Historia
He's 10 years older. My brother's best friend. And for the next two weeks, he gets to have me in all the ways he's ever wanted. The last time I saw him, he still called me kiddo. But fast-forward five years and more than a few things have changed. He's still Iain Thorn. He's still my brother's best friend and the painfully sexy man I clearly never stopped wanting. But me? Apparently, I've grown up in more ways than he can resist.

I care too much about these characters!
Revisado: 04-21-25
Somehow the author used mojojojo woowoo magic to make me deeply invested in these characters’ arcs. She probably used the really consistent characterizations and fantastic dialogue to do it… this could have just become tropey but instead I was super engaged and I’m still trying to figure out how. Recommend! ;)

I love short story anthologies
Revisado: 03-27-24
I enjoyed the micro view of some lesser characters in the Enderverse and the tangentially related stories. Some of these stories will stick with me and are profoundly memorable.

Very Christian. MCs create all their own problems
Revisado: 07-24-23
Very Christian. Utterly useless plot wise unless you’re a Christian. Should say so in the blurb if it’s going to turn into a sermon. Also the fmc was agonizing. Spent half the book wanting her to pull her head out of her… unsatisfactory ending based on Bible quote, at least for non-Christians.

Historia
No, no, no! It doesn't matter how many times the Duchess of Trent (The Harlow Hoyden) requests her help with a delicate matter regarding a patent for her sister's invention, Tuppence Templeton will not lend a hand. She has a habit, yes, of coming up with ingenious plans to solve other people's problems, and it is true that she's clever and daring enough to pull off the proposed scheme. But there's no way she's going to confront the arrogant and dismissive Earl of Gage again.

Witty, hilarious, and complex
Revisado: 07-15-23
This book made me laugh repeatedly. The dialog and antics are funny without making impossible leaps of logic. Great closing book on the series.

Very very Christian
Revisado: 07-01-23
Nowhere in the blurbs for any book in this series did it mention that every one of the books in this series are Christian-Bible-centric in the extreme. The writing is great, The story telling is great, and for Christians, I’m sure the change of heart because of a bible quote in the third acts of each is awesome. I’m not Christian.
Also, the narrator of two books mispronounces a lot and another two books are narrated by someone so singsongy and rote it’s hard to listen.

It's a fierce life, and Marlowe has a hard outer shell. But when she's alone, she allows herself to think of a time before - a dimly remembered life when she was called Elizabeth.

Fantastic heroine
Revisado: 06-27-23
No fair making me cry happy tears.
This story has a strong believable heroine, and a man who has a lot of changing to do to deserve her. There’s adventure and great dialog throughout. Plus, happy tears. And seriously, I almost never cry at books. This one got me right in the feels.

Told anecdotally and in mostly first and second person, this story will cling to your mind and make you cry. It is startlingly unique in its prose. I felt transported by it, a rare thing indeed. Thank you.

Eyewitness to the downstairs
Revisado: 06-14-23
Quite nice to get a firsthand account of the life of an upper class household servant. You get a real picture of what her life was like. As a fun aside, it’s obvious she herself loves watching Downton Abbey in her dotage, and making note of any inaccuracies. I would love to be a fly on that wall.

Not Everyone is Christian
Revisado: 06-12-23
I like historical romances, but if the book is going to come from a particular religion’s perspective this heavily and talk about faith and G-d this much, it really ought to be mentioned in the blurb. I would have avoided it.

ALL the trigger warnings
Revisado: 06-08-23
Oversimplified characters do despicable things but get a pass all over this book. And not the seccy kind of despicable things. Actually horrid. You’d better have the stomach for the stuff you hope won’t happen but does. I think maybe thus heroine is supposed to be liked simply for the stuff she survives. I didn’t like any of them.
