Great peek into Los Alamos during WWII
Revisado: 01-20-25
I knew basically nothing about Los Alamos during WWII, so this was super interesting to get a peek into what it was like for people from multiple perspectives.

Raunchy
Revisado: 01-02-25
Too raunchy and too much bad language. Story line was kinda fun, but it felt like there were too many obnoxious things like complaining about poor pay for adjunct professors, making sure there's vocalized consent in both sides, blah blah blah. takes all the romance out of it.

Way too far fetched
Revisado: 12-26-24
The things that keep happening to the main character are just too unrealistic. The fire fighter was way too good for her, and the final sex scene was just way too intense.

Had some good twists
Revisado: 09-09-24
I enjoyed this book. For a while, there were aspects that seemed just too unbelievable, but then some twists came along that explained them. I was really surprised by a couple of the twists, so really enjoyed this.

I enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the story about the grandmother the best. I would have liked hearing more about her storyline at the end. But all in all, I enjoyed this.

Interesting Story with some twists
Revisado: 06-03-24
This wasn't my favorite Minka Kent novel, but I did very much enjoy it. There were some twists and it was exciting to see how it would end. Slightly disappointed with the ending since I was hoping for a little better justice to be served, but given the circumstances, it seemed more plausible that way. It was a good read.

Such an intriguing story!
Revisado: 05-15-24
This was so interesting. I love reading these historical fiction books about times and places that I don't know a lot about. I was captivated from the get go to see what would happen. My one minor complaint was that it felt a little difficult at times to keep track of the timeline and how much time had passed between certain passages. But all in all, this was a really great story that highlighted some very realistic and relatable situations that people dealt with.

Thirteen years ago, Jori Trahan’s boyfriend vanished without a trace. Now, after moving back home to Alabama to care for her ailing grandmother and autistic brother, she comes face-to-face with the deadly mystery behind his disappearance. Jori has a rare form of synesthesia, meaning she can “hear” colors; to her, tones of voice are as unique as fingerprints. With the help of this ability and a sympathetic cop, Jori comes dangerously close to uncovering the truth. But those responsible will go to any length - including murder - to keep their dark secrets buried.

This was a great story. I had mostly guessed who the killer was fairly early on, but it was still good to listen and see how it all would shake out.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 05-01-24
This was a big disappointment. I thought I'd be learning a lot about the different national parks. Nope. I typically don't read reviews before reading a book so as not to skew my opinion before I even start. I wish I would have read them before starting this though. Many of my feelings about this book were validated once I finished and read reviews. The author did a lot of complaining. And was very needy. Why would you plan a trip like this and then be upset when you have to spend some days here and there alone? I didn't care for some of her little political jabs so to speak about people who live in rural areas either. And I'm sorry, but who in their right mind would book a massage with an absolute stranger in a town where you know no one, and the massage is going to be in his house?? Wow. And some of the mishaps in the parks seemed like very amateur mistakes to make. It didn't feel like she really grew much during the whole experience either. I was interested just enough to finish and see how this trainwreck would end. Although I contemplated giving up many times... Be warned it's not a feel good, exciting adventure book about national parks....
