Historia
Raised by human traffickers, I learned from an early age that the one person I can trust is myself. Rescued and brought to Thornbriar Academy, I've only traded one kind of imprisonment for another. When a scorching hot jaguar shifter and a scandalously hunky water shifter take me in, I start to believe I've found a home and a pack. Until I discover a devastating secret that just might get me - and them - killed.

I don't mind having a female narrator if the entire story is written from only the female character's point-of-view. However, it becomes strange when a story is written from both male and female character's point-of-view but you only get narration from a female narrator. Kept having to go back and check the chapter titles to verify who was the point of view character. It REALLY threw me for a loop. Also, the female main character was SUPER selfish. Normally, I can overlook character flaws if I see character growth. However, this character just rubbed me the wrong way. She kept claiming mates... Meaning they physically couldn't be with anyone else... Yet, she wouldn't be faithful or tied down? Yeah, that just seemed really cold/awful/unredeemable. Sorry. Just my take on it.

Historia
Re-released in a second edition with new content. The town of Bliss, Colorado, offered Hope McLean a second chance at life, a gift she cherishes every day. Her past was dominated by dark secrets and regret, most of which centered on a man named Christian Grady. All of that was behind her now, years of horror distilled down into the occasional nightmare or a random feeling of being watched. Surrounded by new friends, she tried hard to leave the past where it belonged - in the rearview mirror.

Decent read, but a lot of drama between the heros.

Overall, I absolutely love Lexi Blake's writing style and sarcastic wit. This story was absolutely on par with the rest of the series with plot, action, and intrigue... However, I didn't love James with his manwh0r!ng ways... Yes, I'm sure that's lovely for our female main character to see how he actively messed around with any and ALL females in there general area... Except her. In fact, the single time SHE worked up the courage to ask him out? He turned her down and then continued sleeping his way through the female population? I'm sorry, that's not attractive behavior in a hero.
If he hadn't felt good enough for her, then it would have made a lot more sense for him to work and focus on making his life/finances better... Let's not imagine how much money he spent on taking women out for drinks, dinner, s-x related costs...
It makes him completely unattractive because he has already devalued what he thought the heroine was worth. He was with every other woman around while making her watch... And not even with discretion. It proved to me that he never had much interest in the heroine prior to her possibly being taken by another man. It's insulting to the heroine... She's only good enough now because he could lose her/or maybe he's already had every other option around/and he's jealous of her finally being with someone else. He never cared enough about her feelings, and how she felt seeing him with a million different women? Nah. No thanks. That's one "hero" I'd have to pass on. However, Noah was perfection. He had made mistakes in his past but with our heroine? His intent/interest never waivered. James though? He was the worse kind of "hero" around... I can't be attracted to a hero I don't respect by the end of the story.
