Historia
Lt. Joe Gunther of the Brattleboro, Vermont, police force has a serious problem: in a community where a decade could pass without a single murder, the body count is suddenly mounting. Innocent citizens are being killed - and others set up - seemingly orchestrated by a mysterious ski-masked man. Signs suggest that a three-year-old murder trial might lie at the heart of things, but it's a case that many in the department would prefer remained closed. A man of quiet integrity, Lt. Gunther knows that he must pursue the case to its conclusion, wherever it leads.

I am glad I found this series.
Revisado: 09-02-22
I like the characters, the narrator and the way the author let's you get to know them through the ordinary details of life as well as the extraordinary. I stared a book in the middle of series, then went back to 1st. I will continue to book 2 next.

Narration horrible. Story ok.
Revisado: 10-24-21
I have read or listened to all of Grisham's books. Listening to this was painful. The person reading sounds like she should be on a suicide watch.
The story was ok. Many lines were repeated throughout book. The characters were not well devoted and not too interesting. Maybe the depressed reader had something to do with making the character's boring. I am getting my money back on this one. I have listened 1000 books and have returned a handful.

I love the orphan x series!
Revisado: 02-02-21
This was a great story. Made x seem much more human. There was a good amount of different tensions, a look into the past of the orphans, and fast moving. I adore Scott Brick's narration. It is like getting together with an old friend. Sometimes I listen to books in genres I don't even like because he is narrating them. Thanks to Greg and Scott for another good ride, especially in the midst of this Covid catastrophe!

Conservatives bypass this one.
Revisado: 11-19-20
Connelly directly calls President Trump a liar in this book. It ruined the story. He felt he had to share his vitriolic hatred, like mentally ill people do. That's it for me. plus he made defense lawyers look like saints...

Book not as well written as other Reacher stories.
Revisado: 11-07-19
This did not flow like other Reacher books. Too much repition in phrases as if audience is senile. No humor in this book at all. The story line was pretty lame and completely unbelievable. Do not waste your time. You could skip every 3 chapters and not miss a thing, like an eternal soap opera. Even Scott Brick, the best narrator on earth, could not jack this story up.

Nate doesn’t want to listen. He’s between missions and just wants to relax, not to travel hundreds of miles and hunt for the driver of the car that hit someone he doesn’t even know. But ignoring the call is not an option. What Nate had hoped would be a simple mission turns into something much more sinister, when he discovers a wide-reaching evil, festering in a small Northern California town. To confront it, he will need all the skills he’s learned working in the shadow world.
