Revisado: 04-24-25
Lovely story of two lifelong friends from the beginning of their friendship working as secretaries on the Gone with the Wind set til the end of their lives. Beautifully written as one feels every emotion the characters possess. I cannot say enough about how much I love this book and I highly recommend it.

Eye opening!

I have read several historical fiction novels on WW2. This is the first from the experience of a child and the London Blitz. I was simply mesmerized by the main character and her relationships in the most traumatic time of her life. This story was awesome, I never felt it to be slow nor did I note moments of boredom. I realized what charmed lives we live, never experiencing the travesty of loss on such a grand scale. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more works by Susan Meissner.

Collis Huntington, railroad baron and self-made multimillionaire, is drawn to Arabella from their first meeting. Collis is married and 30 years her senior, yet they are well-matched in temperament, and flirtation rapidly escalates into an affair.
