Narration: The Narrator, Jonathan Waters, was wonderful. He made the accents come alive and the characters feel like they were right there. I’ll be checking his list later to see what else of his I can pick up for a listen!
Story: This was my first book by Alan Baxter. I loved the premise and the characters. As an editor though, the POV changes were distracting and the main reason for the lower rating. But don’t let that stop you from this book or audio. The storyline and characters make it worth it and I’ll be picking up the rest of the series in ebook format so its easier for me to follow.
I think there’s a little bit of everything in this book to make everyone happy. You have the action, the fantasy, the gore, and the sexiness. The world-building was amazing and detailed. So overall, it’s a recommendation from me if you like those in your novels!

Revisado: 02-12-20
Narration: This was my first book read by Allan Callaway, and I have to say that although he had a wonderful voice, he read too fast to keep up with what was going on. I normally listen to audibles while at work since my job can get repetitive, but this was too intricate for that, then add in the speed he was going and there was no way I could follow. Once home, I had to slow the playback down, which really isn't too big of a deal. There were repeated sentences, skips in the recording, and worse of all there was very distracting background noise.
Story: Some basic thoughts as I listened: there were way too many he/she said, asked, replied. Some sentences could easily have been removed from the story to improve the flow. I felt that it wasn’t ready for audio with a final script edit.
I think this would have been an amazing read! The storyline was a good one that you don’t see every day. It seemed well-written from the story point of view, and once I was able to slow it down, I enjoyed the characters. I’ve not read anything by Austin S. Camacho before, but I’ll be looking for his ebooks. I would still give another audio a shot as well, as long as there was another narrator for it because I enjoyed how things worked and moved, but the narration was just not for me.

Historia
Hearing those words from his very straight, very ex-best friend doesn’t put Nate in a helpful mood. Not only did Kellan Brooks’s father destroy Nate’s family in his quest for power, but Kellan broke Nate’s heart back in high school. Nate thought he could trust his best friend with the revelation that he might be gay, only to find out he was horribly wrong and become the laughingstock of the whole school. Kellan must be truly desperate if he’s turning to Nate now.

4 stars for me
Revisado: 01-29-20
Narration: Chet Daniel seems to be new to the scene and only has a few books in audible. That’s just a sin as far as I’m concerned. I loved his voice. I was able to get right into the story and enjoy the listen.
Story: So not only was Chet new to me, but so was K.A. Mitchell. I have a few of her books on my kindle—including this series—but never the time to get to them! So this was perfect. I liked the story, even though I’m not a huge fan of gay-for-you stories. If done well, they are really good but finding those can be hard. This was a good one, though. Serial dater asking an old frenemy to help make his dad pissed pretending to be gay. Not a new idea by far, but I liked it anyway. And to be fair, I’m late to the game since the ebook was released…ummm…2011 lol!
The characters…Nate tries to put up a good fight to keep his feelings in check, he really does. But Kellan just bullies his way in there and doesn’t let go. There are some really good laughs in this book. In fact, the blurb warns you not to drink while reading, and I have to agree. It was cute, funny, sexy, and entertaining for me. I liked the way the author was able to make them completely self-centered but likable as well. But we get to see the personal growth from both of them and how the two work each other into their lives.
There is some subplot going on as well between the characters’ fathers get we get a little of. That could have been fleshed out a bit more, I thought, but it was a good subplot. Overall it was a good listen for me.

Narration: Scott R. Smith has a wonderful voice. I think it sounded a bit older for the character, but it worked for me. The cadence and emphasis were good. There were some spots where it's not clean and a little muffled, but the story made up for it. I would love more stories read by him.
Story: This was my first Cate Ashwood book, and it won’t be my last. I noticed she has a long list there just waiting for me to read…now to find the time!
Wow, I loved these guys! I want A Fallen Heart right now, but it’s been pulled for now. (Hint, hint, Cate!) I found myself cheering for them right from the start. These two were high-school friend-emies (depends on which one you asked). Now grown, they both have hectic jobs in the healthcare system—paramedic and forensic pathologist.
Adam is kind of a jerk, but then he feels like he has to be. As the paramedic, it’s about being in the closet for him. The people he works with are openly homophobic, and he’s outnumbered (I’ve read a few reviews where this was a problem for the reader, knowing a couple of paramedics, it is a thing and something to consider). Then as the story moved along, I was able to see him with Sam and my heart melted for him.
Then there’s Sam. He’s had a crush on Adam since school, but Adam was with the guys that made his life in school hell. Years later when they see each other again, Sam still has those feelings.
This is a love story with a mystery thrown in. What other readers might find hard is that the HEA is completed, but the mystery is hanging there for book two. But don’t let that stop you from reading this! It’s a good story with HOT scenes and wonderful characters and some not-so-wonderful ones that I loved to hate.

