In 8th-century Baghdad, a stranger pleads with the vizier to safeguard the bejeweled tablet he carries, but he is murdered before he can explain. Charged with solving the puzzle, the scholar Dabir soon realizes that the tablet may unlock secrets hidden within the lost city of Ubar, the Atlantis of the sands. Fun book, weird narration.
Revisado: 04-27-23
So my own main gripe is with the narration. The book itself is great. Even the narrator is not bad, just perhaps not suited to this book. I felt that he narrated every single character decently besides the main character himself which really takes you out the story as he makes the main character sound like an American movie trailer announcer while the other Chars are more toned down. Would have been neat to have the story narrated by a native speaker instead.

Historia
Change keeps stalking Edward Stanton. He and his new wife, Sheila, have retreated to his small house in Montana after an unsuccessful attempt at operating a motel in Colorado. That failure has left wounds, especially for Sheila, and now they face a bigger challenge: pregnancy and impending parenthood. Edward begins penning notes to the child (ever precise, he refers to the gestating being as "Cellular Stanton"), as he navigates married life with Sheila, who is unhappy and unfulfilled in Montana; a work partnership with his friend Scott Shamwell, and more.

Wait 6 months after the first two to listen to it.
Revisado: 03-22-23
Well i waited more like a year but the point still stands. To be honest I wasn’t going to listen to the third book because of the narrator change. You can listen to the sample and just feel it is not the same and it is not the Edward we have grown to love.
I’m glad I changed my mind. This third book was so wonderful and emotional and after waiting a year I honestly forgot how my old Edward sounded and the new narrator was okay then. I can tell you i still wish it was the old narrator but it’s not and that’s okay. It’s not a good reason to give up on this last Edward book because it provides Edward with his most beautiful growth yet as a human. I loved it and I’m glad I waited and came back. Thank you Edward for teaching me a few things over your story.

Historia
It is 1890, and in the days before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are visited at Baker Street by a new client. Eve Allerthorpe, eldest daughter of a grand but somewhat eccentric Yorkshire-based dynasty, is greatly distressed, as she believes she is being haunted by a demonic Christmas spirit. Her late mother told her terrifying tales of the sinister Black Thurrick, and Eve is sure that she has seen the creature from her bedroom window. What is more, she has begun to receive mysterious parcels of birch twigs, the Black Thurrick’s calling card.

Historia
Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Historia
At once a beautifully poetic memoir and an exploration of the various ways we live in the world, A Language Older Than Words explains violence as a pathology that touches every aspect of our lives and indeed affects all aspects of life on Earth. This chronicle of a young man's drive to transcend domestic abuse offers a challenging look at our worldwide sense of community and how we can make things better.

Good narration but wrong narrator
Revisado: 08-03-22
So the book itself is good. The problem is that I was already half way through the paperback copy and I switched to the audible and I just can’t pay attention since the author is a male telling his story from that point of view and the narrator on here is a female. It just trips me out every time I try to listen because I already have a male voice for the book in my head. That being said the narrator is very good!! But it just doesn’t work if you have already read the paper version. It’s too bad I should have sampled it before I bought it.
