Great adventure. Bristling and raw.

This was a great story of perseverance and toughness. Glass is a legend not only in his time but ours as well. As men, we could all learn from this story.

Great book, excellent adventure. Minus the children!!
Revisado: 07-27-15
I love this story for the adventure, the science and of course the dinosaurs!! I could do without the kids bitching about every little thing. I just don't get why they're in the novel. Just like the movie, they are annoying, whinny and add nothing to the the story. I found myself waiting for a raptor or the T-Rex to eat one of them. (And it almost happens!) Other than that, it's a great listen and Scott Brick does a great job as well.

Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Revisado: 03-23-15
The wife never stops blaming the husband for something he had no control over. She is just a helpless character that brings nothing to the table. The whole thing was just annoying to listen too. Skip this one, don't waste your time. I expect better from Crouch. He's a good writer but this one is a miss.

My favorite band got me into my favorite Author.
Revisado: 03-20-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, absolutely. Hemingway is a genius. I love the way he writes. He just pulls you in like nothing else. He has a way of conveying emotion and situations that is so enthralling.
Any additional comments?
Okay, I am a huge Metallica fan. The song that got me into Metallica was, For whom the Bells Tolls. So naturally I had to get this book. It only took me 20 years to finally read/listen to the book. Hemingway is now my favorite author. My favorite band got me into my favorite author. Or was it the other way around?

Beautifully Written. Dark adventure tale.
Revisado: 01-08-14
Would you listen to Heart of Darkness: A Signature Performance by Kenneth Branagh again? Why?
Yes and probably will. This was a great quick listen. The Branagh did a superb job.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite caracter was Manager Kurtz. He was just so intriguing. As soon as you meet him a million questions fill your head. It makes it even more fun to listen to when you picture him as Marlon Brando. (Coppola's Apocalypse Now was adapted after this story)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes,
I thought Conrad did an excellent job of depicting how mythical and mysterious equatorial Africa was, "It had become a place of darkness. But there was in it one river especially, a mighty big river, that you could see on the map, resembling an immense snake uncoiled, with its head in the sea, its body at rest curving afar over a vast country, and its tail lost in the depths of the land...but I could not shake off the idea. The snake had charmed me."
Any additional comments?
This was a great listen. It is written the way that adventure stories are supposed to be written. You really get inside the characters heads. The descriptions of the surroundings, the people, their interactions with each other and the mystery and intrigue are what make Heart of Darkness a tale for the ages.

Revisado: 12-29-13
Would you listen to Sandman Slim again? Why?
I would listen to Sandman Slim again. Its just entertaining to listen to. Narration is good, story is good what else do you need?
Any additional comments?
The book is very dark and thats something that I like. Kadrey is not afraid to go places that other won't go . He does a great job of blending magic, violence, dark comedy, romance, redemption and good old fashioned story telling. He does all of this in a artful way that is very rare. He strikes a very surprising balance which translates into a thrill ride that is well worth the time and money investment.

Historia
James Stark, a.k.a. Sandman Slim, crawled out of Hell, took bloody revenge for his girlfriend’s murder, and saved the world along the way. After that, what do you do for an encore? You take a lousy job tracking down monsters for money. It’s a depressing gig, but it pays for your beer and cigarettes. But in L.A., things can always get worse. Like when Lucifer comes to town to supervise his movie biography and drafts Stark as his bodyguard.

Revisado: 12-29-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you want to get into the Mitch Rapp series, start here. This is a great book. If you listen to it you will find the underworld of espionage and what it takes to fight the war on terror. Mitch Rapp is my favorite character in any novel. He is this generations Jack Ryan. Flynn did a wonderful job of story telling and character development. He goes into detail where many other authors would just glance over. Although he doesn't go into extreme depth like Clancy often does. His style is wonderful. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a heart pounding thriller that has many books in the series for you to enjoy. I envy you if you have not listened to any of Flynn's novels yet. You have hours and hours of great listening ahead of you!!!!
What was one of the most memorable moments of American Assassin?
Rapp going one on one with Stan Hurley.
Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?
Stan Hurley, just a crotchety old vet that really helps to kick off this series, as he trains a young Mitch Rapp become a methodical if at times, lose cannon, terrorist killing machine.

Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

What an Introduction by Ben Coes!!!!
Revisado: 12-29-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a great first installment to a series. It does get a bit far fetched at times but, hey this is fiction. I loved Power Down. I was looking for another Flynn-esque series and found it in Power Down. The rest of the series only gets better as you go on. I have all of them in my library. I can't wait for Coe's June release of Independence Day as the fifth installment. Ben does really knows his stuff. He works in the world of finance and has a lot of first hand experience that really shines in this book. He also has experience in the drilling and energy sector as well, which turns out to be instrumental in the story line of Power Down. The book also has a afterward with Ben Coes and Mitt Romney, they discuss what influenced Ben to write the book and how his life experiences have allowed him to create such a dynamic and realistic character in Dewy Andreas. I recommend this one my friends!!
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the real life finical scheming, the use of actual industrial energy production tactics, all while throwing in political intrigue and thrilling character development. And its just plain fun to listen to Dewy get to the bottom of it all.

Historia
The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

The Last Installation from My Favorite Author
Revisado: 12-29-13
What did you like best about this story?
This is classic Flynn. It has everything. And Rapp is at his best. Although it is not as good as some of his other works. Last Man is still a great book. I have listened to all of the Rapp novels multiple time and can't get enough of them. Mitch Rapp is the man that we hope hope is really out there.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did.
