Historia
We know the legends: Arthur brought justice to a land that had known only cruelty and force; his father, Uther, carved a kingdom out of the chaos of the fallen Roman Empire; the sword Excalibur, drawn from stone by England's greatest king. But legends do not tell the whole tale. Legends do not tell of the despairing Roman soldiers, abandoned by their empire, faced with the choice of fleeing back to Rome, or struggling to create a last stronghold against the barbarian onslaughts from the north and east.

Loved historical accuracy !
Revisado: 02-27-24
Loved the evolution of the characters! The different traditions and cultures represented was always so interesting and written in a way that tells the story in an unbiased way. Loved and learned to appreciate the skill, imagination, and art of sword making . Excalibur does not disappoint in that respect. The drama was great! can't wait to read the next book!

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

A description of true hardship.
Revisado: 02-23-24
The story was written well, however, the almost gratuitous deference to Communism ignored the historical contributions of faith based organizations.
The appearance of Communism on the scene in America was actually far more political having its roots in the unrest in Europe. I enjoyed the book.

I love the series but the reiterating of all the previous books had me skipping chapters! HOWEVER, the new characters and the storyline is great! And you can't skip the book as it's a cliffhanger book!

The master at his scarifying best! From heart-pounding terror to the eeriest of whimsy - tales from the outer limits of one of the greatest imaginations of our time! Trucks that punish and beautiful teen demons who seduce a young man to massacre; curses whose malevolence grows through the years; obscene presences and angels of grace - here, indeed, is a night-blooming bouquet of chills and thrills.

Historia
Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

nice read on rainy days
Revisado: 04-16-22
Read this author before and loved his writing. Although this had more of a personal perspective, I could tell that there was a lot of understanding in someone who's been bullied. Loved the richness of Sam's friend Mickey and Ernie characters. All three experiencing the same scorn of being different for different reasons , Sam for his red eyes, Ernie for being black, and Mickey for having a promiscuous reputation. I love the comraderie of these 3 friends and how they survive and help each other through the rough times of their lives. I also love the steadfastness , and strength of Sam's mother. As a mother of 3 ...I have gone to battle with the public schools as well and can relate to her mama bear attitude. I would love to read an autobiography of the author and his 8 siblings...sounds like a lot of adventure in it!

Rob Inglis has the perfect tone of voice and falsettoes for every character in the story. The story is, of course, The Hobbit, so it was a pleasure to listen to. Certainly worth the time, as well as the money or credit.
