Historia
December 2024. As the world elite moves closer to complete domination, war is being waged on both sides of Earth. Two paths from separate worlds move inevitably closer as ancient secrets are revealed that will change the paradigm of human history. On one side, a man fights for the survival of his family and community while a woman strives to lead her civilization to what can only be total victory over impossible odds.

Not worth a listen

Note: I received this book for free from the author through a post on Reddit.
There were aspects of the story that were almost good. The background stuff that was only hinted at should have been the focus of this story (it took way too long to look at a flash drive). Too much of the book focused on the local conflict despite the story not actually residing there. It would have been much improved with the background elements being the forefront. Get to the nova Roma conflict sooner. Give Jack something to actually do.
Jack is also made out to be this awesome military interrogator. I guess we only know cuz he told us. He never actually interrogated anybody in the book. His overall character development lacked as well. He was the same person from the beginning to the end. Events never truly affected him.
The dialogue between characters was the worst part of this book. Characters talked in the most stiff way. It seems that the author forgot that people talk informally and use contractions. I couldn’t get over how contractions just seemed to be nonexistent.
The narrators accent fit the setting well and he did a pretty good job overall. I would like to see a bit more range for character dialogue though.
