Historia
In Across That Bridge, Congressman John Lewis draws from his experience as a prominent leader of the civil rights movement to offer timeless wisdom, poignant recollections, and powerful principles for anyone interested in challenging injustices and inspiring real change toward a freer, more peaceful society. The civil rights movement gave rise to the protest culture we know today, and the experiences of leaders like Congressman Lewis, a close confidant to Martin Luther King, Jr., have never been more relevant.

John Lewis Tells His Amazing Story
Revisado: 02-19-21
John Lewis grew up the son of poor sharecroppers. He managed to get an education and connect with Martin Luther King and other icons of the civil rights movement in the 1950s 60s and 70s.
He remained peaceful in the midst of beatings that threatened his life. He reaches out to his adversaries during civil rights demonstrations and now as a congressman with love. His commitment spiritually to peace, nonviolent protest and genuinely loving even his adversaries is truly amazing to be hold.
The story is much more powerful because it is John Lewis telling his own story himself. He is late in life at the time of the writing and able to relate the entirety of his life to the circumstances we find ourselves in now in America.
The casting for the narrator of this book was perfect. If I didn’t know better I would think it was Lewis himself speaking.
This book would be important for any American and anybody in any part of the world interested in improving a country or the entire world through Protest.

Historia
Micah Mortimer is a creature of habit. A self-employed tech expert, superintendent of his Baltimore apartment building, cautious to a fault behind the steering wheel, he seems content leading a steady, circumscribed life. But one day, his routines are blown apart when his woman friend (he refuses to call anyone in her late 30s a "girlfriend") tells him she's facing eviction, and a teenager shows up at Micah's door claiming to be his son. These surprises, and the ways they throw Micah's meticulously organized life off-kilter, risk changing him forever.

Historia
When Molly, home alone with her two young children, hears footsteps in the living room, she tries to convince herself it’s the sleep deprivation. She’s been hearing things these days. Startling at loud noises. Imagining the worst-case scenario. It’s what mothers do, she knows. But then the footsteps come again, and she catches a glimpse of movement. Suddenly Molly finds herself face-to-face with an intruder who knows far too much about her and her family. As she attempts to protect those she loves most, Molly must also acknowledge her own frailty.

The mess!
Revisado: 07-29-19
A story with no purpose. Useless waste of time, especially for those of us hoping that things will get better near the end, but it doesn’t. It is still a waste of time. Repetition is rampant. How many times can you have your character sit in the corner of the kitchen on the floor or under her desk hugging her children for some nonexistent intrusion. The narrator is the only positive part of this audible and I suggest she find another story to narrate the next time.

Historia
In 1944, British bomber pilot Hugo Langley parachuted from his stricken plane into the verdant fields of German-occupied Tuscany. Badly wounded, he found refuge in a ruined monastery and in the arms of Sofia Bartoli. But the love that kindled between them was shaken by an irreversible betrayal. Nearly 30 years later, Hugo's estranged daughter, Joanna, has returned home to the English countryside to arrange her father's funeral. Among his personal effects is an unopened letter addressed to Sofia. In it is a startling revelation.

It starts out slow but eventually becomes an endearing story of WW ll with the bravery of the people of Italy. Love blooms, the food description s are mouth watering. Worth a summer read / listen. On to more by Rhys Bowen.

Historia
If you've ever laughed your way through David Sedaris's cheerfully misanthropic stories, you might think you know what you're getting with Calypso. You'd be wrong. When he buys a beach house on the Carolina coast, Sedaris envisions long, relaxing vacations spent playing board games and lounging in the sun with those he loves most. And it's as idyllic as he imagined, except for one tiny, vexing realization: it's impossible to take a vacation from yourself. With Calypso, Sedaris sets his formidable powers of observation - and dark humor - toward middle age and mortality.

Very sad and strange

This is a very odd book and not in a good way. I had listened to the sample but had no idea it was going to be so random and so sad. Would love to have the money back if I could return it.

Historia
Caroline Murphy swore she'd never set foot back in the small Southern town of Peachtree Bluff; she was a New York girl born and bred and the worst day of her life was when, in the wake of her father's death, her mother selfishly forced her to move - during her senior year of high school, no less - back to that hick-infested rat trap where she'd spent her childhood summers.

A work of brilliance
Revisado: 06-20-19
I wasn’t sure what to find when I bought this audiobook. I figured it as a good summer read when I listened to the sample. I was drawn into the story and the wisdom by the words and the exquisite voices of the narration. I think I would call this a chick book because I cannot imagine a man actually understanding the complexity of what happens to this family, to these wonderfully strong women, over the course of a lifetime. If this were a book I would call it a page turner but I have listened to all the pages like a marathon because I could not bear missing out on what would come next. Treat yourself to this marvelous work of literature. I will eagerly follow this author.

A decent story with too many words.
Revisado: 06-17-19
The plot is reasonable and the narration is fine, just fine. I think the author wrote too many words, words to Philippines, descriptions that just are unnecessary to support the plot. Segues from one scene or chapter to another are filled with descriptions that just take up time and space. I feel the book needs editing but overall a decent story.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Powerful Story Resonates with America’s Corrupt and Treasonous Leaders
Revisado: 12-31-18
Another amazing story. A solitary FBI agent follows a missing person case until a plot to fake a pretext to start a war is discovered. Russians, N Koreans and American black ops are cast in fictional but all too familiar immoral roles we read about every day.
Brilliant writing and narration.

Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Hitchcock has a rival
Revisado: 06-30-18
Hitchcock has a rival in this wonderful, intense story. I know this will become a fantastic movie at some point in the future. Since this is a first work, Finn has created a successful foundation for psychological thrillers, so stand in line for his next masterpiece. The partnership with an Oscar-worthy performance by narrator Ann Marie Lee will draw and maintain audiences for a lifetime. Thank you for sharing your gift.
