Historia
Nadia Williams needs somewhere peaceful to sort through her grief after her mother is brutally murdered. She finds a cozy cabin at the side of a tranquil lake in the quaint town of Misted Pines in the Pacific Northwest. The minute she arrives, she knows it’s perfect. The very night of her arrival, however, someone—or something—is scratching at her window. The next morning, she meets her one and only neighbor, Doc Riggs. He’s a rough, good-time guy who rubs Nadia wrong immediately. They clash, and neither of them are happy to be sharing their lake.

Entertaining but…
Revisado: 06-18-24
The story, as always with Kristen Ashley, was very entertaining. I didn’t even listen to the last chapter before the end! The only downside, to me, was the male narrator. It sounded like he spoke in all capital letters. The story did not call for such constant
dramatics. He really made his parts hard to listen to.

Historia
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

Good Story, Narrator not so much.
Revisado: 03-31-24
I have listened to almost every Nora Roberts and JD Robb book and this one was the first one I found very hard to finish. It was not the story, it was the narrator. Bless her heart, she put everything she had into the reading of this book, but, in my opinion, it was way too much.

Could not get past the narrator. Bless her for trying, but she made the book horrible. What a waste of a precious credit! Once I READ the book I really enjoyed the story.

Heard it Before
Revisado: 09-24-19
As always the writing and the story telling were excellent. I always enjoy The way JDR crafts her characters, just when you want to dislike Dallas she pulls her back and makes her vulnerable. The way that she makes her sentences so visual makes me read all of the books that NR writes over and over again. It was the plot that I had trouble with. It was very similar to another In Death book that is only a few years old. All through the book the book I kept thinking that I have heard this before.

So Disappointing.
Revisado: 02-15-18
I listened to all the books in the Thunder Point series some I liked better than others, but this one was the worst! NOTE: STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT THE ENDING RUINED. Through the whole book we know that the main character is estranged from her family, it’s a pretty strong subplot. Yet the best the Author can do is devote 5 minutes at the end to let the reader know what happens. The reader takes a whole journey with the main character and is really kind of left hanging at the end. It’s almost like the author realized she needed to end the book and just threw it together to get it done. The author spends an extraordinary amount of time in whiney character introspection sometimes covering the same ground as previous chapters. The book was much more enjoyable when there was character interaction and movement. And, I cannot stress enough how disappointed I was I the end. Especially since it was also the end of the series.

My apologies to the narrator, but this woman read the book like she was narrating an extremely long episode of Desperate Housewives. She made an extremely long book even longer.

What happened to Nora?
Revisado: 07-03-17
It used to be when I read/listened to a Nora Roberts book I was always so disappointed that there was not an epilogue. By the end of the book I was so invested in the characters that I wanted to have a glimpse into their happily ever after. This book, not so much. I feel like there were a lot of characters whose stories were never fully developed and because there were so many characters, the main characters personalities were just kind of blah. Or maybe it's because I've read so many Nora Roberts books that all of the characters just become the same one only in a different setting. Headstrong girl falls for bad boy who left home to find himself, quiet studious/serious kind of bashful man falls for Suzy Homemaker & fun loving side kicks fall for each other. As much as I hate to say it because Nora Roberts books have been my companions for over 25 years, but we may need to take a break for awhile....

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life - a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school and a challenging volunteer job performing Canine Search and Rescue. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare: an encounter with the Red Scarf Killer, who shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

Sometimes reading IS better than listening!
Revisado: 10-12-16
What did you like best about The Search? What did you like least?
The story. The narrator.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
While it did not keep me on the edge of my seat it kept me intrigued enough to suffer through the narration.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?
Rebecca Lowman, Susan Ericksen, Renee Raudman, my 8th grade English teacher...
Do you think The Search needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
A well written book such as this always make me interested in the other characters, so sure I would love a follow up book to see where some of the other brewing romances between the secondary characters end up.
Any additional comments?
If read, this is a great book. However, for me the Narrator totally killed the book. When the characters spoke in full sentences, the voice started our as "normal" and went up octaves so by the end of the sentence it seemed that they all should end with exclamation points. t

Emerson Knight is introverted and eccentric and has little to no sense of social etiquette. Good thing he's also brilliant, rich, and (some people might say) handsome, or he'd probably be homeless. Riley Moon has just graduated from Harvard Business and Harvard Law. Her aggressive Texas spitfire attitude has helped her land her dream job as a junior analyst with megabank Blane-Grunwald. At least Riley Moon thought it was her dream job, until she is given her first assignment: babysitting Emerson Knight.

Eh...
Revisado: 08-24-16
This was just Ok. You could tell that the writer(s) tried to write the characters with Evanovich's trademark quirkiness, but this attempt fell more than a little short. I am sure some of it had to do with the less than stellar narration. There was no life in the voice of the narrator therefore the characters were flat.
The premise of the story, while a little far fetched, was just enough on this side of reality to be interesting. But, again, the narrator just could not give the voice to the characters to make this book fun and amusing.

Good Story, Maybe.
Revisado: 08-15-16
I love most all Nora Roberts books. To me she is an author who can paint a vivid picture in my mind with a few well written words. Unfortunately, I never got there with this book because I just could not tolerate the narrator. It sounded like she took one big breath at the beginning of every sentence and the expelled it in a rush to see which she ran out of first - words or breath. I found myself skipping to the end of the book just to find out what happened as opposed to listening to it all the way through.