Narration: This was my first by Lou Lambert. He had a deep voice with a lovely southern accent that soothed as he read. The cadence was easy to follow, and he used perfect emphasis where needed. If you write southern-themed MM stories, this is the narrator for you.
Story: As for the story. This was a sweet love story that built over time. I say sweet, but really, Dakota had been through absolute hell in jail. Jayden showed patience and a willingness to work through things. His faith in Dakota’s innocence was amazing and heartfelt. Although this is a series, I started here. I would think it would make the reading of this better knowing the past characters that are in this book, but it wasn’t a must for me. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, but I did want to get the other books by the time I was finished!
At nineteen, Dakota was a chubby, unattractive rich kid that was accused and found guilty of raping a girl at a party. Since his release, things are tough, like the girl’s family harassing him and working for low wages. But he pushes forward and doesn’t let things get him down. He did what he had to in jail—being the laundry whore—to make it through. Because of that, he doesn’t see himself as worthy anymore. Topping that off, his parents abandoned him when he was arrested and told his siblings and the public that he’d died. Now at 32 and recently released, a pen-pal named Sage is making it his mission to help. He meets Jayden through Sage. I liked this character and how B.A. wrote him.
Jayden is a retired prosecutor turned real estate lawyer. He had his own issues, I’m guessing the book before, but it’s explained here in enough detail that I understood what was going on. He agrees to look into Dakota’s case, and he’s shocked to learn that there was DNA evidence that was never tested. So that’s where he starts. His character helped pull me into the story and kept it interesting as things moved. So there is a plot in with the romance.
I enjoyed listening to the story, and I’ll be looking for more in the series.

New Grey series, yes please!

4 stars
Narration: Michael Pauley has an amazing voice. I thought he read a bit too fast and emphasized things a bit too much where it wasn’t called for, so I marked this down by 1 star for that. However, it didn’t ruin any of the listening for me. He brought the heat to the sex scenes and kept me pulled into the story. He also gave Angus a very good Scottish brogue (my favorite being married to a Scot! lol). I can’t wait for the rest!
Story: I’m a huge fan of Andrew Grey as a writer, but also a pretty nice guy. Yeah, I fangirled at EPC a couple of years ago! I’m always looking for more Carlisle stories! So this was a no-brainer for me. This book was the first in the series.
In this book, we meet firefighter, Morgan, and ex-military disabled vet, Richard. These two were friends as kids, but Morgan had to move away and they lost touch. Years later, and they’re both back where they started…kind of.
Morgan is now a firefighter. His character doesn’t come across as a danger junkie, but he’s the one that goes into a burning building to get the people out. He thinks he’s happy with just his job and friends, but figures out soon that he’s lonely. When he’s called out to a fire, the small family there says that there’s a guy still in the house. Morgan finds him in a wheelchair and carries him out. Later, off shift, he does his normal hospital visit to see anyone he’s rescued.
Richard was the man in the wheelchair. At first, Morgan doesn’t recognize him. But when he does, he offers Richard a place to live while he figures things out. Grey wrote Richard’s character very well in my opinion. He’s fighting his depression and the many losses he’s had over the last couple of years. He was military and paralyzed in an attack. He lost fellow soldiers, but he also lost his parents on the way home from seeing him. He really loses everything. He’s living with a family of a service member that died in his unit, but the house was attacked by an arsonist hell-bent on hurting military families.
The story grabbed me and didn’t let go, even at the end! I was cheering for these two from the moment Morgan realizes the guy in the hospital bed was his husband when they were thirteen. It has a great flow and the relationship builds at a good pace. There are some great hot scenes, but there’s also a good sub-plot going on with the arsonist. And I’m not wasting a minute before I start book 2!

Loving this series
Revisado: 12-25-19
Narration: Tristan James…another hit for me! I Love his voice. The cadence was perfect, and he kept the tempo and emphasis where it was called for. I hadn’t read this series before listening, but that made no difference to understanding what was going on, even though I was at my day job. I’m beginning to think he’s always going to be a hit for me.
Story: This is the second book by Mary Calmes in this series. Its an older series, but I’ve just found this author recently, and I’m working through her library. So please bear with me. It must be read in order since the characters are the same just further into their lives.
The story starts with the two MCs partnered for 3 years. Miro was brought up in foster care as an orphan who found his chosen family in college. It’s a collage of women who have moved all over the US, but they’ll drop anything for any of the group.
Miro is the calm one of their partnership in the Marshals, and Ian is the opposite of that. He’s rash and crazy. He also owns a werewolf, Chickie Baby. Ian is sort-of an ex-special forces guy, but he still gets called for service way more than he should.
Again, the story is in Miro’s POV throughout the book. And it's not just focused on the romance, we also learn Miro is a clothes whore! Again, Ian is called away for a while, so we get more plot, and we meet a future bad guy.
The story starts with action that doesn’t stop until the end. It has foot chases, bad guys in prison that give you the creeps, cutie twinks that get you in the feels, and two bad-ass Marshals that are figuring out how to love hard.

