells a fascinating story with an immense scope, a welcome reminder that China is no stranger to that stage and, indeed, has more often than not been the most extraordinary player on it.

Very Interesting History!
Revisado: 09-30-18
I am a huge history buff but had never taken the time to learn Chinese history. This material is very well presented and interesting. It amazes me how actually advance China was over the rest of the world in the early times.
I do feel like I struggled to keep up with names and places, perhaps if I actually used the attached material, that may had helped. It explains pretty well the geography of China but it is still pretty hard to imagine without spending the time looking at a map. I would definitely recommend doing this for a short period before starting this.
In the end, I really liked this. I liked it much more than I would have thought I would, due to my bias and affinity for American and European history. It is definitely worth the credit and the time invested.

Made me stop listening to Dune Series
Revisado: 12-19-16
I have Enjoyed Dune but find them getting longer and lacking much of a story line. This book was so terrible it made me wish I could get the 15 hours spent on it. Frank Herbert has lost his sense of style by this book and seems to be really reaching out for attention with the sex scenes and other nonsense.
Listen to at your own risk, it's more like a modern
Sci-fi Original movie that a Dune Book.

Historia
John Maddox Roberts takes listeners back to a Rome filled with violence and evil. Vicious gangs ruled the streets of Crassus and Pompey, routinely preying on plebeian and patrician alike. So the garroting of a lowly ex-slave and the disembowelment of a foreign merchant in the dangerous Subura district seemed of little consequence to the Roman hierarchy.

A Roman Detective Story
Revisado: 08-23-16
This book is not what I expected. it is a Roman Detective Story that reminds me of Sherlock Holmes. I probably didn't read the summary well enough but it's not what I thought. I honestly didn't like it and wished I could return it and I'm not one to ever really ever post a negative review on a book.

Amazing Author and Narrorator
Revisado: 06-19-16
I love this book. I first read his other book Matterhorn and loved that but this his me on a different level. As a combat veteran, this book will bring you to tears from time to time and actually brings to light things you aren't even aware of until it's spoken. It enlightened me and damn near brought tears to my eyes several times.
The author is amazing and the narrator did a very impressive job. I would recommend this to any fellow combat veteran.
