Historia
David knows all about working in a dead-end job. At least he thinks he does. After a freak accident in the barren wilderness of the Australian outback, he finds himself confronted with the true meaning of the term. David is now a dungeon core, charged with producing armies of minions and ensuring his domain is a place where the unworthy go to die. But the accident not only transformed David, it fractured him. Part of his psyche still remains with his broken body.

A fun interesting take on a dungeon core novel.

Good narration.

The narrator does a passable Australian accent. Not being from Australia, I'm not sure if it would sound authentic to someone from that country, but it sounded pretty accurate to this American listener.
I've discovered I'm not generally a fan of the dungeon core subgenre of RPG lit books, preferring to read about people playing a game, rather than building dungeons for other players to go through, but overall I liked this book. A good sense of humor in parts, but balanced with some horror elements nicely.

The British narrator was a good choice for this book. I would recommend this for fans of Lovecraft, and the more modern settings I think make the stories more readable by a modern audience.

Historia
Alara was once ruled by the Leobregae, an order of terrifyingly powerful lion shapeshifters. Arrogant and violent, they wiped themselves out in an endless fight for the throne. Now, only old retired soldier Torrhen Morbihan remembers them, and he is the last of his generation. But when his young apprentice brings him a shining Leobregu sword, everything changes. Old Tor has a lion in him now, and it wants power...and it will destroy him from the inside out to claim it. Power's Curse is the first in the Rebel Lion series from K.J. Taylor.

I thought the world building in this book was particularly unique, the hero being an old man, rather than the usual younger hero stereotype. Also, winged lions isn't a usual trope one would find in a fantasy novel either.
The narration was decent, and I appreciated the fact that things were wrapped nicely by the end of the story, with possibilities for future installments to the series, without ending in a cliff hanger.