4.5 stars
Narration: Michael Pauley has an amazing voice. I can tell the difference in Michaels’ reading from the first two books. He’s really starting to come into his narrating skills. I still think he has a very sexy voice and brings the story to life. His cadence has improved so much over the year between the books in this series…and looking up his other narrations, there are plenty more to listen to by him! YES!
Story: When I read the blurb, I was curious to see how Grey was going to have Dean become a dad without a spouse. Dean trying to be straight to make everyone happy was a good way to do that. In this love story, we have a firefighter dealing with a sick child, Sammy. He doesn’t meet his love interest at a fire like in the other two books. Instead, he brings his son in to meet the huge stuffed dalmatian that Marco uses as a photo prop. Marco offers a free photoshoot that melted my heart! The love parts were a little faster in this one, but it wasn’t insta-love. The title was perfect.
Marco was a foster kid, turned photographer that’s about to hit it big. He’s worked hard for everything he has. Marco not only lost his mother at a young age to cancer, but he also fought it himself, which helps with his interactions with Sammy. Both characters are deep and realized so the story moves at a good pace.
Some side stories are going on in this book that are worth a mention because they could have changed the direction of the story. Marco’s foster parents play a significant role when they explain some truths to him. They change his point of view on things in a good way.
Dean’s mother is wonderful and helps put his father in his place. But before that happens, he tries to cause issues for the couple.
This is another must-read series by Andrew Grey!

Narration: Michael Pauley has an amazing voice. This was the same as book 1 for me.
Story: In this book, we meet firefighter, Lawson, and mature student, Dayne. The book was a love story for these two, but also a past love story running in the background that has such a history for Lawson’s family. (My grandfather was placed in one of these schools, so I get the significance of it all.)
We first meet Dayne. He’s an older student working his way through college with a disability from a crash that had cost him the love of his life. He lost his mother just after, and he’s struggling to keep everything together. He meets a handsome guy in the library, but it doesn’t come to anything. Then his house catches fire. Thank goodness he was at college, so he has his books, computer, and research material. But seeing his mother’s house burn, he loses it right there.
Lawson’s bought the house of his dreams thinking that and his job was all he needed in life, only to figure out that the house really isn’t a home. At work, Lawson sees the man he met earlier that day fall as he watched the house fire destroy a home and runs over to make sure he’s okay. When he realizes that Dayne is losing his home, he offers to take him in while he figures things out. Dayne accepts, but he’s determined to stand on his own feet again.
This was another home run for Grey. It’s a great build-up love story. The secondary love story building in the background gave it more depth for me. There’s a jerk of an insurance guy, but Angus, the Scottish fire inspector, fixes that issue. Then, Lawson ends up in the hospital with some bad injuries. Other than that, it’s about the two love stories.

Narrator needs a partner
Revisado: 12-25-19
3 stars
Narration: Let me say that the lack of stars is for narration here. Kaeomakana Tiwanak has a cute, young, twink-sounding voice, and if he’d read just the parts for Mackenzie (maybe slowed down the cadence a little) and there had been another narrator with a deep voice working as a team for this reading Travis’ parts, I would have given the narration 5 stars (hopefully). But unfortunately, it didn’t, so it was distracting at best. It actually caused me to miss important parts. Like a description of the characters. I’m going back to the ebook and reading the series. But I’ll be poking my head in to see when the next comes out to see if the writers sort this.
Story: I started with this book, and that seemed to be okay. It is a series and should probably be read as such, so I’ll be reading it in order sometime next month. I even picked up book 1.5, King’s Rogue, to read as well. I think any fan of Sons of Anarchy should probably read this. It’s like an MM version! I loved the dual POVs idea. Its always a plus in my book, but like I said before, I would have really loved a proper voice for Travis.
I liked both the main characters, Mackenzie and Travis. Whoever thought a stalker could be endearing?! LOL Travis is a stalker…there’s no other way to say it. But lol it works with the story, and I actually liked him a lot. His motivations are clear and written well. But he’s a bit distracted and it costs his brother instead of himself.
Mackenzie had some twists to his character that I also really liked. Yeah, he had a cheating ex in New York, but he also has a family history with an MC back in California. That brings Travis to lie, and trouble ensues from there. We meet a few of the characters from the MC, and I’d like to get to know them a bit.
Let me just say this, these are NOT the cuddly non-criminal bikers! Well, they may be cuddly, but they aren’t law-abiding. It seems like a great storyline with great characters…so I’ll be pushing the series in my to-be-read list!
