Historia
It's been nearly two years since Vanja brought down the cult she started, and she’s still paying the price. As the Pfennigeist, she bucks the law in order to help the desperate and haunt the corrupt all across the empire—and no matter what, she works alone. But an impossible killer is tearing through royalty, and leaving Vanja’s signature red penny on every victim. Suddenly the Pfennigeist is no longer a folk hero but a nightmare. When even the Blessed Empress falls, the empire’s seven royal families must gather to elect her successor within a matter of weeks.

Lorelei Kaskel, a folklorist with a quick temper and an even quicker wit, is on an expedition with six eccentric nobles in search of a fabled spring. Loved the sapphic romantasy vibes
Revisado: 03-15-25
Usually I enjoy this author much more. The writing is good. The story was fine. I liked that it was sapphic. Went from hate to love fairly easily. From dislike to sudden longing. Didn’t find the story very exciting, ending was lack luster.

I loved that all the doubts paid off when everything we were worried about was indeed part of the story and part of the character growth. From. the. beginning.

Impressed
Revisado: 02-13-25
I’m so glad I finally read this book! It’s been on my tbr for months. This was a great story of love and adventure- fantasy romance with a sci fi elements. The relationship is well developed, the writing is very good, and the spice was spicing. This is a paranormal/monster romance, just fyi.

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Strong and brave FMC, very spice forward
Revisado: 12-18-24
This was a high spice high stakes romantasy that definitely felt like the spice was high on the priority list and plot was second. However there was still plot and adventure and magic. Needed more world building- I didn’t think I’d ever say that! More explanation of how magic works, what the limitations are, why it exists, etc.
The spice happened before the characters had established a connection, which never feels romantic to me. We never got the longing which I feel is very important.
Another shadow wielding MMC who is ready to sacrifice everything for his friends…. Hmmm where have I read that before?
All the cursing just feels like the author doesn’t have a good vocabulary. I mean really just about every other sentence (it seemed). At some point it’s just laziness.
I was definitely expecting things based on some of the conversations in the book that never happened- so maybe in the next one?
The audio was in duet and very good.
I loved the side characters. We have a funny and charming sort of ex boyfriend, a sweet warrior/singer with an Irish accent, and a mean, brash, and violent female warrior who needs much more development. Also a best friend general who is sort of a fatherly character, and a moral compass.
I liked the strength and bravery of the FMC. Her powers are different and interesting. I felt like her character development was much stronger than the MMC.
Also a litany of magical creatures which is fun. I’d like more interactions with non high fae in the next book.
Despite all that I wanna see what happens next. I am such a sucker.

Historia
Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother’s band on live tv, Mel begins to wonder if it’s time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life…and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.

Can’t help but cheer for this adorable couple. Loved it.
Revisado: 11-21-24
I loved this!!
-Super spicy-
The children of two former female bandmates meet as teenagers and feel an instant connection. Years later they are brought together again to try to get their parents back together for a reunion show. Hijinks ensue and romance follows.
The cast of characters in this book is so much fun. Their mothers cracked me up with their opposite personalities and lifestyles. There are also issues being addressed between the parents and children, and a growing support system all around them.
Basically a super schmexy fun time, and a couple you can’t help but root for.
Narrators- female is great. I’d much rather only have her. The male role sounded too news-caster for a long time. Still it was good and by the end I didn’t notice it anymore. I wish whoever makes these decisions would just use women voice actors though. They are always better. Sorry dude.

I imagine it has to be difficult to establish a connection in such a short word count but this was cute. Hot. Far fetched. Would read a longer book with more character development and probably love it.
