Historia
Every spring, the aristocratic magical families of Victorian England gather secretly at Merlin Hall to hobnob and hold the annual Fey Parliament. While the adults of Magic-kind—from wizards to wood elves, fauns to fairies, giants to djinnis, and their human counterparts—debate matters of importance, the gifted youths must undergo the dreaded Assessments, testing their supernatural abilities. And Jake's up next. For rascally Jake Everton, the boy Earl of Griffon, the pressure's on! Jake must prove himself to the Elders as a worthy young hero-in-training.

Jake makes new friends
Revisado: 09-17-22
Jake's adventures continue as he, his best friend, and his cousins travel to Merlin Hall for the great spring festival. This is not just a party for Jake, though--he must take his assessment to determine what magical training he will receive in the future.
While waiting to be summoned for his assessment, he watches as a young witch, Nixie Valentine, and a guardian-in-training, Maddox St. Trinian, face their challenges. His initial opinion of Nixie is that she is too haughty to be friends with anyone, and he can't even begin to think of being friends with the arrogant Maddox. Little does he know as he observes them that they will become part of his group of friends!
As the festival progresses, Jake and his friends run into numerous adventures, including the theft of Queen Victoria's royal standard, an attack on Archie by a half troll-half human boy, adventures in an Enchanted Gallery of paintings, and the persecution of Nixie by four malevolent beings. The group ends up working together to free Nixie from her tormentors and wind up becoming fast friends and allies.
This is an exciting, fun entry in the Gryphon Chronicles and I highly recommend it. New readers will likely enjoy it, but will probably have more appreciation for the overall story by reading the first three books before starting this one.
