I REALLY wanted to like this book but....
Revisado: 03-17-24
I'm bummed because I think I would really like this book if there was a different narrator. The narrator of this book mumbles at times when she's reading and her way of reading just completely irritated me. It's hard to explain it, but it was like this for example. She would....... read a few words.....in the......sentence....and.......... then read some more........ only to....... start...... the next sentence......... with you........ realizing........it. I tried increasing the speed but it didn't help.
Every character, regardless of their accent, sounded basically the same. The only character that had a distinct voice was The Ghost.
I also want to add that I wasn't a fan of Kiran's either, but I think that is because when the narrator was taking as Kiran she always sounded nervous and unsure of herself.
Maybe reading the actual book will be a better way to enjoy this book because the audiobook didn't do it for me.

Not for me
Revisado: 08-17-21
I did not like anything about this book.... Besides the character Howie. I honestly don't know if it was the monotone voice of the narrator, the storyline or both together. Maybe if there was another narrator I would have liked it but I'm really not sure. I would literally zone out and start thinking of other things while listening to the narrator when I was driving. It caused me to have to go back a whole chapter because I had no idea what was going on when I refocused on listening.
The main character was possibly depressed and the narrators monotone voice made that even more evident throughout the whole book. As a matter of fact everyone sounded deeply depressed in this book... even the ghost.
I got to the last 15 minutes of the book and I couldn't take it anymore. I had to listen to something else and force myself to go back and listen to the last 15 minutes. The ending was so bland and anticlimactic for a ghost story that I wasn't sure if it was actually the finality of the book or a "to be continued" type ending.
I regret wasting my Audible credit on this book. I'm not sure if I will try this author again. I'm surely going to avoid books with this narrator.

Great book!!

I really enjoyed this. The narrator is awesome. I do wish that there was a little more info in regards to what happened to the "bad guys" part being arrested. But hey.... That may come up in another book. 😊

Historia
Forensic anthropologist Bill Brockton has spent 25 years solving brutal murders - but none so horrific and merciless as his latest case: A ravaged set of skeletal remains is found scattered in the woods of nearby Cook County. They are all that is left of a victim who had been chained, hand and foot, to a tree on a remote mountainside. The bones tell Brockton and his longtime graduate assistant, Miranda, that the victim was a young male under the age of thirty. As they dig deeper to establish his identity, they uncover warning signs that long-simmering hatred is about to explode.

I tried twice, but.....I don't like it.
Revisado: 11-23-16
I'm not a fan of this book. I tried listening to this book a few years ago, and I stopped because it was going extremely slow, and to me, the narrator just made it worse. I just recently tried again, and I had to force myself to finish listening. Everything in the book seemed hard for me to connect to. Especially the characters. I don't know if I would have liked it better if I had read it vs. listened to it, but I'm not going to find out because I was soo happy when it was over.
