Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

A must read
Revisado: 07-26-18
This is one of those rare books where you just want to tell everyone you know about it. I will remember this book for a very long time. It was really well written. I felt like I was in the prison with him and felt the highs and lows of each event. Ray was only able to make it through the 30 years by holding on to his faith in spite of all of the obstacles he faced. His acts of forgiveness should be a model to all. He is a true inspiration. It is a tragedy that this happened, but with this book Ray has taken an unimaginable situation and made something positive from it. This story must be shared to avoid this from ever happening again. Kudos also to the narrator. His voice was perfect for this book.

Historia
David Marquet, an experienced Navy officer, was used to giving orders. Marquet acted like any other captain until, one day, he unknowingly gave an impossible order, and his crew tried to follow it anyway. Marquet realized he was leading in a culture of followers, and they were all in danger unless they fundamentally changed the way they did things. Struggling against his own instincts to take control, he instead achieved the vastly more powerful model of giving control.

An amazing story
Revisado: 01-27-18
What made the experience of listening to The Spider Network the most enjoyable?
knowing the story was true, and that it appeared to be well researched.
Who was your favorite character and why?
In the beginning of the book, you can't help but think Hayes was a greedy, arrogant, selfish trader. By the end of the book, you couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I couldn't listen to this book in one sitting. At times there were so many names and details it was hard to keep it straight.
Any additional comments?
This is a great story - and in some way can teach a few life lessons. What happened to Tom Hayes seems unjust compared to his colleagues and also explains why so many people distrust the banking industry. Perhaps his arrogance or autism or both prevented him from handling the investigation differently. It seems unfair that he got such a harsh penalty and his colleagues did not. It's hard to know if less detail would have taken away from some of the impact of the book - but it did get a little bogged down at times.
