Historia
Long ago, Nathan lived in a house in the country with his abusive father—and has never told his family what happened there. Long ago, Maddie was a little girl making dolls in her bedroom when she saw something she shouldn’t have—and is trying to remember that lost trauma by making haunting sculptures. Long ago, something sinister walked in the mountains and the coal mines of their hometown in rural Pennsylvania. Now, Nate and Maddie Graves are married, and they have moved back to their hometown with their son, Oliver. And now what happened long ago is happening again...to Oliver.

Excellent stories make for excellent listening.
Revisado: 09-11-21
A thrill ride of a horror/ghost/sci-fi/haunted house tale that is at the same time none of these things as much as it is. A stark look at the pain of cyclical abuse and the darkness that occupies a part of all of us in some measure. It’s funny and awful and tragic and heartwarming and gory all in one package. Sands and Newbern feel like extensions of the Author to me, their voices and performances fit Wendig’s story like they were custom cut for it. Newbern especially can go from malevolent goth-nerd teenaged boy to raging sun eating demon in a breath and it’s fun to witness. Highly recommend.

Historia
In this “deftly and originally executed” (Booklist) New York Times best-selling novel, Vaelin Al Sorna must help his Queen reclaim her Realm. Only his enemy has a dangerous new collaborator, one with powers darker than Vaelin has ever encountered...“The Ally is there, but only ever as a shadow, unexplained catastrophe or murder committed at the behest of a dark vengeful spirit. Sorting truth from myth is often a fruitless task". After fighting back from the brink of death, Queen Lyrna is determined to repel the invading Volarian army.

Excellent Audio Story
Revisado: 07-28-15
A rich story crafted in a detailed, believable world, Ryan delivers an engrossing narrative that captures the reader/listener and creates that personal investment indicative of great fiction. The narrator in this Audio version is outstanding - with just subtle character differentiation, he delivers the content more as a narrator than an actor and the effect is superb.
